Murder And Mayhem..
The eleventh in the Honey Driver series of mysteries finds Honey knee deep in murder and mayhem once again as she and Steve innocently set out to explore the countryside seeking wedding venues. What should have been an enjoyable excursion soon leads the duo up the garden path when a bizarre series of events unfolds. Another engaging and entertaining instalment laced with humour and with an eclectic and eccentric cast of characters, a likeable protagonist in Honey and a solid mystery at heart.

I hadn’t read any in this series previously so I struggled to connect with the detective as I wasn’t given a ton of backstory! I think those who’ve read this series before would enjoy this mystery though.

A policeman on a hunt for a wedding venue for himself and his hotel owning fiancé. Neither is in the first flush of youth and both have children from previous marriages. Then they both start getting threatening letters telling them that they will be killed if they marry. Not to be put off they carry on searching - and that's when the really odd stuff starts happening. A good cozy mystery that takes liberties with police formalities - snogging in a DIs office - with staff around - I don't think so!! LOL

Loved it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

It's hard to jump into a series with book 11. I seemed to be missing a lot of the character development and inside jokes. The comparison to Miss Marple is confusing, too, as the only similarity I see is that they're both set in villages. I've re-read all the Marple books recently, such that I find myself thinking in Jane, and she would have been scandalized. The book is quite tame, just missing her way of euphamizing anything not "proper."

I liked how the ending had more to it than a general pull-a-name-out-of-a-hat solution. I suppose that part if it was like Agatha Christie, too.
