Ok, I may be biased as I just loved the way this book made me feel like I was sipping cocktails at the pool in Tenerife with Lucy while indulging myself in papas arrugadas. No, but honestly I could feel the mojo on my taste buds while reading this so I'm gonna go with the 5 stars.
Lucy goes to Tenerife and I like how it took a little bit before we knew why. It's no super long but it got my attention asap. When she meets Elena at the pool there are sparks and I thought it was very bold of Lucy to go to the bar.
The summer fling turns into something else when Elena and her family find themself in need of a lawyer. The family dynamics were great and I enjoyed them. My only pet peeve is that they all know and speak English and it would have been cool if there was a bit more Spanish in the book. But again I am biased because I know a bit of Spanish myself so I totally get this is a me thing.
If you are missing summer and are dreaming of a vacation fling without actually having to go on vacation this is the book for you! It's extra fun if you drink a cocktail while reading this.

I have nothing but good things to say about this book. It was just what I was looking for at the time it came out. Great characters- Lucy and Elena. A great setting- Tenerife. I'd heard of the Canary Islands before but never this exact location. Loyal best friends- Carla and Marcos and Elena's family added a lot of flavoring to the story. Engaging romance and awesome love-making scenes all add up to a very enjoyable novel that I will reread at some point in the future. Definitely recommend and I give it 4 ½ stars.
Lucy needs an escape from her lawyer life. So, she books a vacation at Sol Plaza. This is where she meets lifeguard (and daughter of Sol Plaza's owner), Elena. There is instant attraction between the two. They do not want a complicated relationship, but when Elena's father is falsely accused of a crime, everything becomes complicated.
A great read filled with love and mystery.
I would recommend.

This was an enjoyable and light summer read. The chemistry between the main characters was palpable from the start and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow from a summer fling to something more, alongside the characters themselves. The supporting characters like Elena’s family and friends were also likeable. The big mystery in the latter half was a little predictable but helped move the romantic storyline along. Overall it was a well written and engaging book.
This was a light, quick read.
It was pleasant enough, with some sex scenes that are pretty solidly written.
There's nothing "stand out" about this story. The plot is predictable and the chemistry is written pretty averagely. It may not be a favorite, but it will do in a pinch.
This was a fun read. It really helped me get out of my reading slump.
A good pick me up which had me eager to read more from this author.
This book about a summer fling between burned out Lucy and easy-going Elena is perfect as a vacation read. Nothing too complicated, characters that are easy to like and root for. A little bit of drama thrown into the otherwise vacation vibe throughout the book. If you are going away to enjoy the sun lazing around a pool or beach this is the perfect book to bring along.

This is an age-gap holiday / summer fling romance. Lucy Holloway is a lawyer from New York, who is taking a break, and running away from a break-up. She escaped to Tenerife, and there she meets Elena Garcia, a physical therapy student, working as a lifeguard during her university break at the hotel her father manages. The two got together early on with no strings attached. However, feelings usually have a mind of their own..and it seems to be tugging at both of them. Thrown in the mix was also a little mystery.
I liked both main characters. They are nice women. Both came from different lives and background. They seem very attracted to one another. But as time goes, there was pining and longing due to them not wanting to express their feelings. The secondary characters also added to the story. Really like the best friends, Carla and Marcos. As well as Elena’s parents. The little mystery thrown in the middle was not big or truly exciting, but it did allow for us to get to know Elena’s family a little more. I also enjoyed the setting where this story takes place. An island resort.. really gives a relaxing feel to it. The author described the area and local cuisines vividly and this had me googling on the internet to find out more.
For those who enjoy low angst romance… this book is definitely one of those. A very easy, pleasant read. This was a 3.5 star read for me.

So far, I'm having great luck with my arcs, now, let me touch wood and not jinx it.
In Too Deep is a holiday romance set in Tenerife, focusing on Lucy, a lawyer on a sabbatical and Elena a lifeguard at the hotel Lucy's staying at. The book is about giving in to experiences without worrying too much about the future and just trying to enjoy the present and the people you're around.
If it's one thing you should know about me its that I love Spain, so I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, I read quite a few mixed reviews which made me cautious but thankfully this book did not disappoint. Definitely less angsty compared to Sommers' Chemistry but it works for a holiday romance.
I just want to say, don't be put off by my 3 stars because I enjoyed a lot about this book. Sommers did a great job of describing Tenerife, having not visited the place it was quite enjoyable trying to picture the setting and the environment around Elena and Lucy. The book also moved at a good pace and that made the romance believable. More so, I love the impact and importance every secondary character had in this book, from Marcos to Felipe to Elena's family. This really is a well rounded book by Sommers.
So if you're craving a holiday in sunny Spain 🌞 🇪🇸, try this and it's also perfect for a weekend read.
Lucy's high-powered professional life keeps her busy but when a scandal forces her to take time off, she escapes to majestic Tenerife, Canary Islands to recoup. There she meets grad student, Elena Garcia. The two are immediately drawn to one another and tumble quickly into bed. What starts off as a summer fling quickly turns to more as the two grow closer.
I loved exploring beautiful Tenerife as it's a place I've never been to but always wanted to visit. The romance between Lucy and Elena is really sweet, steamy, and has low angst. The added complication of Elena's father being fired from his job of 40 years helps to add a bit of drama to this simple story. This is a perfect vacation read as it's straightforward with really likable main characters who are perfect for one another.

