After a humiliating breakup with her boyfriend and a subsequent rift with her family, Amy runs away to London to lick her wounds and start her life over and start a new career making tv trailers. Soon she meets her hot new neighbor, who happens to be an ex reality show contestant, who has some healing of his own to do. They decide to work together to write a new script to bring to the network, and just as Amy is feeling confide that things are finally going her way, her ex makes a sudden reappearance, which resurfaces a lot of unresolved emotions and issues at work that Amy has to deal with before she can move forward with Jake and with her career.
I liked watching Amy get her strength back and get over the humiliation and use it to her advantage. My criticism would be the use of the F word. So un-lady like. I know, I know. It’s 2023. I get it, but still I could do without it. But it was still a fun read overall
Thanks to G.P. Putnam Son’s for this eArc in exchange for my review.

This was a cute book. I appreciate that it was fairly clean. I felt the romance was a little forced at the beginning though and it could’ve easily been a little shorter.

Slow burn romance at its finest! Chemistry is very much there! The buildup to thinking it’s about to get spicy is so fun and then you’re like ohhhh ok next time! Fun story, fun read! A definite beach read & book club pick!

Quick, easy read with likeable characters. At times the main character, Amy, annoyed me with being gullible and making unintelligent decisions, but this helped me to stay engaged with the plot. I was pleased with the ending, and most importantly glad she had The Sweetest Revenge :)
At times, some parts felt quite rushed which was frustrating, but still an enjoyable read!

Oh what a delight this book is! I read The Summer Job by Lizzy a couple of years ago which was a 5 star read for me, so I jumped on the opportunity to be on the blog tour for The Sweetest Revenge!
MC Amy is relatable and a breath of fresh air. She’s smart and witty and I truly felt her pain while being duped by Chris however it did hurt my heart that she didn’t visit her family for such a long time and dismissed them constantly.
Jake is just dreamy and I enjoyed the sizzling chemistry between him and Amy. I can’t help but find 🌶️ spicy🌶️ books cringey so I was pleased that there wasn’t overwhelming amounts of saucy scenes, just sprinkles of spice here and there.
Overall this story is a lighthearted one, laden with genuinely funny humorous moments, injected with some good ol’ romance AND topped off with a piping hot dish of revenge - I loved how Amy got her own back on Chris the twat!

Amy is a former TV development executive whose life blows up in the most spectacular fashion. After her boss/boyfriend votes against a project she's worked to bring to life, she gets drunk and ends up peeing on the top of his Audi! Of course, in a world of smartphones, the video is caught by a disgruntled former employee, who releases the video. Now, Amy is in London, working as a lower-level marketing professional, cutting teasers for cheesy reality shows and children's shows.
Jake is her new downstairs neighbor, but she's already familiar with him. He had a spectacular blow-up of his own on a Love Island-like reality show. Not only is he spinning out due to his newfound reality show infamy, but also the loss of his dad and the stuttering of his writing career.
When Amy gets the chance to move back into development by pitching a new show, she teams up with her handsome downstairs neighbor. Unfortunately, that boss/boyfriend makes a reappearance and she's forced to grapple with that history, while also avoiding the sparks flying between her and Jake.
I would definitely label this more on the women's fiction side of things over romance, despite the glossy pink picture. Yes, there's definitely romance, but it's a very slow burn and pretty mild. There's just as much about learning how to deal with the hand you've been dealt and learning to get past your worst moments.
That final point is definitely important to the book, but I didn't feel as connected to it as I could have. It doesn't really feel like Amy deals with the repercussions of her viral fame, even though we're later told she does in large part because of how Jake handles his own missteps. I think, ultimately, it's because I don't connect well with the two main interests. We don't actually learn a whole lot about who they are, other than that Amy used to be a shark and Jake is very handsome.
Despite that, it's a very quick read with plenty to keep things moving.
* Thank you to G.P. Putnam and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review! *

This is a five-star read that will make you smile. You will fall for Amy as you read her story, if you don’t understand at least one of her moments, then maybe its an idea to go a little crazy. I was an emotional wreck, from the gut-wrenching disappointment that led to the moment, or the joy you feel when she hops some transport. This is great, honestly, I never thought I would find moments with a supermarket checkout person so funny. This is a great story, by a great author, and you desperately need to read it, even if it’s so you don’t have an embarrassing video like Amy does, but do you know what, if you do, then own it like she does.

