Y'all, I will EAT UP any fairy tell retelling out there including this one. I went into this fully expecting it to be Sleeping Beauty retelling but you will definitely feel some elements of other fairytales thrown in as well.

I had two main problems with this book and those were pacing and character development. I kind of felt like I was getting whiplash at some points in the book when the story would be moving really slow and then all the sudden it was full speed ahead for what felt like 10 pages before calming back down. I am also 100% a character girly, less so a plot girly, which unfortunately is where this book was lacking for me. I think that the characters needed more development and/or depth. There were still moments where I felt connected to the characters or like I was seeing through their eyes, but not as much as I would like.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and leave this review! <3

Thank you net galley for providing me with an arc of He'd dark enchantments in exchange for a honest review.

I really enjoyed the world build on this one. The tale sets the perfect dark aesthetic atmosphere perferct if you're looking for a more dark taste of the classic Disney tale. The characters were a very interesting cast to read about, however the world is what sold me to the book. The details about the economy, politics and the environment around the characters transported me straight into the book.

The story of how sleeping beauty became sleeping beauty. Where did the spindle come from? The curse? How the prince could kiss her to wake her?

I really struggled with this one. I could not get into it for the life of me. The pacing was not great, But I think the character names were the worst of all for me. What kind of name is Byzarien? That’s a me problem however. Had high hopes but was let down with this one. 2.5 stars

Sleeping Beauty retellings are my absolute favorite. Maleficent is also my favorite so I thought I would jump right into this. I loved the idea, but the multiple fairy tales and pacing didn't work for me, even though I really wanted it to.

I love a Gothic fairy take retelling and this was no different. This was amazing. It is a bit of a slow burn (which is fine) so it did take me a few chapters to get completely sucked in; but once I was, I was hooked. Couldn't put it down. Was highly entertaining throughout. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Gothic fairy tale retellings.
And can I say the cover of this book is to die for!
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.

I got an advanced reader copy of this book from Netgalley. I absolutely loved this dark gothic retelling of sleeping beauty. the writer has done a fantastic job that had me hooked from the beginning. The main characters in this enemies to lovers are Myravelle who is a healer and uses ritual powers to heal the kings soldiers in his campaign somewhat based on Malificent, and Byzarien an embittered solider who hates Myravelle's kind. The book leads you down a darkened and somewhat heart wrenching path.

This is an excellent dark gothic retelling of a fairy tale. Even though it didn’t capture me until a few chapters in it was filled with atmosphere and incredible detail. I was thoroughly entertained. It was a bit of a slow burn for me as the pacing wasn’t what I expected, but I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves gothic books and retellings of fairy tales.

Absolutely love the book cover!

I want to thank NetGalley, Rosalyn Briar and Quill and Crow Publishing House, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.

Rounding up to 4 stars. Started off pretty slow for me and a bit confusing to follow. As the story went on it grabbed my attention more and I finished the book in a few hours. I loved the authors take on the backstory to this well known fairy tail. I am looking forward to see what else she writes.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

One of the best re-tellings that I have read this year. It was such a compelling story line that kept me hooked from the start until the very end. The atmosphere was dark and gothic and I soaked it up.I loved it

Look. You can basically write anything simply related to Sleeping Beauty and Maleficient and I am going to love it automatically. There are very few exceptions to this rule.

The writing kept me hooked from page one. I loved the Gothic elements to the tale. I found the world building terrific.

In a time where retellings are getting to be quite popular, I found this one to be one of the better ones.

Careful, this book has witches, curses, and a dash of romance that'll make your heart race! I adored the author's writing, I felt like it was atmospheric and haunting, and the world she's crafted is beautifully eerie. The characters, especially the strong-willed heroine, are so well-drawn that you can't help but root for them, even as they grapple with the shadows of their pasts. If you're into dark, twisty tales with a touch of the magical and a hint of romance, this book will cast a spell on you that you won't want to break.

I'm thoroughly smitten with "Her Dark Enchantments". The characters are immediately endearing, and the romance unfolds at a compelling pace. Their mutual understanding of feeling deemed 'unlovable' resonates deeply. While the magic system leans more towards the subtle, it aligns well with the fairytale essence, and the nuances introduced are utterly captivating. The world-building is spellbinding, drawing the reader in from the start, culminating in a spectacular ending.

Thanks to Quill and Crow Publishing House for an e-arc of Her Dark Enchantments.

Every villain has an origin story and this is Myravelle Spinner’s.

This book didn’t hook me right away, but once it did I was in it. This retelling of Maleficent was wonderful. Myravelle is a fairy and in service of the king, but not by choice. Part of her duties involve her waking those who have been touched by the sleeping curse which requires a canvas - a person chosen by magic - that is used to siphon from by cutting them.

Even though I guessed many things that were going to happen, I still found myself entertained and loved seeing another version of how she came to be. I felt like a few other fairy tales were woven in too.

If you like retellings, then I would highly recommend this. The one thing I wish was that the last quarter of the book felt so rushed and I wish some pivotal moments were stretched out a bit more.

Overall a good read that I think a lot of people will enjoy!

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I love a good origin story and this is one of those tales that pulls you in from the get go. I have heard the saying what makes a person a villain. It was not one to save them from that path. This novel gave me that kind of feel. It was woven with beautiful but dark words. I enjoyed the characters and the choices they made. I don't want to share to much but it is worth a read and maybe another.

This was a perfect mixture of Dark and twisted. It gave me Once upon a time vibes mixed with a maleficent type of atmosphere. It was an enjoyable read.

I am a sucker for retellings of fairy tales. This book was a great concept with great ideas but the trouble was with the execution and the pacing. Maybe I am not a fan of the writing style? It was a little slow and had a lot of repetition. Sorry! Wasn't a fan.

I really enjoyed this retelling of Sleeping Beauty from Maleficents perspective! It was interesting to see how she ended up cursing Briar Rose! It definitely made you think about how angry she was to lose the love of her life.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Have to say, this really wasn't for me. The premise was good, the ideas that the author came up with were really interesting, but the execution really wasn't great.
The writing style was really terrible and the characters were really flat. Maybe YA readers will have an easier time reading this.
