Another fantastic book by this author who never disappoints. I love books set around tight knit suburbs with different characters you never know who to trust or believe. It was very easy to follow even with a lot of characters and it had a good ending

Another fabulous read from Shari Lapena. William is a well respected doctor and is married to Erin. They have two children. Michael is the eldest and Avery is their nine year old daughter who suffers from ADHD and behaviour problems. Michael usually walks Avery home from school but on this particular day she had been disruptive in class and sent home early. William is having an affair with Nora, a colleague. They meet up in the afternoon at a local hotel but Nora has decided to end their relationship so William leaves for home angry and frustrated. He thought the house would be empty but Avery was there. They argued and he hit her and stormed out. Later in the evening the family realise the Avery is missing. What has happened to her? Does William know anything or do any of the neighbours as the finger points to a few of them. The consequences of some peopleโ€™s actions and the secret that are revealed make this an exciting and addictive read, I loved it.
Thanks to Netgalley and Transworld for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Shari Lapena is an auto-buy author for me, and when she releases and absolute cracker like this...its not hard to see why. I loved all of the characters - even the ones I hated I still followed intensely. The story definitely took an unexpected turn, which I really enjoyed. But now I need a bonus chapter to find out what happens to Avery!!

Everyone has a secret
Everyone is a suspect
Everyone is lying
...but someone on this street knows the truth...

Why has it taken me so long to dive into another Shari Lapena thriller again? I read her debut "The Couple Next Door" which I loved...and then what? I forgot to read her again? Well, add her to my auto-request list because she sure knows how to deliver a doozy of a twisted tale! Does anyone do family dysfunction better? And honestly, it's very difficult to hoodwink me because as a seasoned mystery thriller fan, I see all and know all...lol But with this one, I had no bleeping clue!

Stanhope, New York, is a quiet suburban neighbourhood. The perfect place for families. And Connaught Street, the quiet little street, is where it is all happening. Dr William Wooler, charming and charismatic and very good looking, is having a secret affair with neighbour Nora Blanchard who also happens to be a volunteer at the hospital he works in. Both a married with children but both are in love with the other and not their spouses. But when Nora abruptly ends their affair one day after a little afternoon delight, William doesn't feel like returning to work so decides to head home for some peace and quiet and some time to think. Only when he arrives, he finds his 9 year old daughter Avery in the kitchen attacking a packet of biscuits. Why is she home early from school when she should be at choir practice?

Avery is not an easy child. She has ADHD and behavioural problems, is oppositional, moody, manipulative and never listens or heeds the rules. At 9 years old, she isn't allowed to walk home by herself and should have waited for her brother Michael who is 12 and has his own set of keys. So why is she home? When William questions her, she is defiant in her answer and in a fit of rage he slaps her so hard she falls to the ground. Immediately regretting his action, he apologises and begs her forgiveness. But Avery just sits there staring past him and utters not a word. Shamefully embarrassed, William jumps into his car and drives away to process what just happened...on top of Nora also ending their affair.

When Michael goes to meet Avery and learns she was sent home for being disruptive just minutes into choir practice, he rushes home in the hope that his sister is ok. She isn't supposed to walk home by herself and should have waited for him to finish basketball practice but Avery dances to her own tune and frequently does as she pleases. He bursts through the door calling her name but she doesn't respond. He searches every room but the house is empty. Avery is not there. He calls his mother frantically who returns home and calls the police.

Avery is missing.

Detectives Bledsoe and Gully are tasked with investigating Avery's disappearance and are determined to find her. Leaving no stone unturned, they uncover a wealth of secrets where everyone is hiding something. But which of them knows more than they are letting on? Who witnessed Avery's disappearance? Who saw what no one else did?

And above all, what really happened to Avery?

One thing is for sure, I'm glad I don't live on Connaught Close! Everyone appears to be hiding something...and everyone has secrets. But how far would you go to keep them from bubbling to the surface? For some, it seems they will do anything.

