England 1804

Sarah Mortensenn is the youngest daughter to Baron Hartmore; she is abducted the day before her wedding. But Sarah is absolutely fine with these circumstances. As her black hearted finance is the last man she wanted to marry. This from the woman who was afraid of everything and everyone!

KEIR MACKINNEAR is the second son of LAIRD OF CLAN MACKINNEAR he came to England to get Sarah away from that monster she was being forced to marry. However Keir is very attracted to the shy lass who already owns his heart. Can these two have a future read and discover their fate.

Bree Wolf is a fabulous writer. I really enjoy her novels, especially this latest series.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

This second installment is a continuation of Flames of Winter's love story between Sarah and Keir. Keir is a great OTT H who trusts Sarah, allows her independence, and gives her confidence. Both have doubts about their love for each other. It's angsty, longing, and slow burn. There is a bit of action when Sarah goes to help her sister Lady Kate Birchwell. Keir goes with her and they have the entire Whickerton clan behind them.

I'd make sure to read Flames of Winter first as it features the same main characters. Be.prepared for a " to be continued."

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. I voluntarily give my honest review and all opinions are mine alone.

The second in Flames of Winter series does not disappoint. Flames of Fire will grab your attention from the first moment until the very end. This is a continuation of Sarah and Keir's story as Keir helps Sarah to visit her sister Kate. It brings the whole Wickerton family together to help Kate. Bree Wolf has written a story with well thought out characters and each one comes across clearly as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale they become embedded in your heart, it is smoothly written, wonderful dialogue, with a superb plott that is filled with tension-building twist and turns.

As always Bree Wolf does a wonderful job
She's a bit timid and fearful, however she runs away the night before she is we'd, only to be kidnapped. Now the ton has turned their back on her and said she's unmarrageabke, well this lab turns into a lion in Shield of Fire.

This is a continuation of the story started in Flames of Winter. It also ends in a cliffhanger. I strongly suggest that you read the first book. You may be a little lost while trying to understand some of the characters. You will also miss some of the dynamics of the overall story. And beware; you will be left eagerly anticipating the third book of the series, Out of Smoke and Ashes.

This is Bree Wolf, so you know the writing is well done. She has a comfortable writing style that keeps you engaged. It is also chaste, as usual, with no sex or swearing. There is in-depth character development. She's created a slow burn romance that’s strong enough to carry throughout the series. And there’s adventure enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The story reinforces the family dynamic that seems to always present in Bree wolf’s books. You, once again, have Grandma Edie directing the course of action, in a good way. You can feel the love between Sarah and her sister Kate. And, of course, there is the Wickerton clan that is always there to provide support. Finally, there is the developing romance between Keir and Sarah. You will be rooting for them and waiting for the third book to see their HEA.

There is also a couple of new, good villains to hate; The Dowager Countess and her son, Lord Birchwell. They vocally and emotionally abuse Kate. And there is the mystery of where Kate’s children are being kept. I’m not a fan of abuse in my stories and it makes me cringe on occasion.

I don’t consider this to be a standalone book. The reader will miss too much. They will be bewildered concerning some events and character development from the first book. But Shield of Fire is a strong enough book to make you want to go back and start from the beginning. But beware that this book ends in a cliffhanger.

All in all, I consider this to be winner. What can I say? Bree Wolf has a way of making it happen.

This is the second book from the Flames of Winter series, and having not read the first one, I was quite hesitant to begin with this. But I was able to follow the plot and the story pretty well, leaving me pleasantly surprised. The story revolves around Sarah Mortensen and Keir Mackinnear. Although the plot begins from where Book 1 left off, we are able to read this as a new book with ease, but beware of a cliffhanger finish at the end! The accompanying characters, Lady Kate Birchwell, Grandma Edie, and the Dowager Countess of Whickerton, all add good flavour and colour to the story. Characterization is lovely. I loved reading this book. My thanks to Wolf and her publishing house, Wolf Publishing, for gifting me with a copy of this book.

3.75/5 stars! This is the second book in the “Flames of Winter” series. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was looking forward to reading this one. This book kept the same energy and pacing as the first and getting to grow closer to Sarah and Keir was great. I did struggle with some manipulation by characters in this book that didn’t sit well with me, but otherwise it was enjoyable.

