I don't even have words to describe how much I loved this book. Briana and Jacob are absolutely everything to me and I loved seeing their friendship and relationship develop and also their own personal journeys and growth.

Briana is now one of my all-time favourite characters, I just wanted to give her a hug the whole time and it was so easy to connect to her character and want to root for her to succeed. Her journey of healing from her divorce was so upsetting to read and I cried quite a few times because I just felt so upset for her. I felt like Jimenez wrote her development so well and in such a relatable way that it was impossible not to feel all the emotions that Briana was feeling.
Her love for Jacob was so pure and I adored every chapter from her POV and being able to be in her head as she realised she loved Jacob was such a wonderful experience.

As much as Briana is one of my all-time favourite characters now, so is Jacob. Right from the start I felt so attached to him and immediately protective of him, and it was just such an experience to be in his head and see him go through all sorts of emotions. I feel like Jimenez wrote Jacob's anxiety so well and in such a real and relatable way, nothing felt exaggerated. While it was difficult to see him struggle so much, it just made it that much more wonderful to see him slowly develop and grow and not let his anxiety take over his life.
Jacob's love for Briana felt so innocent and it was so lovely to see how comfortable he was with her and the quietness that they were able to share with each other.

It was such a wonderful experience to read about Briana and Jacob falling in love and they still feel so real to me, I don't think I'll ever get over this book and I can't wait to reread it multiple times.

I was really hopeful that I was going to adore this book and give it 5 stars like everyone else seems to be doing but that wasn’t the case here.

My main gripe with this book is that it’s incredibly repetitive in regards to the characters having the same internal dialogue. It was about how they really liked each other but ‘oh he/she didn’t do this for me, it’s just to keep up appearances’ etc. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s realistic (at least to me) to question if someone likes you, especially in this situation of being in a fake relationship however I didn’t want to keep reading these same thoughts over and over again.

This book is miscommunication central. I don’t necessarily hate miscommunication in books, I find it’s realistic especially when it comes to romantic relationships but it’s only at the 85% mark do the characters admit their true feelings for each other. Maybe this wouldn’t have been such a problem for me if there was more to the plot then the constant dialogue I mentioned but because that’s what the plot was, it felt incredibly drawn out to wait that long for some kind of confession. After all of that waiting, the ending seems rushed as well.

I do want to end on a positive note though because I didn’t hate the book. I adored Jacob and his three legged dog. Also, the anxiety representation was done incredibly well. I loved that Brianna had catchphrases for Jacob to use if he was getting overwhelmed and needed to leave whatever situation they were in.

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just finished reading this one. A cute romance that I read for a book club. Thought the little notes were really cute that the main characters shared through-out, I kind of wish they had been more the "yours truly" made the whole book special for me 🤗
Really liked the representation of mental health and panic attacks, especially from a males perspective. Really loved the grumpy sunshine relationship feels, made more enjoyable through a multiple point of view narrative.

I will definitely be reading more from Abby Jimenez in the future

How have I not read books by this author before?!

What an incredible read! Yours Truly follows ER doctor Brianna Ortiz, navigating a difficult year following her divorce and her brother declining health following an autoimmune disease and is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. New ER doctor Jacob Maddox rubs Brianna up the wrong way but as she slowly gets to know Jacob, she discovers a sweeter side of him. Whilst he selflessly offers his kidney (and is a match), Brianna also agrees to be his fake girlfriend as he navigates encountering his ex and her new partner (who also happens to be his brother!)

Firstly the writing is excellent, so well written and absolutely hilarious. I found myself flying through the chapters and found it difficult to put down. Jiminez does an excellent job in creating a slow burn, I was invested throughout the whole plot!

Now onto the plot, the heartbreaking scenario of Brianna’s brother’s situation was so emotional and seeing how helpless she was in the search for a donor kidney was absolutely painful to witness. I loved how she always fought for her brothers health encouraging him to continue his dialysis journey. Brianna was an incredible character, and I was in awe of her constant awareness of Jacob’s needs, navigating his anxiety in the right way without making him feel like he didn’t belong. The push and pull between the characters was excellent and the portrayal of mental health and anxiety was some of the best I’ve seen!

I honestly can’t recommend this book enough!

Thanks to Little Brown Book Group, NetGalley and Abby Jiminez for the eARC, all opinions expressed are my own!

My review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Abby Jimenez is one of those authors that I get grabby hands about when I hear there's a new book coming out!

I've read all of her books so far, and really enjoyed them - so much that there have all been 5 star reads, as is this one!

Abby Jimenez manages to put these believable characters in situations that makes me keep wanting to turn pages to find out what happens next!

Yours Truly kept this tradition going! Set in a hospital, it's a work place romance, with our male lead having anxiety. I found it really interesting the way this was written about.

