The two character that are great in this story, meet in the Hamptons. There story is of romance with bad joes, also love and laughter. Giving this 4 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
This was an absolute stunner of a story following Honor and Ceffan involving love, misunderstandings and relationships but what I most enjoyed was the humour threading it's way through the entire story, it was so well written and happened almost organically, thank you
I am really starting to love this genre of books, normally an avid reader of thrillers/mysteries this genre feels light and refreshing.
This is my firsts novel by Isabelle Broom and I will be picking up more of her previous novels.
The Beach Holiday is set in the most beautiful place - The Hamptons. We meet main character Honour, who is just a fabulous character and really engaged me. She is a wannabe writer and she snaps up the chance of spending the summer at The Hamptons.
There she holidays with her very unlikeable father, she has always had an unusual relationship with her dad. Whilst on holiday she decides that The Hamptons would make a great backdrop for a novel and she is inspired to do so, along come Cellan and the scene is set for her write a some sort of romance novel.
I loved the characters in this novel and I would love to read about Honour again if the writer decides to write about her again. A perfect beach read, fantastic story line and I loved it.
Thanks to Isabelle Broom, Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a copy of this lovely novel.
This is my first novel by Isabelle Broom set in the beautiful and glamorous Hamptons. This is a heart-warming romance full of chemistry and a bit of humour. This is the perfect cosy romance to devour in the summer with two great leads and a fun plot.
An aspiring novelist takes a trip to the US hoping for inspiration and finds much more.
Honor lives in Cambridge with her mother and works in a bookshop. She longs to be a writer like her absent father who lives in New York.
Seeking to enter a competition to write a novel set in two cities in the US and UK, Honor decides to visit her father to get some advice and inspiration.
She joins him on a holiday to the beach and bumps into Cellan, a British movie star who's struggling with his fame. They become friends but there are plenty of misunderstandings and obstacles to overcome as Honor tries to complete the book she's always wanted to write.
This is an easy, enjoyable, escapist, aspirational read which has an interesting thread about publishing and writing along with a perfect holiday setting of the Hamptons, fame and fortune!
I've enjoyed a couple of novels by the author and was drawn to this by the Hamptons setting.
Honor is an aspiring novelist with a challenging relationship with her largely absent father. When she gets the opportunity to spend a summer in the Hamptons with him she feels this is a chance to be inspired and finally write her novel.
I absolutely loved the Hamptons setting and the author's real strength is evoking this sense of place. I felt that I was there with the characters and felt bereft when I finished the novel.
I was less drawn to the characters of Honor and Cellan and much of their story and the characterisations did not quite ring true for me. However, this was still an enjoyable and escapist read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.
3.5 stars
"The Beach Holiday" is another engrossing read from Isabelle Broom and is set in the Hamptons on Long Island, New York. The story revolves around fame, both its advantages and constraints. Honor is the love child of a famous novelist (Jeffrey) and spends time with him every summer in the USA. She is striving to attain her ambition of becoming a published author in her own right, but seems to have writer's block. When the opportunity arises to spend the summer in the Hamptons with Jeff and his mentee Talullah, she jumps at the chance.
Cellan is a well known English actor based in the States who has been struggling with the pressures of fame, and has recently been in rehab for a drink problem. He is surrounded by a team of people who don't necessarily seem to have his best interests at heart.
This is a great summer read, and highly recommended.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.
I always love Isabelle's books and this is no exception. A wonderful visit to the Hmaptons with a writer who is struggling to come up with a MS. She heads to Southampton and well , meets a man who everyone seems to recognise but her. Oh the romance and and the heart felt emotions in this book were superb and I needed this. A mini holiday if ever there was one. I love how Isabelle writes stories and romance but there are always tied up with ribbons of mystery and emotions too. A real treat!
If you've been following my reviews for a while you'll know that I can't resist a book set in the Hamptons. A mis-spent youth watching every episode of Revenge has left me with a yearning to discover the sand dunes of the wealthy New Yorkers for myself. So, when I realised that Isabelle Broom's new book was set here I was in seventh heaven!
Honor lives in Cambridge, England. She loves her job in the student liaison offices of the university and lives in the flat above her Mum's bookshop. It is a nice life but Honor really wants to become an author. Like her Dad. She is the product of an ill fated romance and Honor didn't meet her Dad until she was eight. The world famous thriller writer lives in a fabulous apartment in New York and hosts his daughter for an awkward couple of weeks every summer.
When she arrives in New York for this year's visit she is thrilled to discover that they are going to spend the summer in the Hamptons. Hopefully it will be the inspiration that she needs to finally get that novel down on paper. Surely it is the perfect location to get away from it all and a great setting for the book. A chance meeting hands her the perfect leading man on a plate but she soon discovers how hard it can be to blur the lines between fact and fiction.
You know it's time for the summer holidays when the new Isabelle Broom arrives. She has the most immersive writing style that truly makes you feel like you are there in the story with them. You can feel the warmth of the sun on your face and the gritty sand between your toes. The characters all feel like friends that you want to get to know a little better. These books are the perfect blend of travel guide and engaging contemporary fiction with a healthy dose of romance!

Ok, its been a while, right? Whilst over the last few months I have picked up many books, none have managed to grab my attention to pull be from the longest ever book slump.
That is, untill I started reading #TheBeachHoliday by Isabelle Broom - I'm not 100% sure what pulled me in and held my focus, but something certainly did.
The novel focuses on struggling author to be, Honor, and her quest to make her already famous author Father proud. When her summer trip to NYC to spend time with him results in an unexpected house guest, and an even more unexpected summer trip to the glamorous Hamptons... it turns out to be a summer of self discovery and promise for her, especially when she forms a a friendship with Hollywood heart-throb, Callen.