First off you do need to read book one, a continuation of cliffhanger. Secondly be patience this does not start action packed as in 1st book. The story continues of the slow budding romance of Sarah and Keir and interfering Grandma Edie is not done with them. This time Sarah is going to check on her sister, something does seem right. Of course Grandma Edie, alias matchmaker has Keir escort her. Finding the the situation at her sister is worse than she thought plans are made to save her.
The beginning was very slow and to many tears for Sarah. I almost didn't want to finish it, but I love the author and had faith. So glad once the decision was made to go visit her sister the pace picked up and looking forward to book 3.
I received a ARC from #NetGalley and all opinions are my own. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review. 3.5 stars #ShieldsofFire

This is the 2nd installment in the Flames of Winter series. Technically you can read this as a stand alone book, bit inwould suggest you at least read book 1, Flames of Winter. This is the continuation of Sarah and Keir's story and it does not disappoint. I like seeing the relationship grow between these 2 and also the adventure and fight against good vs evil! The only thing I didn't like was now I have to wait for the next book to come out lol!

I had forgotten that I had read the other ones associated with this book. So having said that, once I remembered the other book and looked back over the first one. I enjoyed this on a little more. Its not necessary to read the first book or the Whickertons but it would help you to understand the inside jokes throughout the book.
I enjoyed this bookbut it does leaving you hanging. So if your looking for a happily ever after you will have to read the next one.
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.

Shield of Fire is the second installment of this series (Flames of Winter). While you could read this as a stand alone, I would HIGHLY recommend reading them in order. Shield of Fire continues the story of Sarah Mortensen and Keir MacKinnear. In the first book, they meet and fall into feelings with one another. In this second book, they learn more about one another while saving Sarah's sister, and her children, from her abusive marriage. I am very excited for the 3rd installment of this series and would recommend them all to a friend.

Thank you to Bree Wolf, WOLF Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A good read. This is the second part of Sarah and Kerr’s adventures and I eagerly anticipate reading the third. What a time this pair have had to date, a slow building love story that will hopefully have a happy ending with all the ‘baddies’ despatched by the end of part 3.

This is the second installment of the story of Sarah Mortenson and Keir McKinnear- its a spin off from Mrs. Wolf's Whickerton series. In this installment, Sarah and Keir are rescuing her sister, Kate and her children from an unhappy life with her husband, Earl Birchwell. Sarah and Kate have lost touch over the years so she was unaware that Kate was unhappy in her marriage as she hasn't been able to provide an heir for her husband and he is only concerned with protecting his legacy. I normally don't like to read clean romances unless they are well written. Mrs. Wolfe never fails to provide a great story. I will have to go back to read the first book in the series and look forward to reading the final book in the series to get an ending for Sarah and Keir's story.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Keir and Sarah were meant to be together.
England 1804: Generally fearful of her own shadow, SARAH MORTENSEN, youngest daughter to BARON HARTMORE, did the unthinkable. After all, running off the night before her wedding, allowing herself to be kidnapped by a dashing Highlander or even spending a fortnight alone with said Highlander hiding out in the woods is considered unthinkable, at least by the ton.
Yet, Sarah did all of the above!
Along the way, though, the innocent, wide-eyed English miss, who never dared put a toe out of line, lost her heart the very moment society proclaimed her ruined beyond repair. Now, Sarah is free of her vile fiancé but also considered……unmarriageable!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley.
This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Loved it! Love this whole series. I can not wait to see what comes next in Sarah & Keir’s adventure. I wasn’t sure if I liked the idea of it not being “tied up tidy and neat” at the end but I’m glad it’s not and there is more to their story.

I just reviewed Shield of Fire by Bree Wolf. #ShieldofFire #NetGalley

Oh my gosh, this book. I already love this author and this book was amazing. It was different and entertaining and wonderful. I love the characters and the idea behind the storyline. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

This book follows the story of Keir and Sarah and what happens when they separate from each other, she coming back to London and he returning to Scotland. But things dont go as they thought, because they will have to face with other problems and situations, one of them concerning with Sarah's sister. Again Keir will be the Hero for Sarah and her sister while their love for each other growls. Will they find their happyly ever after?

I find the idea to continue the story for both MCs in this series so appealing. As in other Bree's books the story is touching swooning and has the same heat level as in the rest of her books

An engaging and emotional story, second part of a series. I like Sarah and especially Keir a swoon worthy highlander. Full of adventure and promise of love.
