A lovely story, initially about finding the right man but all three characters discover that that isn't always what they are actually looking for.
a great read about looking for love, loneliness and friendships. Iris comes across as a prickly batteaxe but as you get to know her you realise she is painfully lonely. Kim is the ultimate party girl with the gift of the gab but both can’t find love. they are both a chalk and cheese but together the build the ultimate dating app and a great friendship
Once I got over the fact that this was not the rom-com I was expecting things started to get better. I do not really understand how the three characters jelled together but it was a good read nonetheless. Slightly less polished than I would have liked but I still enjoyed myself.
This is a four-star read that almost added up to a five. I enjoyed this story, but I didn’t like the main characters for the first third of the story at least. I really had to push myself to keep going as it was a chore to read Kim and Iris, but then they started to really show themselves and you realised there were hidden depths, and it flourished into a better story, I stated to care for them both and then when you threw Connie in the mix, and her storyline that just pushed my limit in ways you will understand when you read this. Pick it up and enjoy it once you get there.
This was a bit of a slog for me to read… The three characters’ storylines were a bit clunky, even though they had very distinctive narratives. I don’t know, it’s a romance book and I was hoping for, well, a bit more romance? It’s an enjoyable and nice enough read, though.
I adore Claudia's books and was so happy to see a new one. This book is sweet, romantic, funny, heartwarming and lovely. I really loved the characters in this one. Really enjoyable.
This is a light hearted, easy read about whether it is possible to develop the perfect dating app to find 'the one'. It is entertaining and enjoyable but it had an abrupt ending which was a shame.
I wouldn’t class this as a rom-com really, it’s more of a finding yourself kind of story. The 3 main characters are all women of different ages who are lonely, and set out to find the right man for them, but there isn’t really a feeling of romance in the book, more friendship and growing as a person.
This was a very easygoing read featuring three very different women who are all looking for love. Iris has been internet dating for years with no joy, that said she certainly doesn’t come across as the easiest of people to get on with. Kim has no shortage of dates but they never lead to anything long term whilst her mum Connie is just starting to get back out there a few years after the death of her beloved husband. After an expensive date gone wrong prices to be the final straw for Iris she decides to design her own dating app with a difference but in need of some guinea pigs for it she enlists her colleague Kim and her mum Connie to give some multigenerational feedback.
Iris is a very difficult character to like however she develops well as the story progresses and it’s interesting the conclusions she comes to. Kim is just a very fun and lively character, very likeable and positive and it was interesting to see how Connie’s approach to dating altered and I also loved the relationship between her and her best friend. This is a great book for character development and great for relaxing with but I don’t think the app is one I’d ever engage with!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Did people in loving relationships realise how fortunate they were, Iris often wondered? One thing was for certain, though: after all these decades alone, someone like her would never not appreciate such a rare blessing." This is such an easy read about the struggles of online dating as well as the importance and strength of relationships between women. I highly recommend if you're looking for a funny, light read!
Iris, Kim, and Connie are all single and have had negative experiences with online dating. Iris is in her 40s, and is good with numbers, however, after decades of online dating, no formula she has found for swiping right has seen success. And after her last date that cost her over £900, she is determined to find someone for her. Kim is in her 20s, and is well known in work for her horrific yet hilarious dating stories. Arguably the best (well worst) one was after being picked up by a limo driver on a date only to find she was stuck in the back between a coffin and a McDonalds. Connie is single for the first time since the 70s after she was made a widow, and her daughter Kim persuades her to try online dating, for company if anything. After Iris overhears yet another of Kim's dating stories, she asks her to help develop an app that may lead to some suitable matches. However as the three begin they own dating journeys with the app, they begin to question whether it is a relationship or friendship that is the key to their loneliness.
This was such a lighthearted book, however, I adored the open and honest discussion it brought forward about online dating. Iris was not the most likeable character at the start, yet it was actually heartwarming to hear how difficult she is finding it being alone, despite the success of her work life. You can really emphasise with her struggles as in turn it does lead her (and I'm sure the majority of the people who have been in this situation) to point the finger at themselves and wonder why they are the problem. However, I do admire how her standards and type did not differ due to the downfalls. Kim and Connie were also very fun to read about as mother and daughter and they had two very different dating experiences at their stages of life, That was probably my favourite part of the book, how the women were at different stages of their life and were able to reflect on their own difficulties of dating, The relationships between the three women was also lovely to read about as Iris expanded out of her workplace shell in order to focus on herself and what she wants and how she's going to get it.
This book is a very sweet and easy read which I recommend if you're in the mood for something (for the majority) lighthearted. Thank you netgalley for the arc!
2.75/5 stars! The premise for this book read like a Love Hypothesis, Kiss Quotient, and True-Love Experiment mash-up, so I was really excited to read it. I would put this book in the category of palette cleanser. The lows don't feel that low, but the highs also don't feel that high. It's one of those 'just there' books. I think the hardest thing for me was that I found Iris unlikable, which I think was the point, but it made finishing the story challenging.