The book is written in the first person, I cant remember the last time I read a 1st person novel so that in itself was refreshing, however Isabelle's ability to pull you in with her descriptions of locations and feelings in such detail, kept me turning page after page, wondering and thinking about the characters long after I had put the book down.
#TheBeachHoliday was everything and more I'd expect in a summer read, so be sure to add this to your 2023 suitcase
I liked this book, but it's not my favourite book by Broom. I thought Honor to be quite childish at times. That said, I liked the scenic descriptions, and I really liked Cellan. There was enough there to keep me reading, though I wasn't gripped by the story. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another fabulous book by Isabelle Broom
The research that Isabelle does shines through the locations that are visited in the book. The reader is immersed using most senses as it feels as if you can see, touch, hear and smell the locations.
Honor wants to be a successful writer, she wants to tell a story but hasnt yet discovered what that may be. We join her as she decides to enter a writing competition and sets off to visit her estranged father in New York. (a successful writer)
Isabelle is great at exploring complicated relationships - Honor finds herself in the Hamptons with her father where she meets Cellan Thomas, award winning actor. What happens nexts is a journey of self discovery and a delight to read.
Wow this truly was a wonderful read, the perfect book to read on your holidays this year.
I immediately felt transported to the Hamptons with Honor riding along on the bicycle with a little cute basket, the big fab houses, I loved everything about this book including Honors rubbish jokes.
A fabulous story of how opposites attract!
If you need a perfect escapism read then this is for you!
A pleasure to read and review thank you for giving me the opportunity.
The Beach Holiday by Isabelle Broom is another fantastic travel rom-com from the author, which this time sees readers whisked off first to New York City, and then, on to Southampton, in The Hamptons; a known playground of the rich and famous. The story follows Honor, an aspiring author, whose father – a successful author of thriller novels himself – has invited her to join him and his writing protegee, Tallulah – in the Hamptons for the summer.
Honour believes that the only way she can impress her father and win his respect is to become a successfully published author, and when she’s invited to such a fantastic setting, she can’t help thinking it might be the ideal place to inspire her writing. Then, a chance encounter provides her with inspiration for a leading man in her romantic novel work in progress. Blurring this fact and fiction, however, might risk Honor’s own happy ending.
“I’d chosen to put my own pursuit of love on hold in order to write of ficticious one.”
The Beach Holiday is a novel that explores what failure truly means to individuals, the price of fame, and the importance of honesty. It also delves into fraught family dynamics and the parental pressure so many of us face.
It is not only a romance story in the traditional sense but also acts as a love letter to writing itself that will speak to authors – aspiring or otherwise – and to anyone who has struggled with imposter syndrome in their craft.
This is a tale of discovering who you truly are beneath who you believe you should be, in order to find the happiness we all seek. With witty humour that does not take itself too seriously, Isabelle Broom’s writing has a way of exploring difficult topics with the lightness of a gentle ocean breeze.
From the simple to the sublime, journey with Honor on an intriguing romance that takes her from quiet beach strolls to extravagant resorts. Whilst the story’s twists and turns provide an insistent tug that will keep you turning the pages to the very end, to discover the fate of Honor and the man she is seemingly falling for.
Once again, Isabelle Broom has written a romantic comedy that not only tells an emotive and gripping story but also paints such a vivid picture of its settings that you will feel truly immersed in those worlds.
This is a great summer read set in the glamorous Hamptons. It is a romance story but it also has a fantastic storyline about an aspiring author who has always felt she is not good enough. I really enjoyed reading it and I would highly recommend it.
I enjoy Isabelle Broom's books as this one was no exception. A great holiday read and nice to be on a beach while reading about people being on beaches! The dynamics between daughter and father were one of the main subjects of the book and how sometimes family does not come first.
I really enjoyed this lovely summer read which is mainly set in The Hamptons USA. The story begins when Honor leaves her flat in Cambridge for her annual visit to her Father who lives in New York. Upon arrival, she discovers he has rented a house in The Hamptons so they decamp there. Honor hopes that the gorgeous beach location will give her the inspiration to write a novel that will be published just as her famous author Father has accomplished many times.
When Honor literally collides with Cellan she does not recognise him as a famous movie star, but a spark is definitely lit between them but keeping their relationship from the media proves impossible with difficult consequences and hurdles to overcome.
Honor and her Father have a rather strained relationship as he and her Mum are separated and Honor has always felt like a disappointment to him. I was hopeful throughout that they would resolve their problems and misunderstandings to unite as a Father and Daughter relationship should be, and at times this did happen but I felt Honor’s desperation to achieve this.
My thanks to Net Galley and publishers Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC of this delightful novel.
I loved this book, but then I knew I would as I love all Isabelle Broom books! It was just the right escapism that I needed. The main characters of Honor and Cellan were really likeable and I devoured the book in 2 days. I’d definitely recommend!
I like Isabelle Broom.. I found this book hard to get into but you need to keep reading it gets better and better. Set in America. A daughter visits her famous father who is a writer and she just wants his approval on her writing. He has rented a house in The Hamptons and the story goes from there. Makes you realise being famous is not as you imagine . There are some funny bits . The main character Honor was interesting and she got her happy ever after.
The Beach Holiday is the latest novel from Isabelle Broom. This time we’re whisked away to the glamorous Hamptons with aspiring novelist Honor. After her father abandoned her and her boyfriend gave up on her, she feels she’s not good enough. She needs a new firm of inspiration and a trip to the Hamptons seems to be just what the doctor ordered as she begins yet another novel. A dream setting for her book and a chance encounter with a potential leading man could be just the inspiration she needs, as long as fact and fiction don’t cross over. I really enjoyed this book. It’s heartwarming and entertaining and I can definitely recommend it. I would rate this book 4.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton and the author for the chance to review.
