This book is about two couples, Sophia and Mark and Erin and Jamie that meet when they are on their honeymoon. While they are there a man dies who all of them have met very briefly, are any of them involved in his death? Lots of twists in this book and a very unexpected ending. I enjoyed it very much. Will definitely read more books by this author.

Oooh this was good ! I was immediately hooked and it was perfect for my summer holiday- I loved how it started and then there were twists and surprises littered throughout . I didn't have clue how it would end as I can never guess what is going to happen. There are lots of secrets and lies to the story and the characters in my opinion aren't very nice ! I loved second guessing and got it wrong everytime. This is a great thriller and don't think you would be disappointed in it!

Two couples meet and dine together on the last night of their honeymoons in Bali. In the storm that follows, a man falls to his death. But who was responsible?
I was slightly disappointed in The Honeymoon, as I had been looking forward to reading it. However I found it quite difficult to get into, as the action kept flitting about from character to character which made it harder to explore the characters themselves. It’s a book that just about makes it worth persevering to the end, with some delightful twists and unexpected surprises as the climax is reached, but I fear many won’t get that far.

I haven’t awarded a book 5 ⭐️ in months but this one well and truly deserved them. Stories within stories can easily become confusing but this author manages them with aplomb. The characters are all thorough developed, believable and engaging. The plot steams along with plot line after plot line keeping the reader thoroughly engaged. Obviously there are characters you’ll like and some you may hate and whilst there are few technical details about the death the strength of writing and characterisation more than make up for this.
There does I think, need to be a trigger warning about domestic abuse. However in some ways that may spoil the book for some. The gaslighting is particularly well described and it may make some readers begin to look at their own relationships differently, which can only be a good thing.
An amazing debut novel and I look forward to reading more from this author.
With thanks to netgalley, the publishers and author for my ARC in return for my personal, honest review.

Two women, both on honeymoon, meet pool-side in a Bali hotel. They get chatting and end up with a dinner date for themselves and their respective husbands at the Blue Fin restaurant later that evening. It's the last night of the holidays for all of them, and it seems a nice idea to spend some time with like-minded people. But the evening ends on a sour note - more so for one of the couples who find themselves with a bit of a dilemma.
This book packs a shocking opening scenario, and with the chapters coming short and sharp throughout, the reader is bombarded with information and question marks about the respectability of all those involved. Emotional wedges are driven between Erin and James before they've even left the island, but why are Sophia and Mark so keen to keep in touch once they're back in the UK? None of the characters is at all likeable and you will switch allegiance multiple times along the way as information about the characters filters down the pages.
This would make a decent page-turner of a beach read (if ever we get a summer!) and I don't think you're likely to guess the conclusion of the story - I mean, it's not the biggest curveball ever, but it had sufficient intrigue as I didn't entirely work out where the story was heading.

The Honeymoon was a complete page turner full of twists and turns. It kept me gripped from beginning to end and I was highly satisfied with the ending.
Thank you to NetGalley and Welbeck Publishing UK for my ARC.

Fast-paced and twisty. I spent most of the book trying to work out who was lying, who was right, who was good, who was bad! I couldn't put it down.

Two couples, Sophia and Mark and Jamie and Erin, meet on honeymoon in Bali. Little do they know their lives will soon change forever.
The opening of the book is quite dramatic, with a man’s bloodied body lying at the bottom of steps on a beach. The story then goes back to the events leading up to that moment, and the aftermath. As a journalist, Sophia wants to find out what happened to the man on the beach. Jamie and Erin are reluctant to talk about that night.
I’m not sure I particularly liked any of the characters, I did warm to Sophia eventually. The characters were ok but I would have liked a little more depth to them.
I found the book an easy read with nice short chapters. Each chapter is from the perspective of one of the characters. I wanted to pick up and read the book whenever I had a spare moment.
The characters have secrets and these all come out in the end.
There are plenty of twists and turns in the book and I had no idea who to believe. I thought I had it worked out but it makes you question your theories.
Overall, I liked the book and it’s a good holiday read but maybe not if you’re on honeymoon. 😂 I will definitely look out for more from this author.
3.5 stars rounded to 4.

The Honeymoon gave me all the chills! It was meant to be the trip of a lifetime - an unforgettable honeymoon trip to stunning Bali. It turns out to be beautiful but deadly and certainly memorable. Two newlywed couples meet and share a wonderful evening celebrating at a picture-perfect cliffside restaurant. When an ominous thunderstorm strikes, the couples are separated, and the night comes to an abrupt end. It soon descends into a nightmare when a body is discovered and a murder investigation begins. It quickly appears that each of the foursome are harbouring secrets. It's a tense and thrilling read that keeps you guessing. #thehoneymoon #kategray #netgalley

If you are after a twisty thriller, go and get yourself a copy. This book had me hooked for the start and I just wasn’t prepared for where it was going to go. I literally would only guess after being given all of the clues!
With the body being found so early on in the book, I was so intrigued where this was going and I just loved it. I was second guessing who the “bad guy” was right until the end!

