I did not enjoy this book and it took me almost a year to try and finish it but i just couldnt. Sorry.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publishers for giving me an e-ARC.
I will be honest. I believe this was not my tea. I believe it can be a nice fun read, but I certain felt like I was just pushing myself to read for the sake of..... reading it. I do love the aspects of friendship and family in this book but other than that, I didn't really feel pulled into the book.
I may not have liked this book but I believe this book is catered to a certain niche romance. You might be in that niche, so I definitely highly recommend trying this book. But if not, at the end of the day you get a nice romance and a story with good friendship and family telling.
David Arnold has written THE novel. One I’m sure to recommend over and over again. It is a love story between a boy and a girl, yes. However, it is so much more. It is a novel that isn’t afraid to break your heart. It is a novel that gives you permission to laugh on one page and sob a few pages later. This novel pays homage to mothers and sons, to brothers, to sisters, and good friends. Arnold shows relationships between students and teachers that I understand to my core. It examines (trigger warning) mental health, divorce, and death. This novel will leave your heart aching and yet very, very full.
First of all a big thank you to the author, the publishers and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.
“Silence and sadness are not the same things. And I wish more people understood that, is all.”
This took me a little while to get into. However when I did, I found this to be an emotional read. I did find this confusing at times but I liked the characters. Evan and Shosh were my favourite POV’s in this. Overall this was an enjoyable read.
This was an interesting take on a romance novel, which reminded me of ‘They All Die In The End’ by Adam Silvera, in that it evoked so many emotions.
Evan and Shosh, the two main characters, are young people who are fighting their own battles, However, they are drawn together due to mysterious songs that only they can hear. Woven through their stories are historic tales of true love, each with a mystical twist.
A story of true love, young love, friendship and family, this was a whimsical, heart-felt novel, which I enjoyed and recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.
I found this book very frustrating, confusing and totally pointless. Not for me. I gave up wasting my time trying to understand the story.
Thank you to Netgalley for this free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I had very mixed opinions on this book. The characters I thought were relatable and very likeable, however I kept finding myself lost in the story and not really remembering what was happening. I think personally that this book was just not for me.
I thought the cover was beautiful, I loved the use of the glowy background and font.
I gave this book a 3⭐️.
This was an odd story. There was a lot of switching between timelines and characters. I enjoyed the writing and the storyline even if I was a bit confused most of the time
Picture this: I'm sat on a 5 hour long train journey, reading this whole book in one sitting, having to stop at multiple points and physically force myself not to burst into tears in front of all the other passengers. This had me SO emotional - the PR package I was sent included tissues with this book, and boy were they needed! It was literally gutpunching at times (especially the scenes between Evan and his mum).
This does take a bit of work to get into - the prose is very poetic and dreamy, and I did find myself in the first few pages unsure of whether I would actually like this or not (I already had pretty high expectations from the stunning cover alone!). However, once I was in, I was fully in - I loved these characters, I loved the concept, the notion of meeting again and again in different lifetimes and being drawn to certain souls. It was honestly just so beautiful, and completely full of hope too.
I wish it had been longer so I could have spent more time with these characters. Admittedly, I did prefer Evan's POV to that of Shosh, but I think that's more of a personal preference based on what they were going through/finding Shosh's addiction to be quite uncomfortable to read personally. I also just adored Evan's little brother Will and his obsession with E.T. - he has my whole heart.
This won't be the book for everyone, and I can understand why, but for me I absolutely loved it and desperately need to read more from this author now.
Absolutely brilliant, loved it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an advance copy, I will definitely be recommending.
Personally not for me, sorry.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
This is a book that transcends boundaries and blurs the line between the here and now, the past, and the not quite real. It's beautifully written, heartfelt and poignant, showcasing a journey through time and space. With very real-feeling characters and pain that bleeds through the pages, I couldn't recommend this more.
I wanted to love this book more than I did BUT I think the narrative approach was fun and a lot of people will love it!
This enchanting book revolves around two characters who navigate the intricacies of love, loss, grief, and familial support. Their unique connection lies in their ability to hear a shared song, marking them as destined to be together. As the narrative unfolds, brief backstories of other couples finding love through similar musical destinies add depth to this heartwarming tale. Skillfully written, the book weaves a lovely story that captivates readers with its charm and emotional resonance.
The E-Book could be improved and more user-friendly, such as links to the chapters, no significant gaps between words and a cover for the book would be better. It is very document-like instead of a book. A star has been deducted because of this.
This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
This one was a DNA for me unfortunately, I just couldn't get to grips with the writing and put it down at about 25% sadly.
I personally found it hard to get into this book, but it was an ok read once I had done so, happy reading !
My teenage daughter demolished this book in a few days.
Perfect read alone for her to peruse and then we had really good chats about it.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review .
Sadly this book was not for me, I just couldn't relate to the characters at all, The problem was probably that my mature age was against me rather than the writing.
I was given this book to read by Netgalley for an unbiased review. Unfortunately I hated everything about this book. I didnt make the connection between the different lives until I read on the reviews that this was what was happening. I couldnt connect with the characters, didnt like the style of writing and thought it was generally a pretty boring book. My favourite bit was when they were having parties. I nearly did not finish numerous times but thought it might get better. It didnt.
Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me. I could not get into it though I tried several times as the premise of the book sounded really good. The beginning just did not hook me at all.
