The first 2 chapters were great! I will definitely be buying the book so I can read it in full. The writing style is so gripping straight away and makes you want to carry on. I can see the being a great book to pull you out of a reading slump!
nice sneak peak.
good introduction to the story and the writing style and made me interested to continue in to see where this story is going.
It's only 2 chapters but I can already tell the world building is amazing! It captivated me in a very short amount of time and there's no doubt the trilogy is worth the hype.
As a debut novel this book creates so much potential for the series. Lovers of ACOTAR will see similarities between Dawsyn & Ryon and Nesta & Cass. A strong female with a chip on her shoulder who needs to fight for everything she has and a winged warrior with a violent past. Even the corrupt/evil human queens is a nod to SJM’s series. The magical system seems a bit more complicated in this world McEwan created and I look forward to seeing where she takes it in book 2. The Glacians have some magic, the mage has magic, but most do not. So now that Dawsyn has taken from the pool, much like Nesta took from the cauldron, I am curious to see what she can do with this new ability.
Great start to what sounds like it's going to be a spectacular trilogy.... Off to buy the first book as I couldn't put these chapters down.
Just finished reading the first few chapters and I'm very intrigued. Straight to amazon to buy the full book, will post the full review when finished
I was immediately pulled in from the first page. The way Stacey McEwan writes is very captivating. There was just enough of this sampler to show how much of an intriguing read the full book will be. Immediately adding this to my TBR to see where it goes from here! I'm definitely checking out the author's other works too
I thought this was a great sample and really drew me in! I will be adding this book to my TBR list! I’ve heard others talking about this book so I’m interested in reading more.
This teaser of Ledge gives you just enough to start to understand the makings of the world and also gives curiosity for what happens next. I think this has a slight Hunger Games feel to it, and I'm all for it. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens in the series. I will have to get the books from my library to read more, but it will happen soon!
As an excerpt, it is enticing, I like the writing style, and the premise is interesting.
I would recommend giving it a read, that being said, it is YA so I have an idea of where the story is going with the foreshadowing. Might go both ways.
Thank you to Angry Robot for the opportunity to read the first 2 chapters of the book! I first saw this book in stores around last fall and was instantly drawn in by the cover and the summary. I really love dystopian books and this fits the bill. Dawsyn lives on the ledge, a small spot of land on a cliff face where the Glacians come to choose a sacrifice. This is a gripping story from the beginning.
I received a sample of this in exchange for my review. I was really interested in the story based on the snippet I received. It loosely reminds me of the hunger games, I definitely am intrigued by the world and would read more.
Even though this is an exclusive small sample with only two chapters, I am hooked. I want to read more. I like strong female characters and I like the premise of Ledge. I am already anticipating she will be selected for sacrifice. I want to see where this leads...
I received the sampler for this book, and while it was engaging I do not feel I had enough content to write a review on it!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review - for a full review check out my YouTube or Goodreads account
After reading the sampler for this book, it has definitely opened my mind to adding it to my future reads.
The writing style was interesting and invited the reader in very quickly. My hope would be that the rest of the story keeps me as hooked as the sampler did. Stacey McEwan has managed to draw me in with just a taste of her writing.
The best opener of a book I’ve read in a very long time. Can’t wait to read the rest!
The protagonist seems jaded but relatable, and should make for an interesting narrator throughout
This is a two chapter sample, but it definitely drew me in and I'm about to go look at purchasing the entire book.
Though we only get a short insight into the book, the world development is well thought out, that you're dragged straight into the world quite easily. Dawsyn lives in a cold, dystopian world, trapped there with others all doing their best to survive - all waiting for selection day.
There's a lot of mystery and intrigue in the first two chapters and you get the sense of what type of character Dawsyn is quite quickly.
3rd person POV
dystopian
possible romance
mystery.
I'm hooked by the first two chapters! The premise and set up of the world draws you in. The writing style is mature without being too flowery. I get some The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid vibes, also Maze Runner or Hunger Games dystopia. So if either of those sound appealing then Ledge would be a great book to check out.
I am really interested in learning more about the world and the mystery that surrounds it.
Overall a beautiful start to a fantasy, with prose that makes winter come alive.
The first two chapters of Ledge are skillfully written to draw you into the world without revealing too much, leaving you curious and wanting more. The writing was poetic and set the scene well, and the brief introduction to Dawsyn gave a good sense of her determination and strength. I was so intrigued by this brief sample and will be picking up Ledge soon to read the full story!
Thanks to NetGalley and Angry Robot for this 2-chapter sampler of Ledge, which has made me keen to read more!
