This is historical romance- our female main character engineers her own kidnapping. He uncle controls all of the finances for her and her sister so this is the only way she can get access to it and free them both.
Our male main character is the kidnapper, but unfortunately her uncle doesn't pay the ransom and just takes the opportunity to steal away her sister to marry her off so that our FMC cant object.
Cue some shenanigans while they work together to try and track them down by boat and by train. And the MMC may not be who he seemed - have they both betrayed each other?
This was good, and a nice change from so many historical romances set in England!
The decisions made by the characters aren't always the most sensible, but are logical within the restraints of what they now and what they can do. Also minimal miscommunication which is always a plus
4 stars, this was a new to me author that I would read again
I strated reading this story more than once, but found that I could not get into the swing of it. I did not find the main characters empathetic nor the storyline persuasive. And thus I failed to finish the book.
Exactly the type of story I wanted to read when I chose this book. I would recommend this book to any lovers of historical romantic fiction, and I'll definitely be reading this book again.
Amalia tries to escape from her uncle who controls her sister and fortune. She hires Julian to stage her kidnapping to gain her inheritance from her uncle.
The premise really intrigued me for this one. I liked the banter between the two characters and the setting was really unique. I really enjoyed the book's first half but didn't love the second half as much.
Overall this was a good read. I am interested to check out more from this author in the future.
