Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.

Well, I think I’ve officially found a new favourite male main character.

I love how developed and unique each character was in this book. This book also featured some of my favourite tropes: fake dating, one bed, and the main characters not believing that the other person is in love with them too.

This book is perfect for fans of greys anatomy and other medical dramas. I will also be grabbing a copy of Abby Jimenez’s other books too!

I'm sure stories of miscarriage and anxiety are easy for some readers, but for me it was an incredibly triggering read. I sadly had to DNF and I do think I won't be returning to Abby Jimenez's books, as this isn't the first time she has handled such difficult topics in a careless way.

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez follows the story of Dr. Briana Ortiz, whose life seems to be at an all-time low. As she deals with a pending divorce, her brother's urgent need for a kidney donor, and a looming promotion that seems destined for the new doctor, Jacob Maddox, Briana's life feels like an unending string of challenges. And then… Jacob surprises her with a thoughtful letter that changes her perspective on him.

Despite the potential for a heartwarming romance, Yours Truly ultimately falls short in delivering multidimensional characters.

Jacob Maddox, in particular, is portrayed as a paragon of perfection - a character that never falters and always meets the highest expectations. While such a character could provide a strong foil for Briana's own struggles, his unwavering perfection ultimately detracts from the authenticity of their developing relationship.

Briana's character also suffers from a lack of depth. Her insecurities are presented in a one-dimensional (and repetitive) manner, making it difficult to fully empathize with her journey.

And don't even get me started on Jacob's anxiety, which could have provided an interesting counterbalance to his otherwise perfect demeanor, but appeared inconsistently and only when the plot needed an extra dose of drama, and that just didn't work for me.

While Abby Jimenez has a proven track record of delivering engaging and emotionally resonant contemporary romances, Yours Truly, unfortunately, missed the mark for me. The novel's charming premise and initial allure were overshadowed by its one-dimensional characters and occasional contrivances. For avid fans of Jimenez's work, this novel may still provide some enjoyable moments, but it remains an exception in her otherwise stellar repertoire.

Briana is about to be divorced and Jacob has just found out that his brother is engaged to his former girlfriend. He needs a fake girlfriend to convince his family that he is fine. Briana signs up for this and, of course, they fall in love for real whilst both misunderstanding the other’s feelings. It’s not an original idea but it’s great fun to read. Alongside the humour and romance, the author tackles social anxiety and kidney failure, The author note at the end is very moving. I would very much recommend this enjoyable read. Thanks to Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review,

I had heard nothing but great things about this before I started so my expectations were high, and even then they were exceeded. Jacob Maddox is a dream of a man and I will be thinking about him, and probably shouting about him, forever. The emotional journey Briana and Jacob embark on as they learn to open up to love from another after being deeply heart in the past is so beautiful. Jacob’s anxiety is such a visceral thing and there were a few moments where I could feel the panic through the writing, and I love the way Briana becomes an advocate for him finding peace when he needs it. Equally I love the way he is selfless in making sure she is happy and protected even if it’s in exchange for some of that peace. The way they support each other is absolutely wonderful and I fell deeply in love with the characters. I’m sure I’m going to be recommending this one to everyone.

Thank you Little, Brown Book Group UK, Piatkus and netgalley.com for this arc.

I adored this book and I would read ir forever. It was not easy themed at all. It was about finding a way to climb up after you fall really deep. When you do not see a way but fortunately you found someone that helps you. It is all easier when you have someone beside. I loved how the friendship was growing. There really more deep emotions that this book brought me. A lot of times we do not know we are in a bad relationship before it is over. And we are sad and not seeing all the picture for some reason. It simply was truly beautiful, you feel every kind word, every hug, every look the charatcters give.

This was my first book by Abby Jimenez and I loved every second of it. The writing style and the characters was amazing. I could not put it down, definitely reading everything Abby had published!

I’m not even sure I can properly put into words how much I loved this, but I’ll give it a go. (spoiler alert: my words won’t do it justice at all)

There is so much to love about this book but the way the two main characters take care of each other really steals the show. Briana starts off disliking Jacob because she thinks he’s rude and trying to steal the job she wants from him. Turns out? Jacob isn’t rude, he just suffers with really bad social anxiety.

Watching them move past the bad first impressions and becoming each others person was such a joy. Briana fully understanding Jacob and doing everything to help him navigate social situations with his anxiety. And Jacob doing things even though they made him uncomfortable just because he’d do anything for Briana.

As someone who’s suffered with social anxiety my whole life and my dad leaving when I was younger, this book felt so personal to me because I could truly relate to both Jacob and Briana. Watching them find each other and watching Jacob work to prove that he wouldn’t be like the other men in Briana’s before him was healing. The steps he took to make sure she felt secure, I honestly can’t cope 😭 forget book boyfriends, Jacob is book husband material!! He is the actual definition of “if he wanted to, he would” and I love him.

It was heartfelt, heartbreaking, funny, sweet, swoon-worthy. I laughed, I cried, I giggled and kicked my feet. I LOVED it.

