I really enjoyed this one!! Got through it super fast, and I’ll definitely be thinking about it for a while. Although it didn’t make me cry the way I expected, it did make me FEEL!!

I’m not the biggest fan of the writing style, it felt a little stunted at some points, and I was a little confused about the timeline at other points, so going into this I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did. I kept reading and the style didn’t so much as grow on me as it became familiar and wasn’t taking away from the coherence of the story as much.

I really liked the inclusion of the alternate timelines, that was super interesting I haven’t seen that done before, but it did make the story feel a little patchwork-y; which is not a negative thing in and of itself, and I can’t quite pinpoint what is bugging me about it but I wish that maybe those stories were presented at times that made more sense, like if they were eased into e.g. the characters said something or did something and then we see the flashback/forward where the other couple is doing something- I think if the links were a little clearer it would feel less disjointed.

I do love the story, though! Truly, it was a beautiful story of love and loss and dealing with grief, anger, self-doubt, and all those intense, unnamed emotions that can be so hard to pin down in writing. Although the writing felt like it was trying too hard to be profound, and it sometimes got convoluted in its metaphors, I understood the intention and really enjoyed the attempt to wrangle those experiences. Particularly towards the end with the Christmas kickback scene, which was so full of that gentle, warm kind of love, I loved it so so much!!

I loved that it wasn’t overly optimistic while still capturing the magic of possibility; the soulmate thing was a little on the nose but also, I will always eat up anything soulmates/red string/fate so that didn’t bother me at all- I would like answers to the ending with the musician dude???? What?? How did he know the songs??

Overall, a fun read, and it definitely delivered on the cosy (with a bit of bite) winter vibes- great fun!

What a lovely story, such a nice heart warming read. I loved the main characters and if you didn’t guess really enjoyed the book as well.

Oh this book. The ending.

First of all I won’t lie this was a very slow starter for me and I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it. But I did and I loved the main characters Evan and Shosh but the one I loved the most….Will. I don’t think I will ever watch ET in the same way without thinking about Will.

The writing in this book was so lovely and the way you realise that they really have loved each other in another life was just amazing. If you didn’t guess by now I really loved reading this book.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’m the target audience for this book.. I found it muddled and didn’t like the writing style. I also couldn’t relate to the characters. I do, however, think it would make a great film as it’s very visual.

Sorry not for me, dull characters and it was just far to slow. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

A quiet singing in your ear - what can it mean and can anyone else hear it?
It can go on forever and can be heard across centuries. It brings people together. It helps.

Another new author to me having never read any of his previous stuff I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was draw in by the blurb.

It was a moving book jam packed with emotions but the story itself was very slow and felt at times kind of losing its way which then made me have no idea what was going on at times and zoning out!
I liked that we got to know Evan and shosh individually and about their lives but would of loved for them to have met sooner.
Unfortunately not for me the more I tried to get it the less I liked it!!

I really enjoyed this- it's a smart concept about a pair of soulmates finding each other repeatedly across time. Trigger warnings for alcoholism and death/grief, some of which are kindly flagged at start.
I did feel that Arnold could have woven more of the flashes to other couples throughout history as that's what made this book unique and the pace flagged with repetition in places, plus the "night bird" moving on to another couple somewhat confused me and stole some of the powerful nature of this device that it wasn't specific to this couple, so slightly confusing? Overall, enjoyable.

I was sent the ebook ARC by Netgalley and Bonnier Books UK in exchange for an honest review.

Hearing about this book, I was intrigued by the premise and eager to get into this love story. However, the relationship between the main characters, Evan and Shosh, felt like more of a side plot, and I felt underwhelmed by this. There seemed to be more focus on their individual characters and how they were dealing with certain emotional circumstances. Don't get me wrong, I thought that the writing at times was beautiful, quite emotive and expressive. Although at times I also found the writing style quite long-winded, it caused me to sometimes zone out having to reread. Or when reading certain scenes in the book, they would be abrupt and jumbled, hence leading me to wondering what just happened or why something was said, which often left me to feel a bit confused. To be fair, I'm not sure if this was the author's overall completed writing style or due to fact the publisher's not yet untertaking much editing yet due to it being an ARC.

In my opinion, it took too long for the main characters to cross paths. This caused me to lose a bit of interest in their relationship and found that I wasn't really rooting for them by the time they actually did interact.

My favourite thing about this book was the relationship between Evan and his brother Will. I thought their relationship and adoration for each other were written quite well and found myself feeling more connected to their scenes in the book.

