This is such an adorably cute love story! It reminded me of the movie 27 Dresses, but with a much better setting in a French Castle.
I loved some of the silly situations Merry got herself into. They were pretty funny. I thought Merry and Noah were very cute/likable characters and I kind of wish there would be a second book to this one. I’m not always ones for a series, but I think there could definitely be a spin off to this book.
Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
This was such a fun book to listen to thanks to Kelsey Navarro. Seeing how the relationship grew from them never getting along, to ending up being friends was enjoyable. If you like romantic comedy, this is the book for you!
Thank you NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Went to listen to this book today, but it was unfortunately archived before I had a chance to listen it. ☹️
I am so glad I was approved to listen to the audiobook version of this book.
I found myself hooked from the start. I love myself a good Rom Com and this one did not disappoint. It's equal parts silly, fun, and romantic all in one!
I know some people may not like this book and it may feel too silly for others, but I really did enjoy my time listening to this audiobook. I can't wait to buy a physical copy of the book to add to my bookshelves!
Sarah Ready romance set in France? Sign me up! Enemies to lovers, one bed, a light conversational style, and a beautiful French setting (minus the chateau) make this book a dream to listen to!
Mary needs to get away. When she gets an opportunity to stay at a chateau rent-free in France for a few months she jumps on it. When she arrives, she realizes the chateau is not what it seems, and even worse - her enemy Noah has already rented it! She's not sure what's worse - being holed up with Noah or the rats.
This was a delightful read. I enjoyed the quirky change to the setting - it's not all so perfect which adds an entertainment value and some laughs. Mary and Noah are fun characters to watch grow and develop - both personally and in their relationship.
Definitely would recommend as a fun summer read, and I will definitely also be reading anything else Sarah Ready has for us!
Thank you to Swift and Lewis Publishing and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!
After four years of friendship, Merry will finally be telling Leo, her best friend, that she is in love with him. Or she would if her sister Angela didn’t call her to ask for help. Leo goes along and meets Angela. The next day Merry is given the news that Leo and Angela will get married. Fast? Definitely.
After suffering through the wedding, having to fire more than fifty colleagues, resigning from work, and learning that she will be an aunt, Merry decides to fly away to France, to her godmother’s castle.
All seemed dreamy until she arrived. The castle is old and needs a lot of work, Noah - Leo’s best friend and someone Merry doesn’t get along with - is also staying there, and there is only one bed in the castle!
This book is funny and mysterious - I loved it! We have all the romance and steam we would like and more depth with a mystery about Noah’s work. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed with these two!
The writing is fluid and easy to read, the characters are interesting and likable, and the plot is captivating.
As for the audiobook, it does justice to the book. The voices are pleasant and distinguishable, and we feel what the story is trying to tell us. An amazing narration!
4.5*
What a fun ready! We are introduced to our leading lady Merry on the day of her baby sisters wedding day, as she watches her get married to the man she is in love with. *gasp* it’s about this point she decides she needs an escape. Enter in eccentric auntie with a free vacation stay at her castle in France. (sounds perfect, right?) All the way till she gets to France and sees a castle as crumbling as her life and her longtime arch nemesis saying he paid to stay there for the summer🤦🏽♀️
Needless to say, there are shenanigans and humor to be had. I loved every minute of this story line. Between the instant hate relationships Merry and Noah have to the “there’s only one bed” trope. It is a mix of all my favorite romance tropes and I am here for it.
Would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great summer romance read. One chalked full of tropes and a character that deviate the circumstances being very wild, she stayed very relatable with your thoughts and insecurities.