A thoroughly entertaining and addictive thriller from start to finish, EVERYONE HERE IS LYING (a wholly apt title) is filled with unlikeable characters and underhand motives. It's short snappy chapters keep the pace moving at a rapid rate and could easily be read in one sitting. As each of the layers are slowly peeled back, theories are revealed and suspects quickly emerge. But Lapena keeps you guessing until the end. With smoke and mirrors, she misdirects readers with a deft hand, cleverly weaving the threads together for a jaw-dropping twist. Many readers felt the ending was rushed but I didn't think so. I thought it was cleverly crafted and perfectly timed bringing it to a superb conclusion.

It should be said that not all with ADHD are like Avery. That is just one of her many issues that largely attribute to her behaviour. And although she is only 9 years old, she is very self aware and her behaviour and intelligence are indicative of someone who much older than her years. This does lend a little suspension of belief to be attributed when reading. I put that down to a little poetic licence which, in this case, is needed.

Overall, a difficult book to review (because there is so much more I would love to say) but a fantastic read that I simply devoured!

Everyone here is lying.. uhh yeah they are! EVERYONE in this book had a motive, everyone had high emotions, everyone was suspicious. A gripping and twisty plot paired with super unreliable narrators made for a tense and engaging police procedural thriller, that I really enjoyed.

The tension ramps up throughout the book as the drama unfolds. Iโ€™d definitely say this was a slow-burn thriller, and the second half was a little more repetitive, but it was an intriguing and fun read nonetheless. I suspected the culprit as soon as they were introduced, and found their motive pretty meh for a Lapena book, but I loved the twisty ending: even though we knew the truth in the twist, it was a super satisfying reveal.

My favourite of hers is definitely NOT A HAPPY FAMILY ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

This is for sure a 5 star read for me - could not put it down. It was so fast paced and gripping, and the author manages so many components and characters masterfully.

My only gripe is the ending. I felt like I was still waiting on some big reveal? Even though I did enjoy the novel finishing on a tense and awkward moment; there was definitely something satisfying about that.

The first book I've read by this author and it was a great one! The story is not that difficult and you might figure some things out quite quickly, but it's a great read and lovely thriller. It came out on the 6th of July and I received a copy from Random House UK via Netgalley.

The book starts out with two people, living on the same street, having an affair. That sets the tone - the dark and secretive atmosphere which plays a role throughout the entire book. When William, the cheater, gets home he has a fight with his nine-year-old daughter culminating in him hitting her. Then he leaves again. When he returns his daughter is missing. His wife and son can't find her. That's the start of the story. From that point on the story evolves in a thrilling search for the girl. Everyone living in the same street is being questioned and everyone apparently has secrets. How well do you know your neighbours?

It started out great and exciting and that pace was there for almost the entire book. It's fast paced and as a reader you are kept wondering a lot. That's also what makes this a great book. The characters all have secrets and that really fun to read about. It makes the story that much more interesting for me. The ending was, eventually, quite obvious but it didn't take away from the rest of the book.

Everyone Here is Lying is a fantastic domestic thriller and one which I read in one sitting. I loved absolutely everything about this book. A read full of secrets and lies and great characters, none of whom you should trust. As soon as I started reading this book I was sucked right in and couldnโ€™t turn the pages fast enough to find out who the guilty person was. With short snappy chapters this is an absolute page turner and one which I strongly recommend. My only small gripe was I felt the ending was quite abrupt but it was definitely an OMG ending . 4โญ๏ธ

Everyone Here is Lying is a great story by the fantastic Shari Lapena. As the title states there are plenty of lies along with twists and turns galore. It was a totally unputdownable read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

Thank you to the publisher and the tour organiser for inviting me to be part of this tour
Shari Lapena is an auto buy author and Iโ€™ve loved all of her books, so it was a privelege to be invited to read a copy of her latest book, early
The book was a great read.
It is centred around missing Avery
Avery arrives home from school early one day and she finds her dad, William, at home. A small argument breaks out and William raises his hand to Avery.
Thatโ€™s the last time he sees Avery. Where is she? And whoโ€™s taken her?

