This book grabbed my attention from the start as we discover that Meredith has drunkenly purchased a lighthouse without seeing it in person. I mean, who does that?! When she arrives at Driftwood Bay, the lighthouse is very far from the estate agent’s description and it nearly breaks Meredith with all the work that needs doing to it. Except, with the help of the local handyman, Clem, she soon creates the perfect home in a wonderful setting. Will she stay or will she sell it and move on again? After all, as the estate agent reminds her, she will get her investment back – and more – or will Driftwood Bay lure Meredith to put roots down in this idyllic seaside town?
However, after the initial buzz and wonderment about Meredith’s actions, I soon found my interest in the story waning. It didn’t feel too dissimilar to other seaside stories about fresh starts, except some areas could have been developed further. For example, I really would have liked the story to show more about Meredith’s life before the move, before the sale of the lighthouse, just so I could get a better understanding of what makes this middle-aged woman tick. The community around Driftwood Bay seem pleasant enough but there wasn’t a spark that made any character particularly stand out – with the exception of Vi.
Meredith sort of “adopts” Vi, an elderly woman who struggles to get out and about. Meredith starts walking Vi’s dog, and this helps Meredith meet more people around Driftwood Bay. But it was the endearing relationship that builds up between these women that I found most heart-warming, like a mother-daughter connection. Meredith turns to Vi when things start to break down with her and Clem, and I really liked the spirit that Vi demonstrates when it comes to increasing her walking again. This was my favourite element of the story.
Whilst this didn’t set me on fire with its originality, it was still an enjoyable book to read. Easy going, you could predict how the story would develop but I did like how Russell became entangled in Meredith’s life. I was intrigued by some of the other satellite characters, whom I assume will feature later in the series. There are some stereotypical personalities, but I think this added to the genre of the book.
I’m going to continue with this series at some point as I imagine I will settle more into it as the stories progress. Maybe it was because the protagonist was a fair bit older than myself and I struggled to relate to her, I found the plot could have been a bit more original. However, if you are after an easy read at a busy time of year, this is the ideal candidate.
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Fall in love with Kim Nash’s enchanting and emotional new novel, Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove.
Meredith is desperate for a change. With her fiftieth birthday fast approaching, Meredith has taken a long hard look at her life and realised that she cannot go on like this. Stuck in a job going nowhere and lurching from one romantic disaster to the next, when she is browsing the internet one evening and sees an ad for a lighthouse, she bites the bullet and impulsively buys it. Has Meredith just made the biggest of her life? Or will this prove to be the fresh start she had been hoping for?
With local handyman Clem giving her a helping hand, Meredith starts renovating and she immediately finds the hope and purpose that she had been craving. With Clem by her side, Meredith finds a friend who is always willing to help and offer a sympathetic shoulder when needed, but when she discovers that Clem has been keeping a secret from her, everything changes. Can Meredith and Clem find a way to rise above the obstacles standing in their way and find a way to forge forward into the future together? Or should they go their separate ways just when everything had been about to fall into place?
Kim Nash’s Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is an uplifting tonic that will brighten up even the most dismal of days. A heartwarming, feel-good and romantic tale about starting over, fresh starts, healing from old wounds and falling in love, Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is an enjoyable page-turner with a heroine you just cannot help but root for. I loved Meredith and thought how refreshing it was to read a book with a mature and intelligent heroine as opposed to the typical twenty-something characters that often people these books.
A delicious slice of warm-hearted romantic escapism, Kim Nash’s Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is a delightful treat that should not be missed.
Thank you Net Gallery for the chance to read an advance copy of this fantastic book,

I absolutely loved this book, I could just imagine the lighthouse it sounds so super cosy! Such an up lighting read with characters that you can't help but grow to love.
You know when you have a drink and get the impulse to do something crazy?! This is exactly what Meredith does in this beautiful uplifting story. I mean I’ve done some mad things in my time when I’ve got a few drinks down my neck but Meredith beats me hands down. When she goes and bids on a lighthouse in Cornwall…… Boy how I love that place.
