The Sweetest Revenge had some great banter/funny moments, life lessons learned by the MCs, and great writing. The story had me super invested for the first quarter or so, but that kind of faded. I found some of the pacing of the story to be off, and I really had a hard time believing in Amy and Jake’s love story (these folks did not even kiss until the 96% mark.) I also felt that pretty much the entire plot of the book to be dependent on Amy’s shame and naivety, which made her difficult to root for at times. Overall, this was a 2.5 star read for me.

As an American with friends in the UK and having spent a lot of time there, I really quite enjoyed The Sweetest Revenge! I have often dreamt of leaving my life and moving to London, maybe not for the reason the main character, Amy needs to leave though. The Sweetest Revenge was a fun one to read. I LOVE British humor so I loved catching myself laughing at some of the scenes that were very British. I haven't read many books where the main character went viral for something and needed to bounce. I liked the balance of Amy as the main character. She is likeable but at times you want to yell at her and say "what are you thinking?!" every good antagonist has the balance. Going viral can never be easy especially when it's for something that may not be considered tasteful (but still hilarious). Heartbreak is hard and even two years after Amy is still learning that and I think that is very relatable. It being set in London, I love the sites and sounds the author brought to the pages. I could imagine the streets Amy is walking down and even the courtyard where her and Jake build their relationship. I loved Jake as a character. I liked that he was Welsh and not just another guy from London. He knew who he was, even when he was unsure of his next career step, he knew his values and what he wanted. I liked his pace as a leading man and his personality and playfulness grew as the book kept going.
Overall, I quite enjoyed this read, but I found myself finishing the book and wanting a bit more. I thought the beginning and the story setting was a bit fast and I wanted a bit more back story before it jumped two years. Will I read it again when it's released, absolutely!

After a night she regrets leads to a viral video of Amy that ruins her career, she runs away to London to start over. This story of moving on, forgiving yourself, and recognizing your own self-worth was hard to put down. Jake and Amy had amazing banter that helped our road-trip fly by. Highly recommend this one!

This was not what I was expecting, but still a good read. Although I really liked the writing, I felt myself struggling a little to connect with the characters and feel the chemistry between the MCs. Which was a bit disappointing, but not enough to make me stop reading.

Overall, I still enjoyed this book and the premise and plot were fun and engaging enough to keep pulling me in.

The title is a bit misleading; I was expecting more and the "revenge" came late. Other than that, this was an enjoyable book about Amy, who goes viral in a bad way. She runs away and starts a new life in London, but then her past comes back to haunt her.

3.5/5 stars! I admit I picked up this book just because of the cover. I found the premise to be exciting and the story drew me in from the very first page. This book had the weird setup, however, of having a MMC that is basically just a dude version of the FMC. This made their chemistry feel a little off to me. Amy is a flaming cheeto of a hot mess, but I loved this. It was so genuine and entertaining. My recommendation would be to add a little more spice because the romance didn't hit home. But the rest of the story was humorous and enjoyable.

I’ve been a fan of Lizzy Dent’s since her debut novel and was thrilled to get a copy of her newest book, THE SWEETEST REVENGE. And as a TV-lover who interned for a talk show, learning that it was based in the television production world, just made me even more excited to jump in.

Amy has escaped to London after a humiliating video of her post-breakup goes viral, but the chance at getting a job similar to the one she loved and was great at in New York, has her breaking out of a two-year rut and teaming up with her screenwriter new neighbor, Jake, who is nursing some wounds of humiliation and grief himself.

I loved so much about THE SWEETEST REVENGE, including the actual revenge!, but the aspect that stood out to me the most was Amy and Jake’s (Is this a nod to BROOKLYN 99?!?) working relationship. Just their dynamic, the banter and how they quoted lines from TV shows to each other, had me laughing and kept me engaged enough that I flew through the book so I could see more of their interactions.

And, again, as a TV-lover, all the talk about TV production and the sheer creativity that goes into it, made THE SWEETEST REVENGE that much more enjoyable for me.

Lizzy Dent does it again! What a fun rom-com of a book. Amy Duffy is a TV Developer about to head to her cousin's wedding when her boyfriend drops a huge negative surprise on her, and leads her to drink to much and defile his Audi in a very embarrassing way. She runs away to London, takes a job beneath her, and lives her life in shame of what she did. Jake, a talented writer, goes on a reality TV show (I think Love Island or something like it) because he needs the cash, but realizes it's not for him, jumps off a cliff into the ocean, and ends up moving into the same building where Amy lives. Through some faulty delivery mix ups, they meet, become friends, and become what the other needs to help them get over their shame/embarrassment. They also decide to partner together for a pitch contest at the TV studio where Amy works.

I liked the setting in the TV industry, I liked Jake and Amy as characters. I dislike Chris, the ex-boyfriend, and it did bother me that for as smart and witty Amy is, she got duped by Chris a few times. This is a very fun long smolder of a rom com, that is very clean (no need for fade to black because there is only kissing). That didn't bother me though because the story is well written and snappy. I could see this maybe getting a little stale because there are some very 2022/2023 things in it, but it's super solid and fun.