The book was told from different viewpoints which is a particular favourite of mine. The author pulls the reader in and it is a great book
I did guess the ending and was slightly disappointed how early on I guessed it, but I guess if you read a lot of thrillers, you become an expert at this (๐Ÿ˜‰)
Overall, a great domestic thriller, which is highly recommended
The book is out today

A quiet suburban community is rocked at the disappearance of the youngest of the Wooler family. Daughter of respected doctor William, Avery is known for being a difficult child, but nobody knows what happened to her, or seemed to see anything, making Detectives Gully and Bledsoe's job harder than ever.

The book title say it all, how can you solve a case when everyone is lying? Filled with unlikeable and untrustworthy characters whose motives are questionable at best. My only gripe is certain actions seemed to be a little unrealistic for some of the ages of the characters in the book, but overall an entertaining read.

Shari Lapena can do no wrong. Excellent writing, fascinating characters, brilliant plotting and stunning revelations. I loved it!

Absolutely loved this! Couldn't put it down. You will not see the end coming in this one. Twists and turn at every corner. Literally everyone is lying or hiding some sort of secret. Cannot recommend enough!

Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this thriller. The kind of story where youโ€™re never quite sure whoโ€™s covering up what, or how what we learn will impact the story.
Our main focus is the Wooler family. William has been having an affair and on the day it is ended he goes home early to find his daughter home unexpectedly. She goads him, and he slaps her before leaving the house. By the time he returns, his nine year old daughter has disappeared.
Attention quickly turns to the other residents of their street and who might have a link to the crime. We unearth the details of the various relationships, never quite sure who might be intent on causing trouble.
By the time we get to the end of the story it came as a relief to have some elements resolved. Unfortunately thereโ€™s a lot left unopened and this was rather frustrating as a reader.

I really enjoy Shari Lapena's books - but the last couple of books have missed the mark for me.
This book was a super quick read, and really built up the tension. I loved Lapena's writing, but the plot was super simple and I would have liked more twists and turns.
I enjoyed reading this book, but it has really baffled me as to how to review.

3.5 stars rounded up.

William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he's been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter, Avery, unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper. Hours later, Avery's family declare her missing. Suddenly Stanhope doesn't feel so safe. And William isn't the only one on the street hiding a lie.

Everyone's a suspect and they all have secrets. This is one twisted thriller that kept me guessing and wondering who was telling the truth. It's also more plot focused than character driven. The suspense built throughout. I was quickly turning the pages to find out what was going on. There were some truly unlikable characters. I was constantly telling myself "Just one more chapter," but I couldn't put this book down. I did think there was a lot of loose ends left hanging and the ending felt a bit rushed. I took half a star off for those reasons.

Oh this one was so good! I absolutely love Shari's books and each one seems better than the last!

The story begins with William Wooler, a supposedly devoted family man, who one day makes a grave mistake that will change the course of his life. His young daughter Avery is found to be missing from their quiet, suburban street and suddenly everyone appears to have something to hide.

This book instantly sucked me into the story and I couldn't put it down. The plot is tightly, expertly woven and the pace never lets up. The characters are as believeable, as some of them are shocking and the unrelenting unease and tension continue throughout until the very last page.

Shari Lapena is the queen of the twisted suburban family drama and this one is definitely not to be missed!

Thanks to Shari Lapena, publishers Random House UK and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Unlikeable characters abound in this book, but I wanted to know what had happened to Avery, so kept reading. I wanted more at the end of the book though; what happened to the families involved? I really empathised with Averyโ€™s mother, her grief, bewilderment and rage were so well written.

When you want a great who-dunnit mystery then Shari is the way to go! I loved this story. It wasn't trying to be edgy or different. It was a great read with multiple perspectives that I absolutely flew through. It was a great time and absolutely loved how the story unfolded.

I was captivated throughout. Even though most characters were unlikeable.
I think Avery should have been a teenager and not nine. Just because how she spoke and behaved didn't seem realistic for a nine year old. Even one like her.
While her father was horrible. The way he cared more about Nora than his daughter. But also how he sees what possibly happened to Avery as just baggage getting in the way of him and Nora.

The pacing was fast. We were constantly being given new information and for a while new characters to try follow. Some being just red herrings.

I enjoyed that the second half of the book was more of the POV of Avery and Marion. Seeing two people trying to plot while thinking the other wouldn't see it coming.
