I was initially drawn to this book because of the cover, but I didn't like Amy's character. She wasn't likeable and it was a little difficult to keep wanting to read the book. But I did really like Jake. He was very sweet and likeable and Maggie was okay too. Overall, the book was an okay read. It wasn't my favorite, but some other people will probably like it just fine.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for providing the ARC.

I was intially drawn to this book because of the cover and because one of my favorite authors said they loved the book. However, this book was very middle of the road.

I didn't find Amy to be a great character. To me, she wasn't very likeable and I don't necessarily think she demonstrated enough growth over the story for that to be redeemed. While I recognize that the main tag for this book is general fiction, they have romance listed as the second, and I didn't really feel that. There was a lot of slow burn build up with very little payoff. Additionally, I'm not a fan of conflicts that can be resolved with a simple conversation.

Overall, it's a fine book. Some people will enjoy it, others won't. It's just not my favorite.

Overall, I liked this book. It was cute and Amy’s drunken revenge viral moment made me laugh out loud (and also feel some secondhand embarrassment). Also I’m a sucker for anything set in London. I loved exploring the city with the main characters as they worked to develop their TV show idea.

Amy wasn’t my favorite main character, but I didn’t dislike her either. I have a hard time believing that she felt her drunken revenge moment was so bad that she couldn’t face her family for years, especially when her family kept begging her to visit. It felt a bit childish.

Jake was great though. He was so sweet and I loved all the work he put into their shared rooftop terrace. He also just seemed like a genuinely great guy. I also thought Amy’s best friend Maggie was a fun compliment to Amy’s character. I’m happy she found love too.

However, I feel like the romance was lacking. There’s a lot of talk of sexual tension, but it’s the ultimate slow burn. They don’t officially get together until the last page and then it’s fade to black. I prefer a little more spice in my books, but I’m not docking it any points for lack of heat either. I just feel like waiting until the last minute for the characters to get together didn’t give the book enough time for their romance to fully develop.

Thank you to NetGalley, PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, and G.P. Putnam's Sons for this ARC to review .
The cover is what initially drew me in - it's bright, it looked fun! Unfortunately, the story fell really flat for me. To me, the FMC wasn't likeable and there wasn't enough relationship building between her and the other characters. There just wasn't enough substance.

Two years after a bad breakup/losing her job/public humiliation going viral, Amy's trying to overcome her fear of further humiliation and get her life back on track. And her sexy new neighbor might just be the key to her success.

Amy stands for everyone who's ever had their heart broken only to impulsively seek revenge and get bitten by the impulse. I love that while she ran to the UK and took a safe job, she was still willing to try to overcome her fear of further humiliation. Even when her ex bf/boss is hired as her new boss, she doesn't give up. Jake made an interesting contrast as he too suffered public humiliation - how he handled his fear and his willingness to step outside his comfort zone to help Amy with her new project.

This is a sweet slow burn with humor and a vulnerable but gooey love interest.

Poor Amy was about to make her big break when her boyfriend/boss double crossed her. Her revenge went viral and forced her to start over in London. As she is building her confidence back, she meets her neighbor, Jake, who has gone through a similar heartache. Together, they bravely face the world again and approach second chances in work and romance. I thought this was a cute story and it kept me turning the pages all the way til the end.

Enjoyable, as is expected with a Lizzy Dent book, but definitely not my favorite of hers. Loved the concept, did't like the MC much.

Amy Duffy, a rising TV producer, stalls her career after a very drunken night where she gets her revenge on her boss/ex-boyfriend's Audi. Amy makes a quick getaway to London and starts over making trailers for a British TV channel. Every morning Amy tells herself that she is not her past and things are looking up. And they are. She's finally getting her producer spark back, the cute new neighbor and her are hitting it off, and a competition at work has Amy diving back into the work she loves. Things are finally going her way, until one day, her ex-boyfriend/boss shows up as a new department head at her work-and will be the deciding factor in the work competition. In cringe-worthy, hilarious events Amy struggles through juggling her past and present and coming out on top. The Sweetest Revenge is a great, entertaining read that will not disappoint.

Amy Duffy, after a night of drunken revenge on her ex/boss, has escaped to London for a fresh start—only two years later her past is back as her ex is hired as her new boss, but a work competition that has her partnering with her cute downstairs neighbor has rethinking everything in Lizzie Dent’s The Sweetest Revenge. I haven’t read a Lizzie Dent book before, but I will definitely be picking up her backlist. This was funny and light, and Amy was so relatable. And her neighbor Jake was so sexy and endearing—he was vulnerable and kind, and I loved him. I didn’t love their communication at the end, I feel like it was something if they had communicated with each other the conflict could’ve been fixed, but that was my only issue. I loved the slow burn of them as they fought against their attraction for the integrity of their writing project, and the tension between them was so good. Their understanding of each other was so heartwarming—the whole story was super heartwarming, and I just had a lot of fun reading it. It’s light and honest and feels like a perfect summer read! I’m excited to go back and read more of Lizzie Dent!