Merry watched her sister marry the man she loves. She then decides she is going to travel to France for 3 months. 1 small Chateau and 1 travel filmmaker and some sparks. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to listen to this book in exchange for my honest feedback!
This read was a perfect rom com to listen to if you're a fan of Emily Henry, or Christina Lauren! It gave me major Unhoneymooner vibes with the banter between a best man and a maid of honor. I am a big fan of enemies to lovers and this story unfolded beautifully in the city of love. The main character was quirky, cute, and very authentic and I loved reading about a girl who just is and doesn't have any sort of facade, etc.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book is hilarious. I had a lot of fun listening to this book while I walked, worked, and waited. I got welcomed into a whole new world. There was lots of tension and very timely scenes of romance.
I didn't relate to many of the characters which made this an interesting read and opportunity to learn and "live" into a different perspective.
3.35⭐
Yes, French Holiday is ridiculously implausible at pretty much every turn. But, if you're willing to suspend your disbelief, it's not a bad story. By the end, I felt that my needs for light, escapist reading were met.
Right out of the gate, Merry is a bit whiny, and certainly a *huge* pushover. Her little sister, Angela, is a self-centered brat; and her “best friend”/crush, Leo, isn’t much of a friend with the way he talks about how much better Angela is than Merry.
Merry's godmother, Jupiter, is the orchestrator of the French chateau trip. [How nice that Merry can afford to up and quit her job in HR and run off to France for months!] The Jupiter character is *way* out there. But her inappropriate gift sense (preceding and separate from the France trip) was amusing.
Noah's family mystery is a big focus. Tertiary (or maybe secondary) characters Pierre and Camille fit in well and contribute to making a more well-rounded romance than is often delivered. That is, the book isn't only focused on the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers trope. The adventures Merry has in France also add to the overall fun and interest of the book.
There is more character- and relationship-development than in many romances. There is very little sex, and it's handled tastefully.
Thank you, NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing, for the audio ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review. Publication is expected April 26.
I previously loved the Josh & Gemma series so I as excited for this one and I absolute adored it! It had a little bit of everything - romance, humor, intrigue and I loved the French setting! I loved how both main characters were given equal attention to their respective family issues. I would’ve given anything to have Noah’s POV! If you enjoy enemies to lovers, and forced proximity, I recommend this one!
Who likes over-the-top slap stick "everything that can go wrong, will" '90s rom-coms?
Then you will (maybe) like this silly, entirely too long, too much going on, rom-com.
Honestly, I think the narrator did the best she could with what she was given. However I just kept picturing an animated movie in my head because this was so SILLY. The descriptions were so lengthy and over the top. At one point I yelled "GET TO THE POINT." While she was describing grass and stone and air and trees. I wanted to DNF so many times.
Premise:
Merry is the bridesmaid at her sister and guy-best-friend's (Leo) wedding. She never spoke up and told Leo how she felt. But ONE night with her sister and Leo is ready to put a ring on it, because THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
Now she's sad. The best man, Noah, acts like a jerk and tells her to get over it. Her sister is a spoiled selfish brat with a short attention span who gets whatever she wants. Her job as an HR assistant is miserable.
Merry's life feels suffocating and she can't watch Leo and her sister for one more second. She quits her job and takes a 3 month long vacation to France.
She shows up and guess who is there... NOAH, the jerk groomsman. Who tells her repeatedly how he will NEVER be with her, doesn't like her and all around acts like he hates her. When at NO SURPRISE TO ANYONE, turns out he was in love with her the whole time - because of course he was. But don't expect to get to that resolution anytime soon because we have a lot to go through to get there people.
So finally arriving at the beautiful castle in France... The "castle" is literally falling apart around them. There is like 1 livable room and a kitchen. There are rats and cockroaches. This is great.
Merry dreams of falling for a charming Frenchman named Pierre and then randomly a new guy just shows up in the plot to flirt with Merry who is the "neighbor" AND HIS NAME IS PIERRE??? And then a woman also shows up to flirt with Noah. I'm so confused.
THEN there is a mystery plot about a ghost and a missing artist. Who might be someone's dad. And then Noah is accused of crimes.
And then MORE ridiculous situations that are wildly unbelievable happen... I give up!
Y'all. This book is LUDICROUS. There are so many unnecessary chapters about nonsense!!! There is a whole chapter about a LOBSTER. I am not even kidding. Merry's inner monologue is long winded and repetitive. This book was too freaking long!
I was more invested in Angela and Leo's plot than Merry and Noah. I only hung around to see if Angela got her due and if Leo every finds out Merry had feelings for him.
I really did not enjoy this. I guess read it if you like chaos?
I grabbled this from NetGalley because it was Listen Now. Thanks to Sarah Ready, Swift & Lewis Publishing and NetGalley for the audio copy. I am leaving my honest review.
Everything that cheesy RomCom movies are made of. You'll want to "eatpraylove" right along with her on a French Holiday. Fall in love in a run down chateau and never return back to your hometown.
I received an advanced listening copy of French Holiday by Sarah Ready through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, and here it is.

Merry witnesses the love of her life, who happens to be her best friend, to get married to her younger sister. This unrequited love is the tipping point of a huge shift in Merry's life. She resigns from her job and temporarily moves to a castle (owned by her Godmother) in France. Unbeknownst to her, Noah, a man she's met a handle of times during wedding festivities who seemingly dislikes her, is there too. Since they're in a big castle, they both decide to stay and do their own thing. However, it isn't as big as they think. They can't escape each other and start getting to know each other.

I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of this story as the characters deal with their own set of issues. I loved the splash of mystery that was in there. I appreciate the growth that both main characters did throughout.

This was my second Sarah Ready book, and I thoroughly enjoyed them!

Noah and Mary are sooo sweet. This is such an easy 5 stars read.
This book just put a smile on my face.
I really loved this book. It was so much more than a typical Rom-Com. I loved that it was set mostly in France. narrator was wonderful. The character development was great. I never would have guessed the ending. I really enjoyed this book. The perfect summer read!!
French Holiday was a breath of fresh air listen to! A great escape from the real world. The main character Merry was so relatable and likeable. I enjoyed the narration of Kelsey Nararro. I really liked this cozy and fun romance! This writing style is fast paced and easy that makes the story easy to read. The French details were great and gave me some recognition. The characters were good described and at some point I could relate to certain aspects. The story gave me a cozy vibe with some unexpected turns.