Lucy takes a vacation to cool off after a scandal at work even though in my opinion it’s wasn’t her fault. She arrives at lovely resort in Tenerife where she meets Elena who returning for summer as a lifeguard while she studying to be
physical therapy in the US her father is lifelong manager of the resort. Lucy and Elena catches each other eyes decides to have fling as they grow closer Elena father gets accused of something going on at the resort and Lucy is there to help. This is was a light cute romance with low on angst which was really wether Lucy and Elena wants something more then a fling. I like the secondary characters that was supportive.
3.75 stars
This was a fun light vacation romance with a mystery wound into the middle of it. Sommers did a great job of creating enjoyable and believable main characters with some excellent side characters as well.
Lucy is fleeing from a broken heart (and a bit of a scandal) that enveloped her in NY and winds up at a lovely resort in Tenerife (Canary Islands) to cool off for a bit. Elena is the daughter of the long-term manager of said resort and is back home for the summer, working as a lifeguard at the resort. Both women are not looking for anything serious and start a no strings situation, but feelings start to develop. Things are progressing in a pretty normal way when Elena’s dad gets accused of cooking the books at the resort and is summarily fired. Lucky that Lucy is a finance lawyer and can step in to play forensic accountant - with the help of Elena, they solve that mystery and then the relationship status is the only outstanding question.
The chemistry between the main characters was believable. One thing that I had a bit of a hard time with was that Lucy didn’t seem truly brokenhearted, even though it was clear that she was meant to be. You don’t learn what happened until a bit into the book, so I won’t spoil it, but the duration of the previous relationship and the time between the old and new relationships didn’t map out in a way that made sense to me.

Finance lawyer, Lucy Holloway, needs to get away from New York City, the law firm where she works, and a relationship gone wrong. She puts her finger on a map and buys a ticket to Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
Elena Garcia is home for the holidays on a break from her physical therapy studies in the U.S. She works as a lifeguard at the hotel that her father manages while home on breaks. While working at the pool, Elena spots Lucy. They begin to spend some time together and eventually spark a holiday fling.
The book also involves a mystery when Elena’s father is fired after forty years of managing the hotel. Lucy investigates and helps to solve the mystery and find the correct person who embezzled money.
The story sizzles with an age gap romance (Lucy,40, and Elena, 28). The setting is also magical with the vacation theme, the island, the volcano, and the stars. 4 stars

NYC lawyer Lucy flees her home, when her relationship explodes in front of her colleagues, all the way to the Canary Islands.
Tenerife native and Washiongton student Elena is home for the summer, picking her hotel lifeguard job right where she left it last summer.
Elena is brazen and accustomed to summer fllings and Lucy is reserved and heartbroken. They do decide to follow up on their chemistry and give into a summer fling. After all, Lucy is leaving soon.
There’s some mystery involving Elena’s dad but that was somewhat predictable. All in all a decent read, a good companion for your next beach holiday.

I really enjoyed this book! Elena is retired pro athlete now college student visiting home on summer break where she lifeguards at the hotel her dad is the manager. Lucy is a lawyer from New York on sabbatical staying in the hotel Elena works.
For the most part, the story is very low angst minus a little hiccups with Elena’s fathers job but don’t fret, Lucy the badass lawyer she is, helps.
Jeez, I wish I had a Lucy for myself maybe a little younger since she’d probably view me as a child which I don’t blame. And I love both of the MCs best friends and wish them for myself also.
Overall I recommend reading this book if you want a cute simple book. The characters are lovely and will wish you were dating a lawyer (at least I am lol)
Lucy and Elena meet while Lucy is on holiday and Elena is working as a summer poolside lifeguard. A good story showing the growing relationship between Lucy and Elena. Plus an added wee bit of mystery requiring Lucy’s lawyer expertise. I quite enjoyed this book.
When lawyer Lucy needs to escape from her life following a crisis she flies across the world to Spain and finds herself on the small island of Tenerife. At her hotel Lucy catches the eye of young Elena a lifeguard at the hotel and studying physical therapist. It’s the perfect sexy holiday fling… right?
Ooft! Steamy sexy lesbian holiday romance with an age gap relationship! Okay! 😍😍😍 I devoured this one in no time! Short, sweet and just the right amount of light spice - this is the perfect holiday read!
