Friendly Mimi is a sweet and adventurous giraffe who lives in a zoo and loves playing with children. But, she also has big dreams: this small giraffe wants to be a fashion model! She practices diligently every day. But, she gets no support from the other zoo animals who make fun of her and hurt her feelings. One day, Mimi leaves the zoo and sets out on an adventure to achieve her dreams! She finds a magnificent circus filled with supportive animal friends who encourage her to enter a fashion contest in the big city.

This is a lovely and motivational little read! Mimi is inspirational and determined. Although she encounters several obstacles on her journey, she continuously believes in herself, never gives up on her dreams, and works hard to achieve her goals. She can definitely teach both kids and adults some valuable and timeless life lessons! The book also has admirable messages on determination, the power of friendship, and kindness to others. Sometimes, the messages get a little obvious and preachy. But, they are important and positive ones and I do understand Carvajal’s intentions to inspire and motivate kids.

The book is written in a simple and easy-to-follow rhyming narrative that is filled with approachable words. Kids will have a lot of fun reading this book out loud! However, the rhymes are sometimes forced and do not flow very naturally.

The bright and colourful full-page illustrations are fun and eye-catching. Mimi is so cute with her friendly face. I love her pink and white dress and her chic little pink handbag! I also like the wide range of zoo animals like lions, kangaroos, elephants, and bears. The circus animals are particularly memorable and lively with their stylish hats, colourful jackets, and musical instruments.

The tale follows Mimi, an adorable tiny giraffe, whose dream is to become a fashion model. She learns many valuable life lessons about acceptance, trust, and that it is always best that you have a good sense of humour as you journey along in life. The book teaches the importance of believing in yourself and that dreams can come true.

The colourful vibrant illustrations are beautifully done. I love the diversity of the animals portrayed and I especially love Mimi's character. It's a wonderful book with a positive message that I highly recommend. Excellent job Dr. Betty!

This book covers achieving your dreams despite diversity. Mimi was doing some self-discovery and being determined. The things in this book are the power of friendship, acceptance, obstacles, and kindness. Mimi has a support system, encouragement, and kindness. It is okay to be different. The illustrations were vivid, colorful, and detailed. I recommend this book to children under the age of 5 years old. I give this book 4 stars.

This is a cute children’s book about acceptance and keeping your head high. Mimi is a giraffe with big dreams but she seems to be the smallest animal in the zoo and kept getting laughed at. Soon after Mimi found the circus that had many different animals doing many different things and she ended up finding a place she fit in well.