I wish this book was a bit more balanced so that I could've rated it higher as I feel that the author has really great potential. There were beautiful and emotive elements in this book that will stay with me

I struggled a little with this book. It was very slow, I couldn’t get invested in any of the characters and the ending left me a little cold. The writing is nice and the story is ok, just lacking oomph for me.

I liked the premise of the novel but not the execution and did not finish. Readers who like younger adult fiction and starting on their literary journey will enjoy it but I am not of that audience.

Unfortunately i only got through 30% of this book and gave up. I had such high hopes reading the synopsis but was bitterly disappointed. It just didn’t flow for me at all. It felt very frustrating as it seemed very disjointed. I never give up on books, always happy to give all genres a try but this one was not for me.

Thanks to Bonnier Books UK and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.

The idea of this book was definitely better than the execution.

When I first went into this, it was almost giving "You've Reached Sam" vibes and it also reminded me a little of "If I Stay". The idea behind this story intrigued me, but the way this was written made it really difficult for me to engage fully with not only the story and the plot, but the characters. I'm not sure if it was intentional that it felt chaotic and confusing as we read, but unless there ends up being a concrete reason for that by the end, I don't like it, and this book did not tie up nearly half as much as I'd hoped it would by the time I got to the end.

The main characters, while I didn't mind their individual stories, took too long to come together into one storyline, and I just wasn't invested in the jumps in the timeline.

An interesting concept and maybe someone's cup of tea, but unfortunately, it wasn't mine!

I read this super quick whilst I had a sick day which is a plus andI found some of the subjects in it, a little deep. Im not ususally into YA and I found some of the characters very cliche and at times I found that nothing really was happening. Deffo not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

I hoped for a cute love story maybe because of the synopsis and the cover but it didn't meet my expectations unfortunately. Still, it was good because it dealt with some heavy topics like grief, sadness and cancer diagnosis. I am sure some other people will enjoy this because of its writing style and the story might touch them more than it did to me.

Book Review 📚
I Loved You In Another Life by David Arnold - 3.5/5 ⭐

So, this was a tough one. There writing style and detail throughout was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style, but the lack of plot/story made it really hard to get in to.

It was a really slow burn but I don't really judge a book by that, as it's endgoals I'm aiming for. But the lack of plot behind the characters really made it difficult. The love story and characters were absolutely brilliant and the book itself would of easily got a higher rating if there was more to it.

I loved the Heartbreak and HEA tropes, and completely fell in love with the MCs. Between the characters and the writing from Arnold, it made it worth finishing.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.

A little slow in places but a book with truly beautiful writing. For me though, the characters were too cliched and thus I struggled to engage as much as I wanted to.

Oh dear, I really did not like this book. The characters are cliches, the story trite. I did not finish it. Thank you for the prepublication ebook NetGalley.

This is always such a shame to say, but I couldn’t finish this book. I made it 40% through and I feel like absolutely nothing happened other than learning about the two traumatic events the main characters went through. I get why these were mentioned a lot, but it seems like they were their only personality traits, you literally learn nothing else about them.

The actual writing seemed good and I did find I was making fast progress but when I’m zooming through pages and the book is moving at less than a snail’s pace, that’s not good.

The flashback scenes didn’t help with this and honestly, I skimmed a few of them because I just didn’t really get what was going on. It’s not made very obvious that these people you are reading about back in the 19th century or whenever it takes place, are supposed to be Evan and Shosh in different lives. If you read the synopsis of the book it makes more sense, but not everyone does, which I know is a bit strange to say, but they don’t. They’ll see this beautiful cover and just assume it’s a nice romance, but it’s not.

There isn’t anything inherently wrong with this book, nothing problematic that I came across, so that wasn’t a factor in me putting it down. It was more that I was bored, not much was happening and honestly, it’s a bit depressing. I wasn’t expecting this to be super happy or anything but not one single happy thing happened in almost half the book and it was really bringing my mood down.

If I wasn’t so busy at the moment I probably would have given this book more of a chance, but I don’t have time to waste on books I’m not enjoying.

I did enjoy this book. But I found it hard to enjoy. I loved Evan. He is everything. But the whole interconnecting timelines and the Nightbird lost me. They hear songs when they’re not together but I was confused how it brought Shosh and Evan together. I wish it had just been a story about them. We didn’t need the songs or the other couples. The entire book was made for me by Will, Evan’s little brother. I loved him. He made my heart melt. He was adorable and everything and I loved the book purely for him.
