I liked the premise of the novel, old friends on a stag do in the Mediterranean. However, most of the characters were unbelievable and the narrative did not sustain my interest.

Ten years on after university, how well do you know the people you once called your best friends? That's what Pete has to ask himself on a bachelor party weekend with people he's mostly lost contact with. Instead of reconnecting, old tensions flare, and things only get worse when the yacht they're on is suddenly adrift at sea.
Told in two timelines, this story details the secrets of the present and the secrets of the past everyone has tried to keep buried. It is intense and bloody, and constantly took me by surprise. The milquetoast cover art does this book a disservice because it really is a page-turner. A good read for fans of thriller writers like Lucy Foley and Linwood Barclay.
I received this arc for free on netgalley in exchange for a review.
This book started out strong. I really enjoyed the first 20% but then it just got weird. I didn’t really like the characters and the twist was anti climatic. I skimmed the last 25% to find out what happened.
Sadly, this book was a DNF for me . I was so excited to read it but once I picked it up and got the story going, it was more confusing than anything. I’m the type of person that likes to read a book and not be confused. I think I made it about 20% through before I finally put it down and said no. This book jumps back-and-forth a lot with point of view. Basically you’re jumping 10 years from past to the present so honestly, it was hard to keep up with what I was reading. The cover and the title both got me so excited for this book so I’m really sad that I DNF’d it. From what I read, I would have to give it a 2/5. I do know a lot of friends interested in this type of book where it does jump back-and-forth so just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean you won’t! I feel like the story did get better as time went on. It was just more confusing for me personally, so I do highly recommend that you check it out!
I would like to thank @netgalley , M.A. Hunter, and @bookandtonic for giving me this arc in exchange for an honest review! All opinions are my own.
This title comes out on 05.04.23!
An intriguing page-turner of a story with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The setting was fantastically claustrophobic and the story development was perfectly paced. A great read.
Pacy, Tension Fuelled..
A stag party aboard a luxury yacht takes a sinister turn in this pacy, tension fuelled suspense. Under the searing sunshine, as the group enjoy the heat, relish the sumptuously equipped yacht and sink the beers little do they know that things are soon about to change. An atmospheric, one sit revenge thriller with an undercurrent of menace from the off, a deftly drawn and credible cast of characters and a swiftly moving narrative which moves seamlessly through a dual timeline.
Loved the sound of this book, a real thriller. Is was easy to read with chapters skipping to present and past. However I really struggled to connect with any of the characters.
Enjoyable easy read which kept me guessing to the end.
Pete is sailing on a rented yacht in the Balearic Islands with his old college friends, celebrating a getaway before the wedding of his former roommates, Fergus, who happens to be marrying his sister, Simone. With every luxury onboard, all is well.
Until it isn't.
Undercurrents from a shared secret in their past start rippling as their boat's motor dies, the power goes out, and the mates start turning suspicious eyes on each other. Things rapidly go from bad to worse and they find themselves stranded and adrift, at sea.
Interesting premise but the characters were not as deep as one would hope for. Clearly defined chapters between the "then" and "now" but not a lot of connections between the two.
Ok. But not great.
Whoa! What a crazy story!! It definitely had me on the edge of my seat! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, A bit of a while done it, and so many crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! It went in so many different directions that I had no idea who did what?! Lol great book! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
I'm embarrassed to admit I put my day on hold today. I just had to finish this book. The plot moved along at speed, even the past and present chapters didn't annoy me (I rarely enjoy books that bounce between). I even stopped trying to guess who was doing everything. Without leaving spoilers I can't say why I had to change my mind, but it will be obvious if you read it. The ending also came as a surprise.
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
