A great thriller with lots of tension and suspense. It's action packed and yes at times unrealistic but easy to overlook that part. This isn't the first book I've read by the author and I'm fast becoming a fan.

I have devoured this book in one sitting. Once I was pulled in, I couldn’t put it down. I was desperate to find out what was going on. Also, I didn’t want this books to end.

Everything about this book has been brilliant. I absolutely loved getting between the covers of this. This was everything I hoped for and so much more. This is a book which should be on everyone’s radar.

I absolutely recommend this book to other readers.

Alex and Morven have the perfect life. They’re a happy couple who love each other dearly and have a beautiful daughter called Poppy. One day though, everything is turned upside down when Morven suddenly goes missing and Alex begins to learn that his wife wasn’t who he thought she was at all, and she had a whole other life before he knew her. I really enjoyed delving into Morven’s old life and her secrets and this kept my interest the whole way through. I was hooked from the first page because I HAD to know what was going to happen.

I really enjoyed reading from the perspective of Alex, our main character. He was really witty and had a good sense of humour which was actually a good thing in a dark thriller to have little bits of lightness even when his life was in tatters. This is a thriller that definitely pulls on your heart strings though and the ending made me really emotional but I feel like it was the right way to end it and it was really moving. I think I’ll remember this book for a long time.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest

Told from the first person point of view of Alex, a man on the edge, who doesn't know who to trust and who’s whole worldview is on very shaky ground. His wife doesn't turn up for a conference and then he discovers that the woman he has been married to for many years, and the mother of his child, doesn't really exist. She is a ghost and has been living under an assumed name her entire adult life.

He follows the trail of breadcrumbs which lands him in a world of trouble. The police are involved but he chooses not to trust them and heads off to do his own investigation with the aid of a friend. I had to suspend my disbelief in level of police involvement as I doubt they would leave a family liaison officer with a family 24/7 when somebody was just missing. But it was well enough written that I could let that drop.

Alex has an odd ear for detail and references to obscure song lyrics, I especially liked the scene in the service station where he inadvertently terrified the poor night manager by quoting the lyrics to the punk song that been playing over the PA.

As you would expect for a first person narration the protagonists character is very well developed but the rest are comparatively thin. It would have been nice to have a bit more backstory or history to them, especially he policeman friend, but it’s a minor criticism.

What I liked:
Wonderfully twisty.
I had difficulty putting it down.

What didn’t work for me:
Alex makes so many foolish decisions that I often felt like slapping him.

Suitable For: Adults
Sex: None
Violence: Some
Drug Reference: Some
Swearing: Yes

After ten years of happy marriage, Alex's wife Morven goes missing on her way to a corporate retreat. As if this isn't bad enough, Alex learns from the police that his wife Morven is basically a fiction -- false name, false background, etc. etc. This one had me racing through the pages to find out what happened to Morven. This was suspenseful and fast-paced yet emotional.

Alex and Morven have a pretty perfect marriage. Still madly in love after ten years, they have no secrets from each other and their life in London with their daughter Poppy is happy.

Until one day it changes. Morven disappears, and her car is found abandoned. The police come around to Alex's house to tell him things about his wife he never knew - her real name, her past life, the secrets she kept from him. And Alex realises he's been loving a lie. He needs answers and on the shore of a dark and remote lake in Wales, he learns that the tragic events which shaped the past now threaten to rip apart the present.

This is such an emotional rollercoaster of a thriller that is compelling and makes you think about the characters long after you have finished reading.

The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, and no significant gaps between words. Some text written has been typed in red and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.

This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Thank you to @netgalleyuk #netgalley for letting me read and review!

Loved this from the start. Morven and Alex have a perfect family life with their daughter Poppy - that is until Morven’s past come back to haunt her!

Alex does everything he can to make sure his family can be put back together ….. lots of twists and turns …. I read this and did think a few times it was a bit far fetched and should be a movie but was actually brilliantly written and I really couldn’t put it down!

Thank you to #NetGalley and #Constable for the copy of #IKnowWhoYouWere by #NickCurran
If you are going to buy one book this week make it this one.
From the first page I was hooked and the shocks and twists just kept coming.
Alex and Morven lead a normal life with their 9 year old daughter Poppy, nothing very exciting happens and that’s just the way they like it.
Until Morven disappears on a work trip. Nick is convinced that he can find her. Nobody knows her better than him or do they ???
A great first novel.

I’m not sure what it was about this book I didn’t take to but I almost stopped reading after only about 15%. It somehow failed to grab my attention and every time I put it down I wasn’t in a hurry to get back to it.
However I persevered and it did improve with plot and characters becoming more interesting. Can’t say it was a favourite read but worth a solid three stars.

The Perfect Life?..
When the past catches up with the present it may come with spectacular results and could even be fatal. Alex and Morven have the perfect life, the perfect marriage, everything they could ever need. Don’t they? Perhaps not, as when fate takes a turn their house of cards comes tumbling down. Cleverly constructed suspense with a deftly crafted cast of characters and a plot populated with twists and turns, lies and secrets galore. Difficult subjects are dealt with a careful and emphatic pen and emotional turmoil well painted. Tension mounting read.

This was a story which started with a bang and very quickly set the stage for twists and turns galore. It’s starts with what we are led to believe is a simple case of someone gone missing, but that doesn’t last long before we discover there is so much more to this than meets the eye.

Loved the story and the characters.

Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

This was a good read. Slow but readable. 3*.