There are pop ins from previous books, and of course lots of references to Nadia Cakes as Abby Jimenez is the owner and founder!

Trigger warnings for this book are renal failure and miscarriage.

If you're looking for a book that you'll have a hard time putting down, then Yours Truly is for you!

Thank you to @netgalley and to @littlebrown for access to read this.

4.75/5 stars! I might be slightly biased because I have loved everything I've ever read by Abby Jimenez. However, this book was stunning and I think everyone will agree. Abby does a masterful job of presenting mental health and anxiety in a relatable way without judgment, which I really appreciate because the reality is that the majority of individuals experience anxiety on a regular basis. This story had such a great storyline and then added in the perfect amount of spice. Would highly recommend.

3.5 stars

I have been hearing nothing but great things about Jimenez's romances for years now, so I was very excited to dive into her newest work and see what it was all about! Like with The Plus One, I didn't realise this was part of a companion series but it didn't take away from my enjoyment at all. I found it really refreshing that it was Jacob, the male protagonist, who struggled with anxiety, as I find it to be stereotyped in books as a very female-majority condition to have. I also loved how Briana immediately started implementing things to help make Jacob more comfortable without belittling him in any way. The dual narrative is something I always enjoy, but I did find myself getting frustrated at times with both of them self-sabotaging by not admitting their feelings for each other! That is a testament to Jimenez's writing, however.

I read and enjoyed Part Of Your World but that no way prepared me for how much I would LOVE Yours Truly. The only reason I didn't read this in one sitting was because it was 1:30am and I had to go to sleep. The immediate chemistry between Briana and Jacob had me hooked from the first few chapters and I had to keep reading to finally see them admit their feelings to each other.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy. I will DEFINITELY be recommending this to everyone I know.

After hearing one particular aspect of the premise – that Jacob would donate his kidney to Briana’s brother – I admit I was sceptical at first because I didn’t want the novel’s romance to be fuelled by a ‘debt’. Luckily, my doubts were proven entirely wrong. Briana and Jacob’s relationship developed organically, founded on mutual respect, kindness and eventually love. I flew through this book because I became so invested in the couple.

At the heart of the adorable romance was a wonderful friendship. I loved how Briana and Jacob went out of their way to help each other because they genuinely cared. The two grew to truly understand each other, to the extent that they knew what they were thinking without needing to talk. I loved them both so much as individual characters, due to their kind and generous natures, but even more so, I loved how comfortable they were together and how happy they made the other.

The author managed to handle mental health topics with care, understanding and patience. I thought the depiction of Jacob’s anxiety was totally relatable, especially his instinct to ruminate and fixate on seemingly minor details. It was heartwarming to watch his anxious behaviours gradually decrease as he got more and more comfortable with Briana.

Owing to its mental health representation and kidney donation side-plot, this book defied convention in more ways than one. It gave welcome attention to its side characters, helping paint a clear picture of what Briana and Jacob’s own little worlds looked like. In these ways, the novel felt original and fresh. However, I also loved when it leant into some classic tropes – letter writing! fake dating! – and somehow elevated them above what had been done before.

I was swept up by this adorable romance thanks to the beautiful friendship it had at its heart. I appreciated how the book tackled mental health issues in such a thoughtful and authentic way.

Would I recommend?… Yes, I challenge you not to smile while reading this book

Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.

Oh, how I loved this book! I have read everything by Abby and so far, they all been five star reads for me.

The way Abby writes about anxiety and how it can feel and be shown in people were just spot on. Jacob are absolutely adorable in his love for Briana and Briana's care for him, knowing what he needs in his anxiety, that's love in its finest form. Just WOW 😍

Briana and Jacob are new colleagues who don't get off to the best start. But soon they are fake dating - will it lead to more or just heartbreak? A great read, I liked how it is told from both points of view.

I am already a big fan of this author and this book just solidified my love for their writing!
This book is amazing. I love how she writes real people, no reason to hide how people really think. Loved it.

Having spent the last four months fully submerged in all things thriller, the grittier the better, ‘Yours Truly’ was a much needed breath of fresh air and I am so glad that I was able to dip my toe back into the world of romance and comedy. It made me realise how important it is for me to diversify my reading. Both professionally and for my mental health, because this book was like a warm hug on a bad day. A hot water bottle, fluffy blanket and bar of chocolate all in one.

I’m not going to lie to you, I both love and loathe a fake relationship trope. It’s been done to death but I also adore just how clumsy and dramatic it all is. That being said, Abby Jimenez took something that could have potentially been a completely overdone fiasco and made it feel brand new.