This was my first Abby Jimenez book and it certainly won’t be my last, I’m on my way to read everything she’s ever written.

Huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Yours Truly!

I absolutely love Abby Jiminez so naturally I was excited for this book and I’m pleased to say it didn't let me down. Firstly, I really appreciate Abby including trigger warnings at the start of this book. So many author's don't do this and I appreciated being made aware of a few potential triggers.

This book had so many tropes and so many of my favourites which made it such a fun read. Friends to lovers ❤️ Fake dating ❤️ Forced proximity ❤️ One bed ❤️

Both of the main characters, Jacob and Briana are absolute GEMS. Jacob is a warm, kind cinnamon bun and I loved him with my whole heart. He struggles with social anxiety but still manages to put those he loves before himself.

Briana is more outgoing but is so considerate of Jacob's anxiety and never makes or lets him feel less because of his mental health. She is quirky and fun but has underlying trauma that she struggles with.

I loved them both individually but love them even more together. Abby always makes her characters so much fun to get to know and I love that about her books, they are a great mix of fun and serious.

The one thing that I didn’t love so much was the miscommunication. It’s my least favourite trope in a book but it felt like it went on way too long in this book and I really just wanted to get to the part where the two main characters got together and really told each other how they felt!

Overall, this was a lovely, fun read with good banter, a swoony lead male character and a great message: show up for the people you love! The added depth from its compassionate focus on mental health and complicated family dynamics was the icing cake. Would highly recommend to my romcom loving friends!

The meet-cute? Amazing, and I was hooked on this story when the letters started featuring.

Then the miscommunication came along. Really? 2023 and we're still using this as a plot device? This section of the book dragged on!! Then the whiplash came at the 90% mark with another bomb and I wanted to DNF.

One star for Jacob and one star for the letters but the rest of this story can go eat glass. It was all over the place and give me strength because Briana got on my last nerve.

This was SO cute and SO wholesome and it was so, so lovely to have a romance book with a male main character who wasn’t actually objectively awful. I loved how central the letters were in the beginning of the book - when they stopped I was disappointed for a second but then I quickly saw how well Jiminez enabled the plot to develop without them, while still sprinkling them gorgeously throughout. And I adored the final chapter and prologue. I think anyone who reads this book will absolutely fall in love with Jacob and Briana.

The only downside for me (and I did nearly knock off a star) was that at c. 85% of the way in I thought some of the trauma stuff came on quite suddenly (even though it wasn’t actually out of nowhere) which made it seem quite melodramatic, but it turns out that the author consulted with counsellors and trauma experts and whatnot, and finding this out redeemed it for me.

I will almost definitely be reading more of Abby Jiminez’s work, probably starting with Alexis and Daniel’s story, which is the one before this one.

I LOVED this book! This was my first book by Abby Jimenez and I'm immediately reading Part of Your World next! I really appreciated the mental health rep in the book and how the characters worked through them and helped each other. Reading the Author's Note, I can understand that the subject of organ donation is close to the author's heart and was conveyed sensitively.

God, this book was GOOD. Abby Jimenez knows how to write a romance that makes you swoon one page, and break your heart the next.

Tropes: fake dating, bad first impression, love letters.

Rep: Men's mental health, Organ donation, Kidney Disease.

Briana wants a promotion. She has all but been promised the head of the ER, so when newcomer Jacob Maddox is put forward for the role, she is less than pleased, and she had no problem making this clear to him. After a terrible first impression, the two decide to start afresh, communicating via post it notes and letters, and later phone calls.

While they get to know each other, Alex does something incredible that leads Briana to feel like she owes him whatever he wants. And what he wants is a fake date to his brother (and EX GIRLFRIENDS) wedding so his family will stop fawning over him. And fake dating... well, it never stays truly fake does it? Especially if you were half in love before you started.

The book is everything I wanted it to be. It is emotional, angsty, steamy and sweet. Jacob is an actual cinnamon role - Jimenez wrote him so well. He's soft, but not a push over, and he isn't defined by his mental health issues (although the reputation is 10/10). Briana is feisty, and fiercely loyal to those she loves. I adored them both, and loved reading their love story.

Also, if you loved Part of Your World (like me), the two books are linked - Briana is Alexis' best friend, and Alexis and Daniel make an appearance in this book (and they are as loved up as ever).

Overall, this was a clear 5 stars for me, and I really recommend picking it up when it releases on April 11th!

Thank you to Abby Jimenez, Little Brown Book Group and NetGalley for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.

4.5/5

I pretty much finished this book in less than 12 hours (with a little bit of sleep inbetween)!
There was so much that I liked about it; the pacing, the characters, the anxiety represention, the dialogue.

Jacob is one of the sweetest male leads I've ever come across. Almost (definitely) too good to be true, but I adored him and really felt for him as he struggled with his social anxiety. All in all there were so many lovable characters, I'm finding it hard to find something I didn't like about any of them.
There was one part nearer the end (if you know you know) that I always find quite jarring as a plot point in novels but it didn't make me enjoy the book any less as a whole.

