This is a well written light thriller and would be great for a holiday read. I found the main character slightly annoying and unbelievable which made it less enjoyable to read. The other characters however build well and develop into interesting storylines.

Lots of twists and turns in this thriller! I was slightly disappointed that everyone was back from honeymoon after only 20% of the book but there was a good plot.

Interesting premise and lots of twists and turns - but in the end it was just too many twists! Too many flawed characters with hidden motives - too unbelievable.

The Honeymoon is a psychological thriller about two couples who meet in Bali on their honeymoons - Mark & Sophia and Jamie & Erin. They all seem normal at the beginning but then something awful happens on their last night in Bali and it changes all their lives. When they all arrive back in England, it seems like things will never return to normal for either couple and things just seem to keep happening to them all - what secrets does each of them hide?
Sophia is a journalist who was let go from her job at the Sunday News for failing to come through with a breakthrough story about a prominent Tory MP and she takes a job at a local paper, which she feels is beneath her. But then she hears about a mysterious death in Bali and realises it happened near where they were staying so she starts to look into the story further. This leads her down a rabbit hole of twisted stories and lies from all those around her.
It's told from a dual POV - Erin and Sophia but at the end we get a couple of chapters from Jamie and Mark which ties everything up nicely and answers any lingering questions.
I am still recovering from the twists and turns this book took! In the beginning I wasn't too sure where the story was headed but by midway through I was completely hooked and I just had to finish it. I was also sure I knew what was going on but apparently I didn't! This book really kept me guessing and doubting myself the whole way along. The writing was excellent, and the dual POV was a great way to read the story and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a psychological thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

This book started off slowly and I must admit to finding it a bit confusing. An OK read but not one that stands out for me
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

This book was difficult for me, I had to force myself to pick it up and try to read it. I actually didn’t finish it. Unfortunately I wasn’t invested in the characters or the story from the beginning.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC copy in return for an honest review 🖤

This book was structured in a different way to most of those that I have read recently. After the shocking events of the first few chapters, I wasn't sure where the book would go.
I spent the middle part of the book as a confused mess! I couldn't figure out who I thought was good and who I thought was bad. It was great, really kept me on my toes.
At times I found the main character a little frustrating, but this was intentional (I felt) and added to the story overall.
This book was twisty, dramatic and intense and I really enjoyed the ending.
Thank you so much to Kate Gray, NetGalley and Welbeck Publishing UK for this ARC!

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
This is my first title by this author and will read more in the future.
This book is full of twists and turns that you don't see coming, you think you have it figured out, but you are wrong.
Will recommend this to anyone looking for a thriller.

4/5 stars

Felt this one had a slowish start and then boom! thrown right in with the deceit and not knowing who can be trusted within this small cast of characters.. Even right until the end you're not entirely sure who you can trust and whose leading who astray - perfect holiday reading (maybe not on your honeymoon, though!)

A gripping read from start to finish. Two couples on their honeymoon in Bali enjoying their last meal together before flying home the next day. An incident in the restaurant leads to an altercation bringing the evening to an abrupt end. When a mans body is found the following day there are obviously questions. Was it an accident or was it murder?
Arriving back at their homes the foursome are individually on edge, lies and secrets start to be revealed. Only just married do they really know their partners?
I find it hard to believe that this is Kate Gray's debut novel. It is brilliant. The plot, that charcaters, twists and turns, so cleverly written. I am looking forward to more by this ingenious author.

I went round the houses with this one - I wanted to know how it would all end but did get frustrated with the characters which was perhaps the point.
The book showed how circumstances can dictate how your life will be and random meetings can often be the thing which saves us and brings us hope when it all looks bleak.

I really enjoyed this one kept my interest all through the book lots of twists that kept me whizzing through it eager to know what was going to happen next my first book by this author but will be checking out if she has other books published

Great book! A great story and a setting that I've been lucky enough to visit.
Lots of suspende and an excellent ending.
5 stars from me

Such a perfect pick for a holiday read! Full of twists up to the very last chapter! Would highly recommend reading this one if you’re a thriller fan.

I loved, loved, loved this book. Just when you think you have it all worked out, along comes another plot twist. A definite recommendation from me.

This is my first read by author Kate Gray and I really enjoyed The Honeymoon.
In this novel, we meet two couples, Mark and Sophia, Jamie and Erin, who are newly married and in beautiful Bali for their romantic honeymoon, the couples really click and become friends.
Unfortunately this will not be a straightforward happy honeymoon for the couples as there is a death on the last night of their holiday whilst they are out together as a foursome
I enjoyed reading about Sophia and Erin's perspective and found them to be both likeable characters. On the return back home is really where we learn about what really happened in Bali and the secrets that these couples keep.
A really good and intense beach read and I loved the descriptions that Kate Gray portrays in the novel.
Thanks to Kate Gray, Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This book was amazing so many twists and turns, just when you think you know who did it the book still does a 360 and goes down a different path. Can’t wait to read more from Kate

Let me preface this by saying: I tried to begin this book when I was in denial of being in a slump. I did find this to be a slow burn, and it took a bit to get into the juicy stuff. However, Kate has written a great thriller here, especially with it being her first one. I was back and forth in my guesses as to what was happening until the very last pages (and that’s a big compliment from me as I normally guess them straight away!)
If you’re looking for a tropical, twisty thriller - then this is your next read!

"We could only save ourselves, by getting back to England and carrying on as normal, as it nothing terrible and tragic happened on the last night of our idyllic honeymoon."
Two couples' honeymoons in Bali become deadly after another guest is found dead. Told primarily from the perspectives of the two new wives, very different women (Erin and Sophia) the narrative drip-feeds the suggestions of difficulties and secrets in their past. Back home in and near London, neither can escape the events of their honeymoons nor their troubles. Fast-paced and tense, the likeable protagonists and suggestion of secrets, as well as wanting to understand who killed the man in their honeymoons, had me hooked.
As the plot progressed and more and more started to go wrong, it became clear that more was wrong that the death in Bali. I began to suspect that some of the characters and narratives were unreliable, making all the main characters potential suspects. Twists, turns, red herrings and revenge make this a real page-turner.

I'm new to Kate Gray so wasn't sure what to expect of this domestic thriller. Safe to say, I was hooked. Nothing is what it seems when it comes to the main characters in this novel - two newly-married couples who meet on honeymoon in an exotic location where something bad happens. Back home, in a more domestic setting and in the cold light of day, the mystery continues, with a real sense of impending doom. I thought I knew what the outcome would be but was lulled into a false sense of security and was taken aback by the twists.
A real page turner, with gripping (and short) chapters - a perfect summer read. Would recommend to lovers of this genre. Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy of this novel.