I started this in the afternoon and finished it at 1am;
i loved the characters and the way they were introduced in the story was something I loved.
They were beautifully drawn and easy to connect with which made the story more interesting.
i even went as far as trying to come up with the person whodunnit but as usual I was totally wrong.
The author really ramped up the tension and it was very atmospheric you could feel the heat and almost smell the food and the flowers.
I will definitely re read it at some point, it was that good
I cant wait for her next book
very highly recommended

The Honeymoon kept me intrigued from start to finish! A great thriller with twists and turns throughout. The story follows two couples after they meet on their honeymoons and a death occurs on the last night - was it an accident though? Everything is tied together brilliantly through the story. Would be a fantastic holiday read!

Wow! This was brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed this journey.
The story is told in dual narrative, between Sophia and Erin, two women who meet on the last day of their Honeymoon. On the last night Sophia and Erin with their respective husband's go out for a meal at an exclusive restaurant. Then something happens.
Back in the UK, Erin can't let what happened on that last day of holiday go. But neither can Sophia for entirely different reasons.
Couple of reflections:
The men in this are absolute trash.
Erin was a completely unreliable narrator from the word go. Or was she?
I couldn't see the twist coming at all throughout the book but it flew just on the right side of believable. Thoroughly brilliant thriller from Kate Gray. I look forward to more.

I raced through this fabulous thriller. I was quickly taken in by the plot and exotic setting of Bali.
It’s fast paced with plenty of twists and turns throughout. A great summer read and one that I’d definitely recommend.

2 honeymoon couples meet on holiday. Their meal at an exclusive restaurant is somewhat spoilt by the interruptions of a drunk expat who walks past their table, and whose drink is accidentally spilt by one of the women. The party splits up shortly after. By the end of the evening the expat is dead. The story continues in the UK as the two couples continue to interact and as the plot unfolds their various flaws and issues begin to revealed.
This was a great holiday read, fast paced, and kept me interested to the end. But what a cast of unpleasant characters. I can't say that I really warmed to any of them. There were elements which didn't feel entirely believable but nonetheless this is a solid 4 stars.

Full of twists and turns. For a story of two couples on honeymoon this turns into toxic relationships. Erin and Jamie meet Sophia and Mark on their last night in an idyllic honeymoon location. Before the night is over, a man is dead and Erin and Jamie were there. But are they responsible? Did anyone see them? Erin can't live with the guilt when they are back in the UK. Becoming friendly with Sophia and Mark means the incident remains in their minds, especially when journalist Sophia gets the bit between her teeth. But is there more to what's going on? Some shocking revelations and the way the book turned was not what I was expecting. #netgalley #thehoneymoon

Your honeymoon should be idyllic and it should be one of your best memories. It started off great for Erin and Jamie until the last night.
A spilled drink and a terrible accident will spoil anyone's honeymoon but was it an accident? They decide not to tell the police. Will they be able to carry on like normal and at what cost?
We also meet Sophia and Mark who are also on their honeymoon. Will they rue the day they met Erin and Jamie or do they also have something to hide?
What Erin and Jamie don't know is that Sophia is a journalist and she's like a dog with a bone; if she suspects something she will not let it go. Sophia has her own problems having lost her job because of evidence that she lost and she wants to prove herself.
This is a story about secrets and lies but whose secret is the biggest and who is lying to whom?
This twisty thriller will keep you up way past your bedtime!
Thank you to Netgalley and Welbeck Publishing UK for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

💖THE HONEYMOON💖
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is one of the best thrillers I've read in a looooooong time.
Jamie and Erin are in Bali on their honeymoon and end up at a dinner with Mark and Sophia, also on their honeymoon. On the last night there is a terrible storm and the following day, a man is found dead near the cliffs. A horrible accident right...?
I was hooked from the first chapter. It was the sort of read that made me feel uncomfortable and that something was off but I couldn't pin point what and I knew I had to find out. This book was fast paced and there were so many twists and turns I didn't see coming. There were lots of different angles to this story and I loved seeing how they all came together. I absolutely loved this read and am keeping my fingers crossed @kategray has more thrillers up her sleeves!
The Honeymoon is the perfect thriller for anytime, but definitely as a summer read. Perhaps on holiday? Just maybe not in Bali...
Thank you @netgalley for letting me read this thriller✨

This really is a fabulous book. I managed to read it in just a couple of days. The story begins in Bali - a chance meeting between two women both on honeymoon. On the final night, a man dies/is killed. The story follows both couples back to the UK. The twists and turns left me puzzled until the very end, but the way everything tied together at the end is just brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend.

Well that didn't take me long at all to read, a real twisty turny thriller, a great story that kept me intruiged until the very end