Abby Jimenez is an expert in character development and creating well-rounded, realistic personalities that just jump from the page and come to life in front of your eyes. Brianna Ortiz was someone I absolutely would want to be friends with. She was strong and sassy but ultimately vulnerable and full of raw magnetism. I just adored her! Then there was Jacob…

I have NEVER loved a romantic interest as much as Jacob. He was equal parts sweet, stubborn and hilarious. He felt entirely real, well fleshed out and identifiable. If anything, Jacob was much more me than Brianna, a fact which I was totally ok with, and that has never happened before. Getting to know him as a character allowed me to view the parts of myself that I see as flaws in a totally different light and for that I am so thankful.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a well-written romance or is in need of a good laugh or cry! You’ll find it all there in between the pages of this absolute gem that I am almost certain to return to again and again. I can’t wait to read more from Abby!

Another fantastic book from Abby Jimenez. I don't know how she does it but I have never been disappointed by any of her books!

There is a lot going on in this story from real feelings, humour and my favourite....fake dating!

Highly recommend!

I binge-read Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez in two sittings. If I didn’t desperately need to sleep, I probably would have stayed up the whole night to finish it. Jimenez did a fantastic job of creating a heartwarming and emotional story that kept me hooked from the first page to the last.

Yours Truly feels like a Grey’s Anatomy episode, but one with a happy ending. We follow Briana, a recently divorced trauma doctor, and Jacob, a trauma doctor with anxiety. They get off on the wrong foot, but soon the misunderstanding turns into an amazing and heartwarming friendship, and then something more.

I found the characters to be well-developed and relatable, especially Jacob. His anxiety presents similarly to mine, and it was just so refreshing to read about Briana loving him just the way he is. It didn’t seem like she was going out of her way for him, she just instantly accepted who he was and what he needed and then did it. It made me sob. The same goes the other way. Briana has some trauma from her ex-husband cheating on her, and Jacob handles it with so much grace and sympathy. The chemistry between Briana and Jacob is so good and the romance is so beautifully written.

The pacing of the story is perfect, with just the right amount of tension and a little bit of family drama. There are some heavier elements, such as Briana’s brother’s illness, but it too has a happy ending.

Overall, I highly recommend Yours Truly to anyone looking for a heartwarming and emotional read. Jimenez’s writing style is captivating and the story is beautiful. It’s definitely a book that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it.

Fake dating is back! But there's nothing massively new about it. So if it's a well loved trope of yours, this is it done decently and is an easy read. The characters were good, and I was happy Bri got her HEA, but honestly I don't think it did enough to stand out.

I’ve really loved all of Abby Jimenez’s previous books and couldn’t wait to read this!

Firstly, every character was developed or had a really unique part to play in this book, which is not always the case in romance novels, and I was so happy to enter this world and get to know them. There were plenty of dramatic and emotionally charged moments or storylines and I was really invested throughout BUT what hooked me most was their romance!

Two great main characters with so many of my favourite tropes had me invested to say the least! Fake dating, the refusal to believe the other person is into them, one bed, sort of enemies to friends to lovers - it’s all there and I was hooked from start to finish ☺️

Abby Jimenez reigns supreme again. Already eagerly awaiting the next but so happy to have this for now.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was one of the few people on the planet who had never read an Abby Jimenez book, but I am so happy to say, that is no longer the case. And what a book to start with!! From the moment I started reading, I knew I was going to love Briana and Jacob’s story.

I adore the way Jimenez develops her characters, from her two MCs, to all of the supporting ones. I can completely envision Jacob’s big, boisterous family (one I wish I could be a part of), as well as Briana’s friends and their feisty hospital colleagues. They all felt like very real people who exist entirely outside of the story.

As someone who suffers from anxiety, I loved the way it was represented in Yours Truly. I felt for Jacob every time he felt anxious, overwhelmed, socially awkward (in fact as someone also on the autism spectrum, I think Jacob might be as well) or just plain stressed out and unable to deal. I so appreciated the way Jimenez had Briana handle those situations.

My only criticism of this book was that it relies pretty heavily on the miscommunication trope in the second half. And yet I loved this book so much, it still didn’t stop it from being a five star read for me.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Definitely give it a read, as well as her backlist which I’ve begun to work through.

Read if you like:
•friends to lovers
•fake dating
•workplace romance
•anxiety rep
•neurodivergent rep

Part of Your World was a 5/5 and Yours Truly is a 10/10. I listened to the audio as well as the copy from NetGalley (thank you!)

My husband and I met over letters, and I'm going to um, strongly suggest that he reads this book. Which I did not want to end, which made me laugh and made my face rain. Which has some of the best anxiety rep that I've ever read.

More from this universe, please!

Brilliant, Briana and Jacob start off disliking each other, through a series of letters they become closer, and when Jacob offers to be her brother's kidney donor the scene is set. Really enjoyable, hard to put down.
