A captivating read that transports readers to a remote island in Myanmar (Burma) in the 1980s. Based on the author's true story, the book offers a glimpse into a life without modern conveniences or electricity. The book's illustrations help bring the island to life, giving readers a visual of what life was like for the author. Fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books will appreciate this charming and heartwarming memoir that celebrates the joys of a simpler way of life.
A Little Boy on Ramree Island by Aung Z. and Jill Brock Mong is for any reader who loved Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books. I also love learning about Burma, so this was the “icing on the cake” for me. While the picture on the cover may look like a children’s book, it is geared towards teens and YA. It is a day to day story, introducing heartfelt, homey life lessons. No cell phones here…readers are truly transported to life with no modern conveniences. From catching fevers, to Grandmothers, to the Village, monsoons and much more, I highly recommend you take this journey. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily gave my honest review. #ALittleBoyonRamreeIsland #NetGalley
