Flora Bick had an idyllic life working on the family owned dairy farm. She discovers a big secret about her past and runs to London for the night to consider what it means to her. raffele Russo owns the hotel she escapes to. She wanders into his orbit, they have a ONS and she runs back home. He tracks her down and together they discover she is pregnant. They go to Sicily and she realises the enormity of his wealth. She knows she lives him but can she get him to admit the same to her?
These are two strong, determined characters who are divided by wealth but in their ways very similar. Both are tenacious, determined and stubborn individuals. The storyline is well thought out and timed, the author doesn’t drag the story out and makes the characters believable and relatable to the reader. This is her second novel and I enjoyed it.
An excellent second book from Lela May Wight. Strong, believable characters, an engaging one night with consequences story and a healthy dose of emotion, the book will make you smile and she’d the odd tear.
Flora is emotional and upset having finally seen the details of her birth mother, she finds herself running through a hotel and straight into the arms of a mystery stranger. When their one night together leaves her pregnant, Rafaelle the hotel owner comes looking for her to make his claim.
A great extended metaphor as our couple are bashed about by a storm whilst they work our what they mean to each other. The luxury lifestyle clashes with the simple farm life and yet there is something that makes you want the couple to make things work, you want the fear and bruised past to be overcome and you want them to have their HEA.
Emotional and passionate, this glamorous love story takes you to the heart of the characters' lives. As a reader, you get to know them well. Their initial meeting is intense and unique. What follows is sensual. The characters' introspection tells the story, and even though it borders on fantasy, it draws you into the couple's lives and makes what happens there matter.
I like the characters and the passionate intensity of this story.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
I've not read this author before but thoroughly enjoyed this
Quite a quick read, I was drawn in from the start
I will certainly be looking out for this author again
A lovely afternoon read
Well this was different! I really don’t know how to rate this one, because it was so unusual.
Firstly, the author has a very distinctive voice and her prose is really masterful at times - almost operatic in style, but unfortunately, there was so much repetition! In their thoughts, in reflections of the past, in their dialogue that I kept wondering when we would move on.
I could suspend disbelief in terms of the plotting and the back stories of the hero and heroine most of the time. However their behaviour was such that I really struggled to suspend disbelief especially in respect of Flora.
. Raffael had a kind of gentle innocence about him which was at odds with his determination to be cold and in control. Flora went from over protected, sheltered, homeschooled virgin to worldly, brave, empowered woman in the blink of an eye. She was the one in control for most of the last half of the book, and managed and manipulated until she achieved her goals. No matter that he thought he was the one dictating their relationship. Raffaelle
believes he can never love anyone, Fiona falls in love and believes he really loves her but she can’t convince him - lots of discussion - .. rinse and repeat for what seems like half of the book.
I enjoyed it and I’ll probably read more by this author but although I admired her writing style, I wasn’t overwhelmed by the story.
