Another great read from the author. Gripping and moves along at a good pace. Enjoyed the narrative from multiple viewpoints too.
Thank you Random House and Netgalley.
Another brilliant book by Shari.
This was told from multiple points of view and at times I quite like that. Lots of twists and turns and definitely kept me hooked.
More please.
This isn’t a bad book, but it really wasn’t for, i struggled to connect with the characters and the setting felt flat and one dimensional. I did however enjoy the writing, and the plot, although slow, was still interesting. The ending wasn’t too bad, but it was rather predictable.
The end of an affair. A daughter going missing. A small lie. And a suburban neighbourhood where not everyone is as the appear. Everyone Here is Lying is Shari Lapena (love her books) at her best. The tension starts on the first page and just mounts and mounts until the last page. Wonderful read.
When I pick up a Shari Lapena book I always know I am in for a good read, and Everyone Here is Lying was no exception. When a 9 year old girl goes missing, the hunt to find her uncovers a neighbourhood full of secrets. It is a book that keeps you guessing as you never quite know who to trust - told from multiple points of view, it is full of twists and proved to be another compelling read that kept me turning the pages and reminded me why I always love Lapena's books.
Shari Lapena's books is always a great read. Avery, a nine year old girl goes missing. Her parents are scared and worried about her whereabouts. But, everyone around Avery including her family are hiding some deep secrets. Lapel's writing keeps you engaged, and there are some moments when you feel you are the edge of your seat. The book is straight forward, and the suspense will keep you hooked all the way.
My rating for the book is 4 stars.
Thank you, NetGalley and Random House, for the advance copy of the book.

Welcome to Stanhope - a safe neighbourhood. A place for families.
William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he's been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly this afternoon at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter Avery unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper.
Hours later, Avery's family declares her missing.
Suddenly Stanhope doesn't feel so safe. And William isn't the only one on his street who's hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Avery's neighbours become increasingly unhinged.
Who took Avery Wooler?
Nothing will prepare you for the truth.
My Opinion
This is a great, suspenseful thriller. The title is very fitting, but what is everyone lying about? This isn't the first book I have read by Shari Lapena so I predicted that this was going to make for an enjoyable read. I liked the way that the reader knows more about what is happening in Stanhope than the characters. A fast-paced novel that will keep you on your toes.
Rating 4/5
I’m a massive fan of its authors books and this one was certainly no exception. A gripping thriller that had me hooked from the start, Loved it
Everyone Here is Lying - Shari Lapena
Such a gripping read, I always enjoy this authors books and this was no exception. Brilliant characters - even the awful ones! Keeps you guessing and you definitely don't know who to trust. I personally would have liked a more definitive ending, but this is just a personal preference, although the ending was still tense and interesting. Thanks so much Netgalley, Random House UK, Transworld Publishers and Bantam for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.
Having read and enjoyed Shari Lapena in the past, I was really keen to give her latest release a read.
There were so many twists and turns and plenty of surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
It was a definite page turner, in that sense.
I also liked the mix of characters that felt really real/flawed and the short, snappy chapters.
Sadly the resolution and ending were a bit rushed for me. I could have done with and would have loved a few more pages to truly wrap things up properly.
But it was a solid and enjoyable domestic thriller. And I can't wait to see what Shari Lapena does next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Where to start with this one?! Such a good read where you fly through the chapters and hear from loads of different pov’s. All the characters are quite unlikeable but that just fits for this book and has you hooked trying to find out what happened to young Avery.
The only little niggles I had were that a few of the leads just fell off and were never explained. The other niggle I have was with Avery but I can’t say too much without giving it away but she came across a lot older and that felt a little hard to get on board with.
Thanks to NetGalley for the this ARC.
Fast paced and full of tension this book was so twisty and I didn't know what to think or who to believe
I love Shari Lapena’s novels because nothing is ever what it seems, the suspense is always high, the pace is perfect, and the twists just keep taking you by surprise. Everyone Here Is Lying sees the small community of Stanhope shocked by the disappearance of a young girl. The lives of the upstanding and respected residents are suddenly under the microscope of the police and the media and their well-kept secrets risk to come to life. No one seemed to like Avery, but will they risk her life to keep their secrets?
As the title implies, there are lies, lies, and lies, but the question remains: who took 9-year-old Avery? Was it her father who could be the last person to have seen her right before her disappearance? Or maybe her mother, who couldn’t deal anymore with her behavioural disorder? Was it the 18-year-old neighbour who already has a drug conviction? Or the 15-year-old boy who, a few weeks earlier, had been found alone with Avery in a tree house? Or was the husband whose wife was having an affair with Avery’s father? So many suspects and so many motives, but the truth is actually much darker and more disturbing than I could expect.
I can’t say I liked any of the characters. I mostly found them irritating and annoying, but with all their faults and flaws they also felt real and I caught myself invested in their lives, and sometimes sympathizing with them. The author’s writing style is as addictive and engaging as ever and I was completely immersed in the story. Everyone Here Is Lying is gripping, thrilling, and full of unexpected and shocking surprises and with an ending that was explosive and amazing. Highly recommended!
Shari Lapena has become a must read author for me. I have read most of her previous books and was excited to see she had a new book coming out. I think this book is my favourite she has written so far. There were a couple of times I got a bit confused over who was who on the book as there were a lot of characters but quickly got a grasp on who was who. There were a lot of twists and turns in the book, I loved the big twist of who was actually responsible for Avery disappearing.
A fast paced and gripping read from Shari Lapena.
Avery is missing and everyone is lying .
Avery is nine years old but to be truthful she’s not a nice character, has she been kidnapped or run away ?
The truth behind her disappearance is one I didn’t envisage .
There are plenty of secrets on this street but someone knows the truth.
I enjoyed how the story unfolds and the ending was perfect.
Another enjoyable , suspenseful and easy to read story a must read for all Shari Lapena fans.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK.
I was really looking forward to reading this book 📚 The storyline was slow to start and didn’t really get going until about 65% was just an ok read for me.
Warning of possible spoiler.
I very much enjoyed this book with a good mix of interesting ( some flawed) characters and just enough people to provide great intrigue but easy to remember who was who. The plot was great and for the most part very believable. However (and this is the spoiler so don’t read any further if you don’t want to know) the behaviour, language, nuances and understanding of Avery who was only nine years old was not at all believable.
I will give four stars because if the author had made the child just a couple of years older it would have been for me a brilliant read.