We follow Meredith has she sets about renovating the lighthouse with Clem.Kim sets the scene perfectly with her stunning descriptions which made me feel like I was right there in the story.
I adored Meredith and all the characters in this book. They are likeable and also very relatable.Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove It was an absolute joy to read. When a book makes you smile and giggle you know it’s a winner. I devoured it in one sitting. I just couldn’t get enough of it.

Every time I picked up "Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove" I was whisked away with this book that is full of so much heart.
Firstly, I absolutely adore this cover! It is absolutely lovely!
Kim Nash is such an incredible author! Her writing is visceral and detailed, and her characters all feel like such real people that jump right off of the page, and the locations throughout her book are so clear. As the reader, I felt immersed in the world of the book, and could not put this book down.
Meredith purchases a lighthouse, and decides to move to Cornwall and begin anew. I do not want to say too much about the plot due to spoilers, but, I will say, this book has so much in it: humor, wit, heartbreaking moments, heartwarming moments, history, romance, friendship, and so, so much more.
I highly recommend this book! I so look forward to reading what Kim Nash writes next! I so hope to be able to visit Cornwall one day as well!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of this novel, it is incredible! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Warm, gorgeous and utterly lovely!
I think with covers like these, you know what you're getting when you start a book, but that doesn't detract from any of the enjoyment!
This is a 'curl up with a coffee and your kindle on a Sunday afternoon' book, and I loved every minute.
The setting of Cornwall seems to be a popular one lately, and Nash does a wonderful job of describing the area that I could visualise it all.
There is drama of course, watching how Meredith tries to find her way in her life. The lighthouse in the book was certainly appropriate for the story- I'd love to ask Kim Nash if it was intentional!
Fabulous!
I have loved reading author Kim Nash's books. It is so lovely to watch an author grow and come into her own. Whilst I loved all her books to date, I really noticed a difference in Hopeful Hearts at The Cornish Cove. I felt Kim was more confident in her writing. Almost like she learned so much from the writing of her previous books and used it all to create this one. I felt she settled in what she wrote and wrote it with such care for the beautiful characters she created.
I am really excited for this series. I wonder where she will take it. Her characters are solid and so likeable. Clem & Meredith I adored. She created enough characters that she could easily build a story around any one of them.
Well done to Kim, I couldn't have loved it more.
I will come back and attached the link to my review...
Kim Nash is brilliant, I was so excited to see the announcement that @bookandtonic have acquired work from her. It definitely hasn’t disappointed.
I feel like it’s been ages since we had a newbie from Kim Nash. It’s been a million percent worth the wait.
I’ve loved my visit to Cornish Cove. This has been the comfort read I have craved. This is an utter delight from beginning to end.
This is such an enjoyable read from beginning to end. The characters that fill the pages of this are just gorgeous. I love how Nash is able to make us feel as though we know them.
The setting of this is just perfect. I have been completely transported to a very welcome escape.
This book has been everything I have been craving and so much more. Kim Nash is a superb author and this book is a delight.
This is a book worthy of all the stars. A must for the TBR.

A great summer read. Looking forward to reading more from Kim too!
A lovely breath of Cornish air. Kim had created a wonderful community full of great characters that readers will want to visit again and again.
Another great read set in Cornwall. I enjoyed this one mainly because I love Cornwall and go there every year. A fabulous book worth a try. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
That's it, I want to go a buy a lighthouse and live the rest of my life on a beach.
I'm a huge fan of Kim's and there hasn't been a book I've not loved and this was exactly the same. I loved this from cover to cover.
I enjoy books involving restorations and I could picture evert single step in doing up this lighthouse. I loved Meredith and her love of helping people. I can't wait to read what is next from Kim.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun, light, breezy book!
What a utterly fantastic read. Love the impulsive buying of a lighthouse. Great characters, love Clem.
Really lovely story, well worth a read.
