Wasn’t a big fan of this I’m afraid to say! Loads of my friends loved it but I just couldn’t get into it sadly.

Oh boy, if there’s a buzz, it’s probably about "The Seven Year Slip." Everyone and their mother seems to be raving about it, and I, a sucker for all things time-travel, was ready to dive in. The plot is irresistible: an overworked book publicist, Clementine West, meets a charming, lemon meringue pie-making man in her kitchen, only to find out he lives seven years in the past. It's got all the makings of a whimsical, heartwarming tale.

But here’s the twist—this one just didn’t do it for me. Don’t get me wrong, the concept is clever and the time-slip romance is intriguing. Yet, the characters didn’t quite hit the mark. Clementine and her time-tangled beau felt a bit too prickly and petty for my taste. Spending time with them wasn’t as delightful as I’d hoped, and it pulled me out of the book's groove.

So, while "The Seven Year Slip" has a lot going for it and might just be the perfect read for many, it missed the mark for me. Sometimes, even the most magical premises can falter if the characters don’t quite charm you. It’s a cute and clever book, just not the one for me.

This was magical and heart warming, I love that it gave space to explore some deeper themes such as suicide. I see why so many people love this book and although I enjoyed it I did find myself struggling a little to get through it

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston was a surprise for me when I read it, in that I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did! I do not read a lot of books with magical realism in them, so I tend to tread carefully. Here we meet Clementine and Iwan and I loved their relationship and I just wanted them to be on the same timeline! It was a difficult read at times due to the nature of the book and how the complexities of grief are explored. However it's done very well!

This is the second book I've read by Poston (the other being The Dead Romantics) and this did not disappoint. I look forward to reading A Novel Love Story very soon!

I loved this so much!! I was on pins as I read through the romance as I initially I didn't understand how this story could have a happy ending, I was convinced they would never meet up in the same timeline, but I am relieved that it was a HEA and a brilliant one at that. Ashley Poston (if we forget the Meet Cute novella) can do no wrong, I adore everything she writes.

5 stars all the way! This book was amazing in so many ways. It was sweet, touching, romantic and everything in between. I had high expectations for this (since I loved her last book Dead Romantics) and I was NOT disappointed. The mystery of how the without would handle the seven year slip kept me reading, and once it began I couldn’t put it down! Clementine (Lemon) and Iwan went n my heart install. I even enjoyed ALL the side characters Fiona and Drew and all if it! I regret whaling this long to read this one and Ashley Poston has now made my top 5 author list with this one. Read it…you won’t regret it!

This is every last bit as wonderful as everyone says it is. Not for a moment did I want to put the book down, delighted to immerse myself into these characters' lives for as long as possible.

I really enjoy Ashley Poston’s books. They have romance with a little something extra making them a great light read and easy to get lost in.

I fell in love with the dead romantics when it first came out and I was so eager to read the seven year slip when I read the synopsis, and while this book was slow to start for me the pay off was absolutely incredible. I’m fully convinced Ashley poston weaves magic through her pages because by the end I was completely spellbound. I not only adore this book (and the dead romantics ) but often find myself months(years in the case of dead romantics)later thinking of clementine, Iwan, Florence and benji they live rent free in my head and I’m definitely not mad about it. I honestly spent the last 50 pages reading through a flood of tears they would not stop falling I also don’t think I’ve every read from an author that captures grief quite as real as in here it really does make for a magical but heartbreaking read. Beautiful writing and beautiful story one that I’m certain will stay with me for a very long time

Thank you so much to the publisher via netgalley for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review

Another wonderful book by Ashley Poston that handles the complexities of grief with a gentle sweetness. Craving lemon pie now <3

This was my second Ashley Poston book and, again slightly to my surprise as this isn't my usual go to genre, I found myself completely drawn in, invested in the characters, and desperately wanting to know where the story was going and how it would conclude. In short, I loved it.

This was another fantastic book by this author. I loved the main characters, I loved the relationship between Clementine and Iwan, I loved the fact that reading and books featured heavily in the storyline. The only concept that I wasn’t overly keen on was the time travelling aspect and is the only reason why this wasn’t a five star read for me.

Time travelling isn’t a trope that I particularly enjoy (despite the time travellers wife being one of my all time favourite books). The way it worked was explained well however, I struggled getting my head around how it all worked. The fact that something like that could happen in a “real world” setting baffled me and I found it difficult to suspend my belief that much. I still thoroughly enjoyed the book and would definetely recomend it.

Ashley Poston has done it again, this was another five star prediction that didn’t disappoint. The Seven Year Slip is unputdownable from start to finish. Seriously, I loved every single page and the fact a familiar face or two makes an appearance.

I can’t tell you how much I adored The Seven Year Slip! I love the concept of an apartment that flits between two different times and the lives that come together and overlap as a result. Clementine and Iwan are my new favourite fictional couple, I was rooting for them from the start.

The Seven Year Slip left me feeling all warm and happy and I can’t wait to read their next book. I think it’s about time I pulled out the Geekerella books for a read. I can’t recommend it enough, its the perfect summer read! If you haven’t read The Dead Romantics yet, I recommend giving that a read, too.

This was my first Ashley Position book and I am OBSESSED. I love magical realism and romance, so if you put them together, it’s like a dream for me. I loved the time travel aspect of this book, I loved the chemistry Iwan and Clementine had (and such cute names- Lemon). I just loved everything about it! It even made me cry so that’s a winner in my book.

“Every book is a time capsule”

I absolutely loved The Dead Romantics and somehow this book became my favourite of the year so far. This was such a beautiful story with a profound sense of wonder. I loved how the apartment felt like a third main character.

Lemon and Iwan kept me wanting to pick my kindle up at every opportunity and their love story was one of want and true love.

I’m so excited to see what Ashley brings out next

I truly cannot think of a more unique, smart and winsome writer in the genre than Ashley Poston. Even though the Seven Year Slip forces a suspension of belief, her words are filled with such integrity and authenticity that you will follow her to the ends of the earth. I love that she embraces as well as subverts romantic tropes all while showering us with a warm and wise exploration of love. Clementine's desire for love and the walls she builds protectively to fortress herself only makes her a more complex and beguiling character who we root for even through the bittersweet moments of ill-timing and loss. There's a yearning here and established within a readable, bookish world that just highlights the best of what is happening in the romance genre these days. Highly innovative and wonderfully told.

So The Dead Romantics is one of my absolute favourite reads ever so was pretty excited to get my hands on Ashley’s next book! And it did not disappoint!

I was a bit skeptical going in as to how the premise would work but it was perfect. Without given anything away this book gives all the feels with the themes of grief, emotion, working through it and finding yourself dealt with beautifully.

In a nutshell go and read Clementine’s story!

This should have been amazing but I found it really disappointing.
I was so excited to pick this up as it features one of my favourite tropes - time travel. Maybe I hyped it up too much in my head but I was disappointed by the execution. The concept is genius yet, while it did hold my attention for the most part, I thought the author could have done much more with it. I didn't really like the characters, which had a big impact on readability, and I didn't feel invested in their relationship enough to care or feel any of the emotions that the author was trying to relay. Whilst I appreciate why this is marketed as a romance, it is primarily a story about grief that has a romance side plot.
Maybe I wanted too much from it but The Seven Year Slip just wasn't the book for me.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