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
"You, Amy Duffy, are not just one bad day in July. You are not a hashtag. You are not a trending topic. You are thirty-two years of awesomeness.”
The Sweetest Revenge follows Amy Duffy. After being betrayed by Chris, her boyfriend/boss, Amy decides to skip her cousins wedding and drink away her pain. After taking many shots, someone catches the most embarrassing video of drunk her which ends up going viral. Amy decides to start a new life in London. It’s been two years since the video that ruined her life and career and things seem to be okay until her ex Chris is hired as the new interim boss at her job.
✨The Sweetest Revenge is a sweet and lighthearted rom-com. You know the book is about to be fire when the author throws in multiple “C bombs” early on in the book LOL. The humor in this book was right up my alley and I honestly haven’t read a book that made me laugh this much in a while.
Amy is such a strong FMC. She’s dysfunctional in the best way possible, funny as hell, smart, and so relatable. I loved her and Jakes banter. You could feel their chemistry from the moment they met and the tension between these two characters was HOT. Chris was the most misogynistic jerk ever and he deserved everything that happened to him towards the end lol. There’s just something about a woman forgiving herself and taking back her power that is so inspiring.
Overall, I thought this book was a well paced, quick, and really fun read. I feel like this would be the perfect book to bring with you on vacation or to get you out of a slump. The spice is also pretty mild so if that’s your thing, you would love this! I definitely recommend!✨
Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for sending me an eARC for this book.

I absolutely adored this book and I’m desperate for the hardback to complete my Lizzy Dent hardback collection 😍 ngl I went into this one blind as I knew I would just love it as I’ve loved both of Lizzy’s books prior, but boy did this one hit the punch. I couldn’t put it down and felt so close to this world in particular, as Amy, our FMC works in the world of television and I’ve always had a passion in media (and have worked on a few TV shows in the past). I love reading not only about the book publishing world, but also about film, tv and production, (fun fact, I also had my own production company just before 2020). I really loved Jake’s character, he was a perfect fit for Amy and I appreciated how shy and introverted he was, but not too much so that he came across and unaccessible. He brought out exactly what he needed to in Amy and vice versa. Another thing that I appreciate was the lack of sex scenes. People assume with a book that features romance, that you’ll get some steamy scenes but not in this one and it was perfect. The tension alone is all you need and not all books need sex scenes for the sake of it. Thank you Lizzy for always writing the perfect stories that have soul and heart in the middle of them. I cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this when it’s out 25th July! And then I’m already waiting on book number 4! 🥰 This is definitely one of my favourites of 2023 so far for sure ♥️ another one to suggest for the book club aka The Lizzy Dent Appreciation Society 🔥
Thank you to @netgalley and @lizzydent for this #gifted #arc in exchange for an honest review. The Sweetest Revenge is out on the 25th July 2023 so go grab yourself a copy asap!! 📺 💕

I tried picking up this book multiple times and I just couldn't keep doing it to myself. I was drawn in first by the cover and then the synopsis, so I was really excited to read it! The characters seemed one dimensional and shallow and the story just didn't really grab my attention.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader.

Lizzy Dent’s signature witty and fun writing style shines through yet again! Amy Duffy is my kind of heroine: sharp, lovable, and still figuring life out.
After a video of her getting revenge on her ex goes viral and spirals her entire life off its axis, she decides a move to London to preserve what she has left of her career (and her dignity)!
Enter: Jake, her hot new neighbor who she instantly recognizes from UK’s popular online dating show with an equally disastrous and embarrassing past.
I adored this book! I absolutely loved the slow burn, the friendship that formed between Jake and Amy, the forbidden romance element, and the workplace drama! I laughed and cried and ate every word up!!! I especially enjoyed the pacing and the way the story wrapped up. Definitely a hit in my book!!

What a quick and fun romance and my favorite—set in London. The classic fake boyfriend but also coworker trope. Amy Duffy was hilarious and I could relate to her in so many ways. I need this to become a movie.
Only 4 stars because I think it lacked spice where there should have been at least a little more. There was such a HUGE build up and then nothing. You fell for these characters and loved them and then it was like whomp whomp.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, let’s set the scene… Amy, our MC has drunkenly tanked her rising TV producer career after executing revenge on her ex’s Audi, great idea at the time! She’s swiftly upped her roots and dragged them to London in a move that will hopefully give her a fresh start, new place, new me, right?! Fast forward two years and that’s where we are… New prospects in her career are peaking through and there’s some heat blowing from the direction of downstairs, everything’s looking up!! Then… A familiar face is hired as her new boss, a face she’d fled her life over… yep… the ex with the Audi.
I found this read one of THE most excruciating slow burners EVER! Jake, the guy from downstairs was definitely changing the temperature for our Amy! I loved how their relationship grew and played out.
There were plenty of moments where Dent sets the laughs rolling and she addresses some more uncomfortable topics in a manner that’s easily read and very relatable. We’ve also got the ex, Chris. I loved to hate him and he was written very well.
Overall, a relatable MC in Amy who you root for throughout, a tension filled neighbour to lover trope, some solid plot points and this makes up a great rom-com.

Ok this cover definitely drew me in and the beginning started off so strong, the NYC setting, the job in the TV world and her sucky boyfriend. I loved the insight into copywriting/ screen writing/ tv world and I loved Amy’s character, she was relatable and fun to read. But while the beginning had my hooked I found myself getting bored throughout, the slow burn romance was a little bit to slow for me. This book is perfect for a beach or vacation read and I’d definitely give another of Lizzy Dent’s a shot!