My Review: I enjoyed this book, it's well written and easy to follow. There are two fun dogs in the story called Gladys and Charles. We follow Meredith in her new life in Driftwood Bay where she had bought a Lighthouse, we meet the Handyman type called Clem who is a little younger but rather dashing. Leaving her best friend Gabby behind she makes new friends in Gemma, Lucy and Vi. There are some laugh out loud moments and situations I could identify with. Mrs Robinson made me hum to the Lemonheads version of the song. If I had one question to ask the Author it would be, was that deliberate or a Freudian slip? I did cringe at the Chris Martin reference. In all a blooming gorgeous read. I want my own Lighthouse experience. Sorry for being late with this blogtour post, I was not well and sadly sometimes, we have to take care of ourselves. 5 Shiny Stars.
Imagine waking up to find, in a drunken moment you’d bought a lighthouse of all things. I had a friend once that bought a hostess trolley whilst drunk - you guessed it, when it arrived it was for a dolls house, how we laughed!!! Meredith had been living with her childhood, best friend Gabby for the past 12 months since getting a divorce from her husband, life was changing for best friend and Meredith needed to move out to give her space so decided to move to Cornwall and live in the accidental purchase. She thought that it would be the perfect fresh start and just what she needed.
Meredith had surprised not just herself, but her friends too when she packed up and upped sticks. What couldn’t be more idyllic than living near the beach she thought? However, her first impressions of the idyllic coastal Cornish town were watered down, when after the journey from hell, her first encounters with the locals were less than pleasant and her beloved furniture that had been in storage for a year wouldn’t fit through the door of the lighthouse - what had she done?! To top it off she’d clearly been sold a pup! To say the inside of the lighthouse was less than pleasant would be an understatement, filthy, crumbling and damp smelling - what had she done?
Fortunately, for Meredith, she found that not all the villagers were stand-offish and rude. Gemma, the owner of the local cafe/bakery waltzed into the lighthouse bearing tea and cake at just the right moment - sing singing a welcome to Cornwall. They hit it off instantly and this set in motion a string of events that had me oohing, ahhing, aching laughing and cringing in equal measures.
The pages of this delightful story are peppered with humour and often laugh out loud one liners - as well as what you always find in a Kim Nash book, a hearty helping of truth and reality. I absolutely loved it. Strong friendships both old and new. Kim Nash has woven the local characters into this story in such a way that I found myself jumping up, wanting to stick my oar in and get in Merediths or ‘Mere’ as the local carpenter/odd job man calls her corner. I might have frantically searched Rightmove too - I want to move to Cornwall and make friends with everyone too but most of all i want to live in a lighthouse.
I have loved all of Kim’s books but this one is another level, her best yet which I read in one sitting, barely moving position - my coffee going cold on the side. Thank you for this breath of fresh air, just what the doctor ordered on a miserable Friday evening. This was a truly, heart warming story that wove a lot of sunshine into my heart. Through Meredith, Kim portrayed that kindness, openness and honesty win the day. This was a positive feel good book that I’m glad I had the opportunity to read, in a busy world a perfect little bit of escapism.
Meredith needed a change. So she bought a lighthouse unseen in Cornwall. Yes, unseen. Pretty daring move for someone in their 50s.
Clem sounds just what she needed. He was pretty handy in more ways than one. But he's 10 years younger. How was that going to work?
I loved the idea of living in a lighthouse by the sea. But I couldn't get over all the steps she had to do to get to each floor. My knees couldn't take it.
I enjoyed reading this book and followed along with her updates to her lighthouse and her relationships with her new neighbors.
What a wonderful read, it’s one of those books where you really don’t want it to end. All the characters were likeable and easy to relate to, loved it
This is a gentle read which centres on starting over and making new friends in a delightful Cornish village. The story is largely character driven. In the main, the members of t the community respond to Meredith's open manner and generous spirit. Those who don't are revealed to have their own reasons for their attitudes. Meredith's relationship with her mother comes under the microscope and it is clear, that Meredith's early experiences have had a lasting impact on her.
There is always an air of romance in the background but Meredith is super cautious about any new relationships. This is a slow burn romance with the emphasis on friendship and compatibility in the long run. The lighthouse and the setting is gorgeous and so beautifully described. With some quirky, humorous charcters and even a delightful labrador, this is a real feelgood read.
In short: warmth and romance abound