This was my first book by Abby Jimenez and it won't be my last!

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for allowing me to read the ARC.

This book was so sweet 🥰 I usually get really frustrated by a miscommunication trope but the fact that a lot of it stemmed from Jacob’s anxiety actually made it make sense to me. As someone who deal with anxiety, it not only made sense but it also healed a little part of my heart that blames myself and my anxiety for ruining things. I can’t remember a time when I thought a miscommunication trope didn’t ruin a story for me but this one worked. The characters were amazing, I’m fully in love with Jacob and I love to get behind a fake dating trope.

When I tell you to rush to your nearest bookstores, buy it and read it as soon as it comes out... I'm not even kidding. This book will get you out of your reading slump.
Abby Jimenez is such a talented and beautiful author and her words are like poetry on paper. I was awe-struck the entire time.
Jacob has officially made it to the top of my list of fictional boyfriends. If I only he was real or if I could get my hands on him somewhere... 💳💥💳💥💳💥💳💥💳
I am gonna be thinking about Briana and Jacob non-stop now for an unhealthy amount of time now cause I'm obsessed👀😩.... They were so perfect together and made me swoon so much!!🤍
Jacob is definitely gonna be your next favourite book boyfriend y'all... He was so sweet, caring and swoon-worthy... He was a dream come true in a book. The way he always looked after Briana, her needs, and did the sweetest little things for her. Ahh... My heart couldn't handle it. He is perfect and can do no harm.🥺🤌🏻
Briana was so perfect for Jacob. She understood all his silences, took special care of him in social situations, did everything she could so he wouldn't get anxious, and was such a badass for the glitter thing😂 (iykyk)..
They were perfect for each other... They were like two missing pieces of a puzzle. They completed each other so perfectly... It made my heart so happy.
I will forever recommend this book to people... And forever recommend Abby's books to everyone. She is for sure, one of my top authors to recommend now.
*GO AND READ THIS BOOK AS SOON AS YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON THIS!!!*

Abby is such a beautiful and natural story teller all her books are amazing and if you haven't checked them out yet you are missing out.

In this book we meet Briana who is strong, determined, knows her own worth, doesn't take any shit from anyone. But she is also facing some struggles, she is in the midst of a divorce, her brother is on the organ donor list and the promotion that she thought was hers is going to go to someone who is already cause drama in her life.

Let's meet the person Briana thinks at first she dislikes. Enter centre stage Jacob, who isn't looking to make frenamies and instead writes Briana a really heartfelt letter, which just shows her how genuine, sweet, funny, wonderful and dreamy he is and just like that the two are in a letter sending loop and having lunch together, talking about everything from tiny horses to real life emotional events.

Jacob and Briana are meant to be together and are perfect for each other. Not only that but Jacob is also the perfect match for Briana's bother. Which is why it was so frustrating that there was this miscommunication thing going on. I mean yes I know there needs to be some drama and some will there won't they in the storyline to keep some people engaged. But I would have just been really happy to go along for their beautiful love story. I don't think the drama was necessary at all. But overall another really enjoyable read.

I’ve loved every single one of Abby Jimenez’s books so naturally, this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023. I knew it was going to be amazing but it managed to surpass my expectations and just a few chapters in, I knew this was going to be one of my favourite books of the year. I’m obsessed!😍

Jacob was one of the dreamiest book boyfriends I’ve read about if not THE dreamiest. He was so kind and genuine and the way he loved Briana was the sweetest thing. Briana was truly amazing as well; she was strong and determined and didn’t take shit from anyone, which I love.

I was hooked from the very first time they met. Jacob and Briana are 100% soulmates and I loved seeing them get to know each other and heal from their past relationships. It certainly was a rollercoaster and made me feel a range of emotions but ultimately it was all worth it. I couldn’t have asked for anything else.

The anxiety rep is so realistic and accurate I could have sworn Abby’s been inside my brain lol. The way I saw so much of myself in Jacob was almost scary but it’s also comforting to know I’m not alone. I just wanted to give him the biggest hug. The way Briana understood his struggles, defended him and did everything she could to help him deal with situations she knew would be stressful was absolutely amazing. No wonder he fell in love with her so fast - I would have too.

The only thing I didn’t love was the miscommunication trope, which I’m really not a fan of. Sometimes I just wanted to scream at them because things would be so much easier if they just sat down and talked but alas, it took a while for that to happen. Still, I was able to get over that and loved the book.

★ 5/5 Stars ★

I loved Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez so I was so excited to be approved for an early copy of this book. Once again, Abby has written a brilliant romcom. The characters are likeable and relatable although not perfect and the storyline was realistic and entertaining. I absolutely loved Jacob and his kindhearted nature. There is some great banter and chemistry between Jacob and Briana and I loved getting to see Daniel and Alexis again.
This is a refreshing and fun romcom that I absolutely flew through! Highly recommend!