I have read and very much enjoyed Lizzy Dent’s previous books and so I was thrilled to be able to read The Sweetest Revenge.
Wow. This is Lizzy Dent’s best yet. It’s fantastic. I read this voraciously, I couldn’t put it down.
Amy is a very likeable and relatable protagonist. She has been treated so badly by her evil ex, Chris, that she is plagued by self doubt and guilt. She has estranged herself from her family, and instead of developing television programmes, she’s working on trailers for a small London TV company. She can’t get over her public humiliation two years previously in New York.
Her new neighbour, Jake, a writer, knows all about public humiliation. He has withdrawn into himself to regroup and recover. Amy and Jake are drawn to each other, but are both wary.
The interaction between Amy and Jake is adorable. They are so good for each other, they bring the best of each other out, and each encourages the other to face their demons. They ignore their feelings so they can work on a script together, one that Amy needs to pitch for her.dream job. The script that they write is fabulous, I could happily read or watch it.
I almost can’t put into words how much I loved this book, I have a total book hangover having finished it.
Amy and Jake are wonderful, realistic and lovable. The supporting characters are well rounded and it feels like the reader is truly a part of the story. Amy’s family are bonkers, her friends are talented and loyal, and her nemesis is truly awful.
I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s fast moving, emotional and it has the most satisfactory ending.
This author’s books get better and better, I can’t wait to read more.

My interest was piqued by the comparisons to Bridesmaids and I was not disappointed! This is a fun opposites-attract romance that doesn't take itself too seriously. I loved Amy & was rooting for her the whole time!

This is my first Lizzy Dent book and what a delight! This is definitely the perfect beach read! I loved the beginning of this book and was completely hooked when Amy has her “humiliating incident”. To be honest, I think many of us can relate to what she does after being scorned by an ex!
The Sweetest Revenge follows along on Amy’s journey as she runs away from New York to London for a fresh start. There she meets Jake, who is also trying to start fresh, and together they take on the production world. I found their chemistry and their banter so endearing! I also really loved Amy's character development and found her very relatable. I zipped through this one and is the perfect summer read!
Thank you @netgalley and @putnam for the early copy!
3.85 stars!
This one is out 7/25!

Stop what you are doing and add this book to your ‘to buy list’
I have previously enjoyed two of @liz dents reads so I was really excited to start this, and it didn’t disappoint.
It’s such a light, sweet but funny read. You cannot read it and not fall in love with the main character Amy. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this read. Even the characters you’re not supposed to like, you sort of like to hate them.
I saw that the book was described as Bridesmaids meets Emily in Paris, and I can confirm, that is the vibe that I got. Perfect summer read, but I’ve read it whilst on my lunch in the sunshine which has been nice.
So, overall, if you enjoyed Dents other books then this is for you but if you are new to this author, read it! You will love it!
Lizzy Dent is officially with 3/3 fantastic reads now on my ‘authors I will automatically buy books by’ list!

Amy is a hot-shot television guru in NYC, and she just happens to be dating her boss. That is, until he betrays her on the work front and ends up humiliating herself trying to extract revenge on him. Ashamed, Amy flees to London where she finds work making television trailers. She's happy enough, until she learns her company is merging with a US-based company and they're starting a development team. Amy is ecstatic until she realizes her ex has been brought in to head the division.
Unwilling to let history repeat itself, Amy ropes in her new, sexy neighbor Jake, into helping her write a script she can pitch to win a spot on the new team. As she gets to know him, she realizes they may have more in common than she originally thought.
The Sweetest Revenge is a quick-witted rom-com with relatable characters and a fast-moving plot. I loved how flawed of a character both Amy and Jake were, and how they both made mistakes that were something I could see myself doing (well, not all of them). The tie-in with both Amy and Jake's families also drew me into the plot.
The only thing that took me out of the book was (and this is my thing, not sure how many would notice) was that some of the things Amy and her family (American) said were put in a very British way. This makes sense because the author is British, but it did make me look twice.
It was a super cute book that I'd recommend to anyone who loves an international rom-com!

At the beginning of The Sweetest Revenge, we meet Amy and her boyfriend Christ, right on the eve of disaster. While Amy's personal life is cringe inducing, Dent's writing is still fun and engaging. After her breakup, Amy moves to London for a change of pace and we meet the MMC, Jake, her neighbor.
I found Amy to be an entertaining if slightly-less-than-believable MC. She does make some questionable third act decisions which made it hard to root for her but at least fleshed her out a bit. I think there could have been a bit more build up to the romance between Jake and Amy but in the end, I found their story sweet and compelling.
I took this on vacation with me and it was the perfect vacation book. I'm prone to crying in the sad leadup of a romance but this one didn't induce tears and I'm glad it's what I loaded to my e-reader for this trip.
Readers of Emily Henry and contemporary romance will enjoy this offering; it's the perfect summer release.
