When Katie Collins and Callum Dempsey met, it wasnβt under the best circumstances. Glenmill, a company that Callum worked for, was planning to knock down Kellyβs Pub, which is where Katie worked, and she loved the Pub. But Katie had an idea - bring back the Matchmaker festival, which could potentially save the pub.
I loved how hard Katie worked to save her beloved town from being completely run over by Glenmill. And Callum actually fell hard and fast for Katie, pretty much from their first meeting. He was so sweet and swoony.
This was such a cute romcom set in Ireland. There was only slight drama, and it had a great storyline.
A cute little love story about a small Irish town. It gave all the hallmark vibes. A corporation is trying to buy most of a small town but Kate Collins cannot allow that to happen.. she meets Callum along the way and sparks fly after she gets over being angry at him..
I honestly love all of Catherine's books. They're cosy, they make me home sick, I love the Irish humour and I love a good trashy romance!!!
Katie and Callum is like a classic love hate situation as he wants to knock down half of her quaint town and she wants to keep her home. And of course the tension between them is delicious!!! Keep writing more books please

I have read a few books from Catherine Walsh and I'm a big fan of her work! I was so excited to see this new arrival from Catherine and I'm really thankful to have a chance to read this story. I think this was such a heartfelt read that went a little beyond other romance novels that I've read in terms of character development and emotions. I really enjoyed it! Thank you for a chance to read this story!
Full of charm, wit, whimsy and heart, it is impossible not be enchanted by Catherine Walshβs latest Irish romantic comedy, The Matchmaker.
Katie Collins love her life in the small town of Ennisbawn. With its friendly community, lovely local pub and majestic natural beauty, itβs no wonder Katie has barely ever left her hometown. She loves the peace and serenity of Ennisbawn β until Callum Dempsey comes charging in with shocking plans to build a hotel and knock down the pub! Katie is naturally not going to stand for this. How dare Callum destroy the heart of the village that means everything to her! She is not going to let him steamroll all over her and the community of Ennisbawn, so she decides to take drastic action and bring back the townβs infamous match-making festival.
Katieβs beloved parents had met during the festival many years ago and with the pub one of the few remaining links she has to them, she vows to fight tooth and nail to keep the developers from coming anywhere near Ennisbawn. As preparations for the festival begin to take place, Katie wonders whether two of her best friends might end up finding their soulmate. However, could Cupidβs arrow also strike Katieβ¦and Callum?
The two of them might be polar opposites, however, as fate pushes the two of them together, they quickly realise that they might have more in common than they initially thoughtβ¦
Laugh-loud funny, irresistible and wonderfully romantic, Catherine Walshβs The Matchmaker has got winner written all over it. A gorgeous enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that had me chortling with laughter on almost every page, Catherine Walshβs The Matchmaker is a terrific read about lifeβs unexpected surprises, the power of friendship and falling in love when you least expect it that is so addictive and enjoyable, putting it down is simply not an option.
This book was hilarious and I couldn't put it down! I will definitely be reading more of Catherine Walsh in the future!
I absolutely adore Catherine Walsh. Her Christmas novels are some of my all time favorites, so I knew I had to pounce on this. Catherine writes the perfect romcom thatβs full of humor and heart, and I highly recommend this for a fast, fun read.
Unfortunately I have tried to read and review this novel multiple times. I keep getting to about 15-20% and just want to put it down. I donβt feel appropriate rating due to not getting far enough in to form an opinion. I just donβt think itβs for me! My apologies!
After reading my first Catherine Walsh book a few years ago, I was hooked by her fun and flirty writing and this one though it doesn't reach the heady heights of that first book is still such a cheery, fun and enjoyable read - perfect for settling in for a cosy night in, it will leave you smiling - it's just so cute!!
I liked the journey the characters go on and watching them develop over the course of the story, I love enemies to lovers (that is my all-time favourite trope) and this one is fun and very entertaining!
A great read and highly recommended!
Set in a remote Irish Village, we meet Katie that works in and loves the local pub. When hot shot Callum turns up chatting all things redevelopment and a potential threat on the pub closing. Katie is dragged in to setting up a βrenownedβ village festival to prove their worth to the developers.
A great book about tiny village life and the close bonds that gives. The romance storyline between our too main character is the icing on the cake.
Loved Katie and Callum!
Quick Fall romance full of laughs and sweet moments!
I really enjoyed the premise and had a blast reading these fun characters build their relationship!
Katie was adorable, relatabl and hilarious! Great read!
I love Catherine Walshβs books. This one, though, was one of my least favorites. I would give it 3.5/5 stars. It was a cute and easy read but it fell a little short for me.
Big thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and Catherine Walsh for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love Catherine Walsh books! Such cute characters and a really fun read. Definitely recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and Catherine Walsh!
Iβm a sucker for quaint small towns, so the setting and overall premise of this story was super cute and definitely brimming with potential. The main character, Katie, was quirky and cute but also driven and devoted to those she loves. Early on, I thought the romance was going to have just the right simmer (gotta love that slow burn). It ended up flopping a bit more than Iβd hoped, but it was still a sweet little story. 3.5βοΈ
This review is being posted after publication. Thank you tovNetGalley for a copy of this arc!
Thank you #Netgalley
Fun rom com type of read following a long time young local, Katie, who is upset with the changes occurring to her small town. A large corporation is building a resort and slowly interrupting the town and taking over more and more. Katie is reactive and combative to this corporation and fights them on many things. But when they come to the pub she works at to buy it, she loses it! She crafts the idea to reinvigorate a town matchmaking event. During this time she ends up connecting with one of the construction workers and unites the town with the same goal of keeping the pub.
Received ARC through netgalley. A bit slow of a start, but it was a nice romcom! The main characters had good chemistry.
I really liked the setting of the book and found the descriptions of the town and all the lore (like the wishing well) quite charming. Where it fell flat was the chemistry between the two main characters. Despite a rather rough beginning, the male protagonist, Callum, is unexplainingly head over heels for our female protagonist, Katie. It didn't feel like there was much depth or explanation to their relationship which made the story fall a little flat for me. Overall enjoyable read though.
Overall, this was a cute read. I love that it's set in a tiny Irish town and I love the concept of them reviving an old tradition to save the pub. The romance was cute and endering and love. The matchmaking festival. However, the big conflict between the hotel and the town was resolved by the midway point in the book and everything after just came across as filler and really messed with the pacing of the story
That, along with some grammatical errors is why I only gave this one 3 stars.
In The Matchmaker by Catherine Walsh, love takes centre stage in this delightful romantic comedy. The story follows the endearing and quirky matchmaker, Emma, as she navigates the tumultuous world of love and relationships. Walsh's writing is a breath of fresh air, blending humour and heart in a way that keeps you smiling throughout. Her ability to write witty banter is second to none! With its lovable characters and charming plot twists, The Matchmaker is a feel-good read that will warm your heart and leave you believing in the magic of love. Perfect for anyone in need of a pick-me-up or a charming escape into the world of romance.
