I just started making videos and found this book a very useful guide. It gives a good overview about the most important aspects. I‘m sure I will reference it a lot during my learning process.
I found this guide very helpful and its a great start if you would like to invest time in video making.
4 stars.
It’s very concise and easy to read, covers the basics. If you’re only thinking about making videos, I’d recommend the book instead of reading a bunch of articles elsewhere. It’s well-structured and has every aspect of what goes into making a video. I think this book can help beginners understand what they need to improve to get better, as sometimes we know something is off, but we can’t figure out what. It’s a good book to start learning video making. If you’ve been shooting videos for some time but only used your instincts, this book can be a helpful resource too.
A beginners step-by-step guide to making video.
Video is everywhere, so as a small business owner I'm well aware I need to skill up to compete.
This book provides a great start on how to create videos for your potential clients.
The book is set out to cover each step, from the concept to story writing to location and lighting.
The book is easy to follow but full of good information for those wanting to learn the art of video making.

This is exactly what I needed before diving into the world of creating YouTube videos. I was unsure of where to start and this has been very informative at the beginning of this journey. I’ll make sure to take what I learn from this book and apply it to my video making.
This was a useful guide to video making, and I read it slowly and will reference it when I need to. It covered all the basics, including what I needed to know. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the book.
Very excited to acquire this title as we get lots of influencers and the like looking for information books to boost their brands. I like the easy to understand information and the way it is presented. It made it easy and accessible for all levels wanting to improve their skills or novice video makers looking to begin.
I've just started making videos for work and the fact this is positioned for YouTube and marketing is perfect. Topics including budgeting and setting objectives are brilliant, a practical book for video in today's world. Thank you
This was quite more extensive of a resource than I expected it to be. It touches upon many aspects of filming I hadn’t taken into consideration and proved to be a quite valuable. Sort of thought it would be a light read but it delves deeper. I’d recommend others interested give it a read to familiarize yourself with the processes and equipment necessary for creating good video content.
It's a nice guide to making video. It's a little bit complicated to the very first beginner but I'm sure the practise is important. It's a long road for me but with this guide everything is possible.
I should preface by saying I am a Photographer with above average knowledge in this field...
I think this book covers an overview of everything you need to know about making videos. It covers equipment (not specifics), gadgets, technical terms, storytelling, marketing, etc. This is a TON of information and for a beginner I would suggest using it as a resource that you go to often rather than only reading it once. Since this is a great overview you can then determine what areas you want to do further research.
I particularly liked the aspect of storytelling, writing a script & deciding who the "hero" (main focus) will be and how it can change the message being conveyed.
I think this would be great for a YouTuber who has a keen interest in video making and wants to improve their skills.
I also think this is a fabulous resource for entrepreneurs/ marketing teams to understand how much goes into video making so if they decide to hire a professional they will know how to ask for what they want and understand the detail required for creating great video content.
Thank you Net Galley & publisher for the digital advanced readers copy.