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. This is my first time reading anything by Lizzy Dent and I fell in love with her characters. I was rooting for Amy the whole way through.

Thank you to the publishers for the ARC through NetGalley. I can’t wait to read more by this author!

I fell into this story so easily, I loved that it revolves around television - one of my favourite things is TV / Film BTS! The writing was so easy to follow and I found it easy to imagine the characters and the environments they were in. I loved Jake (I couldn't stop picturing Sebastian Stan as him!), Amy I enjoyed at points and other times found her overbearing. But overall I loved the book, and will definitely be picking more up by this author!

Two years ago, Amy experienced the worst day of her life when her boyfriend shut down a project she’d been working on for years and then her revenge of peeing on his car was videotaped and spread online. Soon after, she fled to London to take a job outside of TV development. When she hears her company is opening a new development branch, she is excited. But then she finds out her ex is going to be heading the dept. She teams up with Jake, a screenwriter, for the pitch. Amy learns that revenge might come at the cost of a new relationship.

Overall, this was a cute romcom. I liked Amy and Jake and their dynamic, but for a while I wasn’t sure if Jake was interested because he wasn’t really overtly flirty. I was like ok maybe this is a get back with an ex book. But then Chris was so minor outside the very beginning and then the end. It really felt like he didn’t need to be there except for the last ¼ of the book. I think maybe Dent could’ve made the desire for revenge clearer throughout the buildup as it’s not really the focus as is. Despite these confusing bits, I thought it was a fun read!

I ultimately liked this one, but I definitely did not love the main character, Amy. She frustrated me almost the entire book. She made some awful choices and then continued to make questionable ones even after she said she learned from her past.

I understood her desire to fix the past and get a great show created. And I liked seeing her develop a relationship with her neighbor, Jake. It was nice to see how they opened up to each other slowly.

Amy’s ex was awful and I am glad that he got what was coming to him.

Overall entertaining, but not my favorite. (3.5)

This book was hilarious! There was a little too much detail in the script or the people that worked with her and her hex made her fire. But other than that it was so funny !
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book. Loved it! The only negative for me was too much detail about the script being written. But I was rooting for Amy, rooting for all the characters really, except the obvious (not saying to reduce spoilers). I loved the relationships between Amy and her family, friends, colleagues, etc.

Such a fun read, with unique storylines around Love Island and TV production, and a British twist. Closed door romance so while light on the steam, the slow burn was divine. My only gripe was that I actually struggled with Amy’s character and how she treated Jake. You won’t be able to put this one down. Thank you for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After an alcohol-fueled revenge attack on her boss/boyfriend’s fancy car becomes the latest viral video, Amy Duffy’s TV production career is ruined and she moves from NYC to London to start over. Just when thing seem to be going well again, her ex is hired as the interim production manager of the company and is up to his old tricks. Will she know better than to trust him again!

A funny and thoughtful story of relationships and the power of perseverance.

A lighthearted, funny rom-com that follows Amy, working to get back in the game within the TV industry, an ex-boss (also her ex) and a new love interest.

Synopsis
Fleeing New York, Amy starts fresh in London - leaving the embarrassment of her last relationship behind.. who was also her boss.

Things are looking up, there's a new role available, one she used to do back in New York, so Amy wants to put her heart and soul into this pitch. But one thing she doesn't expect is her ex-boss, and ex-boyfriend, coming to London and working at her company.

On the bright side, her new neighbour is a screenwriter and has also gone through an embarrassing time. Getting him on board, they start working on a pitch together, trying to keep it strictly professional, however, sparks fly between them. But there's betrayal on the horizon with her ex.. he's the one who has the power to make the pitch decision. Fool me once...

Thoughts
Lighthearted and fun, I loved Amy and Jake together and I also loved Amy's best friend, Maggie.

It was a bit light on the romance side, especially with Amy and Jake trying to keep it professional majority of the time - think we only see one kiss - but I enjoyed seeing them work together to come up with the perfect pitch.

As a tv / book addict I’m always a fan when both collide into a book about tv. It’s just as enjoyable to me as books about books.

This is quite an adorable light funny read that was very enjoyable to read. I have never read from this author before but would definitely read another of her novels.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin house for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Sweetest Revenge was my first read by Lizzy Dent, and it didn't disappoint. It was a fun read starting with a dramatic breakup in the worst way, which ends up bringing flat neighbors Amy and Jake to meet each other.

This chance meet up ends up bringing to light some professional synergies - and time together, does it heal wounds?

Thank you to Netgalley and to Penguin Group for the ARC.
