A slightly slow start and then it really picks up and becomes incredibly gripping. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

The Price revolves around a couple, George and Clara, whose daughter Tabatha has been diagnosed with cancer and needs extensive- and expensive- treatment to survive. George throws himself into work both to earn money and to escape the stressful situation at home. Clara creates a crowd funding account and does everything she can to promote it and raise awareness of her little girl's needs.
But then things get complicated when George's investigation at work becomes compromised. What is happening and will anyone in this story get what they need or deserve?

This book has all the twists and turns you would expect from Darren O'Sullivan and I really enjoyed it!

A crime thriller / family drama with a moral dilemma. How far would you go to save the one you love? That's what police officers Clara and George must face when their young daughter is diagnosed with cancer and they need to raise money to pay for her treatment in the US. An emotional rollercoaster of a read.

This book reminded me a lot of a book written by Jodi Picoult that I read a few years ago. You know what is the right thing to do, but how far will you go, what is the price you will pay, to save a loved one. It was a very good read, and I can't wait to read more by Mr Sullivan. Really one of my new favorite authors now.

The most heartbreakingly real fiction that will stay with me long after the last page. It's about the lengths that parents will go to save their child. I read this book with eyes brimming with tears.

I really liked this one. I couldnt put it down. It has multiple POV's. Loved the short chapters. I connected to the characters. I will definately be reading more from this author.

A good thriller and worth a read, but it did take until I was half way through the book before I really started to enjoy it and the pace picked up.

An interesting exploration of how far a parent would go, morally, ethically and legally, to save the life of their sick child. Often difficult to read, it is a powerful and compelling thriller which gets the reader questioning what they would do in similar circumstances.

Darren O’Sullivan has written another fabulous thriller to add to the collection. I devoured this book and read it in 24 hrs. It is different to Darren’s other books due to the police procedural element but I feel the author did a really good job of portraying this through the storyline. I love police procedural series so would be really pleased to see a series come from those characters.

The characters were brilliantly written and I loved the storyline which surrounded the sensitive topic of childhood cancer. I’m not an emotional reader but this really caught my feelings with the families plight and the desperation and need to help their very sick child Tabatha.

Fabulous read which gives a twist to a normal thriller with the addition of a police procedural narrative.

Tabitha, 6 months old, has life-threatening cancer - every parent's nightmare! George is in denial and throws himself into his work trying to trap a local big-time villain while Clara will do anything to save the life of her child.
Clara sets up a page to raise funds for them to take Tabitha for life-changing treatment in the USA - a huge sum of money is needed and the money rolls in from well-wishers, but not fast enough to beat the time constraints. Clare will do anything to give her daughter this opportunity ....
A page turner, yes ... a little beyond the realms of believability definitely. Definitely pulls at the heart strings.

Loved this!! Another fast paced twisty thriller from the author and what epic twists!

I felt so sorry for George and Clara and completely understood their actions, showing they would do anything for thier child!

I loved how my suspicions panned out and the level of deceit of pretty much every character.

I couldn’t recommend this more!

I found this book easy to read and got through it fairly quickly. The concept is awful and really makes you think about what you would be willing to do in such a situation.

The twist was ok, but I felt some what predictable. I liked the ending as it is realistic and I was really hoping an unrealistic ending wouldn't ruin the story.

A very enjoyable book, the story involves a couple with a young baby who is suffering from a form of brain cancer who is being treated by the NHS. The treatment is not working and the baby is running out of time. There is a new treatment being trialled in America but it is very expensive. How do the couple, George and Clara and Clara’s mother raise the money necessary to save their baby. Very well written, maintaining the suspense to the end of the book. Recommended.

Henry Mansel is a career criminal with lots of businesses and who ensures that those who cross him get their just rewards.
Clara and George are both ploice officers, Clara is currently on maternity leave. Their daughter has brain cancer. There is a treatment in the US , but that costs more than 200000 pounds. Clara is determined to raise the money by fair means or foul . Not easy when your husband is currently investigating the criminal that she has contact with.
Not a bad read, some decisions were perhaps questionable and I would have liked more information about some of the side stories (Sophie and her mother). In places fairly suspenseful , in others perhaps overstretching the bounds of reality.

Another wonderful story from Darren O’Sullivan who has weaved his magic to write about such an emotive subject of a baby with cancer and what lengths a parent will go to, to save their child.

Clara and George are the parents to Tabatha who is very poorly indeed. George is in the police and seems to mask his feelings by throwing himself into his work leaving his wife Clara to deal with their sick daughter. They need money to send Tabatha to the United States for treatment that could just save her life but Clara is concerned that crowd funding may not quite be enough and so takes drastic steps to help build the fund.

The story winds this way and that having the reader totally behind the parents one minute and then gobsmacked the next at what they are willing to risk for their daughter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have done all of the author’s others, and Darren really has done a great job of building suspense with a story that has such emotional content. Highly recommended.

Clara throws herself into the world of fundraising and raising awareness of Tabatha’s condition on the social media platforms and the local community.

Meanwhile, her husband George is working on a hard case. He’s trying to bring down a local drug baron, Henry Mantel, who always managed to avoid justice.

Someone is targeting Mantel’s ‘legitimate’ businesses… Mantel turns to Clara. Surely, she won’t help?

I really enjoyed this tense crime thriller. I was gripped from the very first page all the way to the end. I was literally glued to my seat, I had to discover what came next.

I sympathised with Clara and George. I can’t even begin to fathom what’s it’s like to have a child with cancer; a child so sick that they might die. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I were in their shoes (but I can imagine that I’d move heaven and earth!).

This was such a great read for me. I definitely recommend this book.

Worth every penny…

Are you looking for an emotional roller coaster?? Well if you are, hop on in! O’Sullivan is exceptional at marrying empathetic characters while writing a compulsive plot.

The first third of this novel is a crime/family drama. We are introduced to Clara and George, both DIs in the U.K. but Clara is currently on mat leave looking after their young daughter Tabatha. Tabatha is battling cancer and the parents are doing everything in their power to find the right combo of drugs to help her.

George is busy investigating Henry Mantel, who he suspects is running a drug syndicate. Clara discovers that there is a life saving drug in the U.S., but the trial cost $230,000! She starts a Go Fund me account to raise money, but it isn’t enough.

Clara girl …. Let’s just say I underestimated you! The tagline for this book is “How far would you go to save the one you love?” Well this mummy runs a marathon. I definitely fell for one of the large twists in the middle of the book.

The back third of the novel will have you flipping through the pages to find out if they nail Mantel, do they raise the money and what happens to sick Tabs.

My only note was that I wanted to get to the main drama a little faster. It takes a bit to get set up then it becomes gripping.
