From just the first two chapters, I am already hooked! It is hard to tell exactly what the book is about since I’ve read so little of it but it seems to be about a young woman and the people who live on a mountain with her. On this mountain is a slippery ledge that people can easily fall down into. There are also winged creatures that come and sacrifice people each year. The author writes this story in enchanting detail, building a beautiful yet terrifying world in less than 25 pages. The two characters that we meet also have an intense love affair that will keep you wanting more. I really look forward to reading the rest of this book!

Thank you Netgalley for this sampler of Stacey McEwan's Ledge!
These first two chapters open up Dawsyn's story with life on the Ledge. The writing drags you into the bleak life she lives and though Dawsyn lives by the mantra 'the cold is not alive', McEwan makes it feel as though the cold is reaching through the pages and suffocating you along with the people of the Ledge. A strong introduction to a desolate world and a character whose perseverance and will to survive make her a formidable hero to come. This sampler has me hooked and I look forward to continuing Dawsyn's story with my own copy of Ledge!

I was lucky enough to receive the first two chapters of this book. It's a very good start really sucks you in and wanting to know more about these characters and where the story goes from here. Will definitely be picking up the whole book to finish.

I have read the first two chapters and I’m really interested in what the story have to offer. The description are amazing and the writing is captivating.
It seems a good start for a beautiful book!

Loved the start, however being only a sample it’s a bit frustrating to think it’s an arc for reviewers and then only receiving a sample. Unfortunately without reading the whole book I’m unable to give my honest opinion & feedback. Two chapters is not enough to determine the content of a review. It looks promising but then again without a middle and end it can go either way and my reasoning for 3 starts.

The first two chapters were so good that I immediately purchased the book. I can’t wait to finish it!

This is Hunger Games with snow. Having read only the first two chapters (that's what was offered), I am not sure that I would continue with the series. It seems done to death by other authors. If I had received the entire book, I may have continued reading and would be able to determine if the story strays from the Hunger Games major themes. So, will I buy the book to find out? No.

I recently had the chance to delve into the two-chapter sampler of "Ledge" by Stacey McEwan, and truly, those few pages left me eagerly anticipating the rest of the journey. The writing style immediately captivates, pulling readers into a world rich with atmospheric detail and vivid scenery.
McEwan's prose skillfully paints a picture of the surroundings, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the book's unique atmosphere. The author masterfully weaves descriptions into the narrative, creating a palpable sense of place that adds depth to the story. The attention to detail extends beyond mere visuals; the protagonist's personal opinions on the area provide an insightful layer, giving the narrative a distinctive voice.
What struck me most was the author's ability to create a sense of anticipation. The narrative subtly hints at intriguing elements, leaving readers hungry for more. The pacing in these first two chapters is impeccable, providing just enough information to pique curiosity without giving away too much.
It's no wonder that "Ledge" has gained popularity on BookTok. The writing is magnetic, drawing readers into a world that promises mystery and excitement. As someone who hadn't previously explored this trilogy, the sampler has left me with an undeniable desire to continue the journey and uncover the secrets that lie ahead.
In conclusion, if the rest of "Ledge" lives up to the promise of its opening chapters, readers are in for a treat. Stacey McEwan has crafted a compelling introduction, and I'm excited to dive deeper into the trilogy. "Ledge" has earned its spot on my must-read list, and I'm eager to see where the story takes me.

I just couldn't get into this. Maybe it gets better in the rest of the book, but unfortunately it doesn't start out strong.

I missed the part where is was the first 2 chapters . However i love this book anyways and it’s a total 5 stars for me . Great winter read

Finishing this sample, I am thoroughly intrigued to continue reading. The writing is easy to comprehend and flows smoothly. There are already several intriguing mysteries to uncover and hope for the FMC that she will be able to get off this Ledge to a better life (possibly) or at least something different than the never ending cold and frost. A great beginning to this book and I will continue to read.

You would not BELIEVE the speed at which I ordered this book after reading the sampler.
It’s hard to form a concrete opinion on the book since this is just a sampler of the first two chapters, but it does its job in reeling you in and wanting to find out what happens next. Stacey McEwan does an astounding job of painting a vivid setting within the span of just a few sentences, and absolutely breathes life into her characters in a way that feels effortless. I’m excited to read the rest and see how she develops this story!

A book's ability to pull me in from the beginning is essential to me, and Ledge delivered on this. The first two chapters have a solid setup for the book; the reader learns that the main character, Dawsyn, has lost her family, that the world she lives in is cold and cruel, and that survival is not a guarantee. Her village is as she described, a group of "hostages" being held on the side of a mountain, waiting for "the selection", when one of them is chosen as a sacrifice. Despite the sense of cold loneliness in worldbuilding, this is also spicey, and you don't have to get far into the book for that, either.
I agree with the comparisons to The Hunger Games, and people who enjoy fast-paced dystopian fantasy with a hint of romance and spice will enjoy this book.

Strong FMC!!! Fun set up in a harsh environment look forward to reading the full story soon. I read the sample in one sitting.

This story has a very strong start and I am interested to continue after the first two chapters. Dawsyn seems like a strong no-nonsense MC that depends on no one and I look forward to see how her story continues in Ledge.
I will say I was a bit disappointed about only receiving the first two chapters so this is not a full review so I will not be cross-posting it on GoodReads, but that is what I get for not reading the fine print.

It was only a sample, i dont feel right giving feedback/rating without reading the full book
i did however enjoy the part that i read, and look forward to reading the rest of the novel

What a fun ride! I really enjoy the author’s TikTok content and this sample did not disappoint! I can’t wait to read the book!

What an amazing sample! The first two chapters throw you straight into the world and keep you gripped. I will definitely be picking up the rest of the books!

Thank you to Netgalley for this exclusive sampler!
This was a sample of only two chapters of Ledge but they left me completely hooked. There is so much mystery to this premise. Who are these Glacians and what do they want with these humans? I will definitely be picking up a copy of this book. I need to know what is beyond the chasm and what will happen to the fmc, Dawsyn. She already seems like a very strong and determined lead character.

This sample was a good start to the book. The author's description of the life of these characters is powerful and draws you in right away. It was enough of a sample that I want to continue to read the rest of the story. This was a sample reader's copy and the opinion of this review is my own. Thank you NetGalley and Angry Robot for the opportunity.
