The fourth book in the Colter Shaw series. It was a little slow to start but then was totally gripping! A massive twist near the end that I didn’t see coming !!

This is the 4th book in the Author's Colter Shaw series and can in my opinion be read as a standalone. Colter Shaw has been hired to find engineer, Alison Parker and her daughter Hannah ....... who have gone on the run upon the release from prison, of her violent and abusive ex-husband . Even when Colter thinks he has solved the case a major reveal near the end throws everything into disarray This is a fast paced thriller, full of danger and twists and turns , with the occasional red herring thrown in to confuse issues ......... a highly entertaining read . I look forward to reading more books in this series in the future . I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I have enjoyed a number of Jeffrey Deaver books in the past but found this one really difficult to get into. I found myself uninterested in the characters and plot and struggled to finish.

For some reason I just couldn't connect with this book or its characters which is odd as used to really enjoy reading books by Jeffery Deaver. I found the plot uninteresting and dull. It took me 5 weeks to read this which says a lot

Colter Shaw is back and I definitely recommend this series, they don't even need to be read in sequence as Shaw is a lone wolf so not too much to figure on background in order to enjoy the current book.
The idea of this lone wolf working as a 'reward seeker' means he is always moving and has many skills to meet the needs of his search. After 4 books I still feel like I need to know more about our main character to be completely won over but I enjoy the series and the individual 'cases' Deaver has put forward.

I received this book for free as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have always wanted to read a book by Jeffery Deaver and what better time than now. And I am glad I did and will be looking at reading more books fro this author in the future.

THERE ARE TWO FUNDAMENTAL RULES OF SURVIVAL.
#1: NEVER BE WITHOUT A MEANS OF ESCAPE.
#2: NEVER BE WITHOUT ACCESS TO A WEAPON.
SHAW IS ABOUT TO DISCOVER RULE #3:
NEVER BELIEVE ANYTHING.

Now if that doesn't get you going and make you want to read this book I don't know what will. This is an intense, exciting, emotional, thrilling read and I just couldn't put it down. It is a story that starts to build from the first page, has all the twists and turns you want from a thrilling mystery and the characters are interesting and the book is very entertaining.

Having never read any of the other books in this series I don't feel I missed out too much but do want to go back and see where it all begin now.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Alison is a well respected scientist and her boss wants her found and protected from Alison’s violent ex husband who’s just been released from jail.
There are so many twists and turns this book will keep you second guessing yourself.
Well worth the read.

Another nail biter of a story from the master that is Jeffery Deaver.

Full of twists, I always enjoy any book by Jeffery Deaver. The research that is done into the subject of the book always adds to my arsenal of knowledge - in the case of this book, I learned all about nuclear power and pocket suns. Very interesting!

Colter is a character who is growing on me, and I find myself looking forward to his next adventure.

I’ve read a few of the acclaimed author’s books and couldn’t pass the opportunity to read this new addition in his Colter Shaw series. While this is book number four in the series, I think it can be read as a stand-alone even if throughout the story you will want to know how Colter has learned from his father all the surviving into the wildness methods.
I loved this story. It’s nothing like I thought it would be. It holds so many tension and twisted moments that my head was spinning and I’m always looking forward to these type of books. The adrenaline rush is nonstop in this hide and seek chase and the mix cast of characters definitely added so much more intriguing layers to the overall view.
Alison and her daughter is on the run from her newly prison release ex husband and Colter is there to help them. Add in some extra paid gunmen to chase their tails along with all the crazy stuff that happened when they can’t even trust the police people who should protect the prefer to help one of their own, I was all set up for a never ending ride.
Full of suspenseful moments, intriguing characters and unexpected twists , this is definitely an unmissable thriller.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley

I am enjoying Deaver’s Colter Shaw series. It is straightforward thriller material with a fascinating protagonist in this son of a survivalist, brought up to regard everything and everyone with suspicion and to prepare for absolutely any eventuality.

Shaw works as a hunter for hire of missing people. Those desperate people who have lost a loved one and advertise a reward for information leading to recovery are his bread and butter, though Colter Shaw doesn’t just provide the information, he goes and gets them, irrespective of the danger.

He is peripatetic; living in a Winnebago to the back of which his motorbike is attached.

In this 4th episode, Shaw is in the mid-west, in a town called Ferrington. Ferrington is an old industrial town in decline and suffering from a toxic riverbed. Shaw has been hired by a progressive nuclear energy company whose CEO, Marty Harmon is helping the town by supplying clean water and bringing jobs. His company, Welbourne and Sons has developed a revolutionary new device that could be life saving for many third world countries, but the technology has been stolen and Shaw is hired to recover it.

Shaw is barely on the case before the company’s engineer and architect of the reactor, Alison Parker, goes missing. Shaw is tasked by Harmon to find her and safely bring her and her daughter, Hannah, home. Alison is running from her husband, an abuser who has just been released from prison after serving time for wife beating. But Merrit is no ordinary abuser; he is an ex-cop with many friends still in the force and his tentacles reach far.

Colter Shaw works with Welbourne’s capable Head of Security, Sonja Nilsson to find Alison and Hannah. Their search takes them into prime Shaw territory; lost in the midst of a large forest where it is not only Jon Merrit who is on their trail but also two malevolent killers are working in concert to hunt down Alison and her daughter and kill them.

Hunting Time is a gripping and hugely enjoyable novel. There’s something really engaging about Shaw’s survivalist skills and his endless rules of survival that always come in handy whatever the situation. This is a protagonist who has heft and that lends the usual crime thriller an extra dimension and the many twists and misdirection add hugely to the enjoyment.

Verdict: Hunting Time is a thrilling twisty enjoyable addition to the Colter Shaw series. It is a fast moving, tense and action packed read with plenty to get your teeth into and some surprisingly tender moments.

When a new jeffrey deaver book becomes available then you really just have to abandon everything else and get stuck in don't you?!

Where to start..... if you've heard of the author then you'll know what to expect. It's thriller writing at the highest level along with the most captivating and fascinating storytelling you could ever find.

The book keeps up a good pace, there are so many new twists and turns throughout. The characters are all brought to life with such clarity and conviction about who these people are that it's impossible not to get invested. The relationships, the unique personalities and the very human reactions all just make this book so much more than just a thriller!

These are never quick, easy reads because they're so engrossing, complex and cleverly written but they are just so incredibly all consuming that youll still just fly through it and feel like no time at all. Reading Deaver is experiencing the highest calibre of writing and I loved every second. Of course I'd recommend to everyone and their dog

Hunting time was a joy to read. Absolutely fantastic! This book tied me in knots. I started out thinking one way, then another, back to the first and then the end, and by then my head was spinning. What a twisty story. Loved it, would highly highly recommend. The highlight of the book has to be the brilliant storytelling – it was unbelievably unsettling and unputdownable at once. Even though it was intensely dark and terrifying, I basically inhaled this book in less than two days, and was amazed at the plethora of emotions it generated in me. Till the very end of the book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