If you like The Summer Job you'll also like The Sweetest Revenge.

Where to begin? I was super excited to read this book before its July 25 release date. I had read The Setup, which was cute. I enjoyed this book better and read it in two sittings! It has most everything I adore in a rom-com: romance, laugh-out-loud moments, funny and relatable characters, a British police procedural (!!), and a crappy reality TV love show. What’s not to love?

The pros:
- love a 32-year-old trying to find herself after her ex and former boss screws her over, so she proceeds to pee on his car (after many drinks post-breakup) and ends up going viral, flees to London and gets the gumption together to get back on track
- Amy is super relatable. She curses, is awkward, and I think we would be friends in real life.
- Jake is so sweet, and I really liked seeing him grow after his viral moment and how he encourages Amy to get out there too.
- the GoT and other TV references sprinkled throughout the book. (Our girl speaks High Valyrian?). Maybe Jake and Amy’s names are another TV clue? 😊
- Can I please watch the police procedural when it’s made one day?
- I enjoyed learning more about TV development and the various departments and roles that go into it.

The con:
- My only con is that I wish there had been more spice. I loved the slow burn chemistry and flirting between Jake and Amy, but the actual spice was FTB. I know that Dent said she was leaning more into the rom-com genre with this one, so I hope she continues leaning.

Talk about chemistry! I was blown away with Lizzy Dent's intense character development and story telling. The boat scene with Amy and Jake was unreal. I could picture every detail and feel every feeling! The Sweetest Revenge is a must read, you will not be disappointed! 5 stars!

I need to start off that I am stingy to give rom coms a 5 star and after I finished this in one day it was no doubt gonna be a 5. Lizzy Dent sucked me in right away with “The Incident” at the beginning. I really loved the characters and could see myself in Amy and oh man Jake is just so sweet, thoughtful and loved how he and Amy supported each other and saw each others talents. Best friend Maggie is great and want her to be my bestie. Chris is a fun character to dislike for sure. A cherry on top is the setting in
London.

I just love Lizzy Dent!! I adored The Summer Job and The Setup. Now I can add The Sweetest Revenge to that list. I first came across Lizzy by her cute cover art. Since that I have had to have her books. I love her writing and this is no exception! This story focuses on a woman scorned moving on. Amy is so relatable and such a real character! I can’t wait to see what Lizzy writes next!

I love Lizzy Dent's writing, so I was excited to start reading The Sweetest Revenge. It didn't disappoint. Fun, easy to read, and hard to put down.

idk why but the covers of this series make me lol! I really enjoy her writing style. they aren't my favorite books but they are perfect for this time of year and I light the light aspect of them.

"The Sweetest Revenge" by Lizzy Dent is a delightful romantic comedy and a quick, fun read. I liked that our main characters, Amy and Jake, are in their early thirties and dealing with the career and social/familial shifts that often arise during that phase of life; to me they were quite relatable and I was continually rooting for them to succeed. I highly recommend this book as an option for your summer season reading - this would be a great book to enjoy while sipping a colorful, tropical drink by the beach or pool!

This book was a perfect way to escape on the weekend! Once I started, I could not put it down until I finished! I loved the character of Amy, finding her way after a setback and disappointment. You could not help but root for her and Jake to end up together! I want a spin-off so we can find out more about the side characters and what Amy and Jake are up to down the road.

I really enjoyed this author's last book so I was delighted to receive this eARC.

Jude and Indira were SUCH a fun couple to get to know and root for. I really appreciated that it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows and that the author handled PTSD so beautifully. Their funny insults back and forth were hilarious and a good offset to some of the darker themes.

Definitely will be recommending this book to everyone!

This started off super strong! I was immediately intrigued by the first chapter - learning about Amy's job and the betrayal of her ex-boyfriend, Chris. After the humiliating incident, Amy moves to London to lick her wounds and settle into her low-level job making TV trailers. Just as she meets her new hot neighbor and is feeling confident about a potential promotion, her ex makes an appearance at her job, resurfacing a lot of unresolved feelings and emotions.

While I enjoyed reading about Amy and Jake (neighbor/love interest), their relationship wasn't fully developed. Their attraction to each other was evident, but I needed a bit more aside from the fun flirting/banter. They are very similar characters - writers in the film/TV industry, have family troubles, are haunted by humiliating incidents they both regret - which is why they're great together, but I still found myself wondering if that's all that really connected them.

In my opinion, this was much better than The Setup but not as good as The Summer Job. It was a fun read but I had a hard time not being annoyed with Amy and the whole situation with Chris. Also it takes a loooong time for our main characters to finally officially get together (I'm talking about 95% of the book was done) and I wanted more out of that sooner (not that there weren't some really good scenes before then and I understood the reasoning behind it, but still).
