Two couples Erin and Jamie and Sophia and Mark are both on their honeymoon in Bali. When Erin meets Sophia and invites her and Mark to attend dinner with her and Jamie that night, she is hopeful this could be the start of a budding friendship. That evening a man dies, both couples return home and things begin to take a weird turn. Erin and Jamie were the last two people to see that man alive.
Generally I enjoyed this book, I found the start very slow to start and the pace felt off, It was hard not to wonder how this was going to develop into anything when at first it seemed like it would portray Erin and how the end of the honeymoon has been impacted her character. It wasn’t until around 50/60% that things started to become more interesting. There were many twists and turns in the book and I thought the way the book tied to an end was quite clever.
Two couples meet on the last night of their respective honeymoons in Bali. There is a bad storm and a dodgy expat ends up dead. When they return to England their lives change as they become embroiled in a tangled web of murder, mystery and deceit. Intriguing plot with several flawed and unreliable narrators. This book keeps you guessing and has plenty of twists, secrets, lies, revenge and extreme gaslighting. Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK.
Two couples meet on the last day of their honeymoon. They decide to dine together that night. At the end of the evening there is an altercation with another man in the restaurant.and from there the plot builds. One couple could be responsible for a mans death but is there more to it? Both couples have their secrets.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book and the unfolding of the drama. There were twists that I didn't see coming and it was overall a very enjoyable read. It had me gripped right from the start.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. This was an okay read, with an okay storyline and okay characters - thats all I can say really.
A superb story full of an amazing number of twists. In some ways it felt slightly slower than I expected at the start but that could be because the rest of the book was so full on and basically unputdownable.
I loved it. This is the first book that I have read by this very talented author and I shall certainly look out for more now.
This was a very good read, it has plenty of twists and turns throughout.. with a brilliant unexpected ending. The characters were great, the story itself was a little slow to start off with, then as it picked up it was very enjoyable. The writing was perfect. This is the first book that I have read by this author, I’ll be keeping my eye out in the future for more. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading this genre.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.

It was a fast paced and kept me guessing throughout a perfect book for psychological thrillers fans alike, from the very first page I drawn and couldn’t put the book down it was so good I read it in a day! The characters were likeable also.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed this book and all the plot twists that it presented!
A gripping read with a lot of twists and turns. Great characters. Keeps you wanting to turn the page.
This was a gripping thriller.
I enjoyed reading this thriller of a book and I liked that each chapter was a different POV.
There was lots of twists and turns trying to guess who the guilty party is was difficult as there was so many misleading trails to follow.
I did guess the main one through all of there gaslighting and devious doings, but then comes another twist that completely through me.
I look forward to reading this author again.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book follows the lives of two couples who meet on their honeymoon. There are plenty of twists and turns in this book, with a plot twist I never saw coming. There were times when I wondered how everything was going to fit together, but it all comes together in the end.
An enjoyable read and look forward to reading more books by this author
Excellent story. Lots of action and twists and turns. Well worth reading
Looking forward to more from Kate Gray
Many thanks to the author and publisher for the ARC and opportunity to enjoy this wonderful book
This book kept me guessing. It started quite tamely, then one action started a whole chain of events. At times I got confused over who was responsible for each thing, with twists being added to the mix, until things got clearer nearer the end. I was surprised by the ending
Wow, what an absolute roller coaster of a ride! The Honeymoon by Kate Gray has it all, twist after twist after twist.
I normally find it very easy to deduce "whodunit", but not this time, Kate kept me guessing right up to the end.
A gripping story that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Well written, with characters that emotionally hooked me, and had me wanting to believe in their innocence.
A gem of a book, highly recommended for anyone who considers themselves an amateur sleuth, or indeed just fancies a jolly good read.
Thank you to Kate Gray and the publisher @welbeckpublish for letting me read and review this amazing thriller! Short snappy chapters and an intriguing storyline leave you wanting more as you delve in to find the truth. I didn’t know who to trust right up until the last page! An amazing holiday read which comes out on the 20th July 2023. I urge you to preorder now! I’m off to buy anything else written by Kate Gray!
This is an excellent thriller. There are so many twists and turns keeping you guessing right up until the last chapter. I could not put the book down and I kept having to remind myself to breath such is the suspense created by the author. The book starts in Bali where two honeymoon couples meet and have dinner together. That same night, there is a murder. The dead man was also in the restaurant. The couples return home but their lives have changed for ever. The story is mostly told from the point of view of the two female characters one of whom is a journalist who is determined to find out more about how the dead man died… Thank you Netgalley for giving me an advanced copy of this book. It will be very well received by those who love suspense!
I gave this book 3.5 stars meaning I am on the fence about actively recommending it, but would love to chat with someone about it.
One quick point I need to make - bribery and blackmail are not the same thing. In this case I would have thought George's behaviour was blackmail.
This book focuses on two couples that got married on the same day and go to the same hotel on their honeymoons. The women befriend each other by the pool and they all go for dinner on their last night together. That night, a massive storm hits and the next day the couples go home.
There is addiction, manipulation, violence, lies and lots more. I liked this book, I was engrossed. I did partially figure out the twist at the end which doesn't bother me, it makes me feel like I solved a puzzle,
A thriller told from many different viewpoints twisting and turning until the end.
Two couple who meet on the last day of their honeymoon and a dead man.
The tale is a bit confusing at many points but worth sticking with.
I enjoyed it and would recommend
A very twisty thriller - I really didn't figure out the full truth until right at the end.
Two couples meet on holiday, both on honeymoon, and end up chatting and sharing a table at an exclusive restaurant on their last night in Bali. Whilst there a big storm occurs. Then the couples fly home, but shortly afterwards hear that someone died on the night they were all together at the restaurant - and all/some of the couples know about this because they were there.
The rest of the story flips back and forth between each character and really I'd trust none of them to be telling the truth!
I enjoyed the suspense part of it, as I really couldn't figure out what was going on until the end as it twisted so much, but equally I didn't really like the main characters which put me off a bit. By the book cover and blurb I expected it to be mainly set in Bali, but it was mainly set in England when they go back home.
I enjoyed parts of it, and others not so much. But a good read nonetheless, and I definitely had to finish it to find out what really happened.
Firstly, hello Kate Gray, we’ve been waiting for this! Ever since Katy/Kate announced that she would be releasing her debut thriller I have been (patiently) waiting. And it’s almost here! I was absolutely honoured to get an advanced copy – huge thanks to the publisher for that. You’ll want to clear your schedule for this one because it’s not a book you can tear yourself away from…
This is a fast-paced and twisted thriller, it’s intricate, the characters are flawed and deceiving, and the storyline is just perfect. It’s everything I expected, hoped for, and more. I love love love multiple point of view books, when they’re done well. I want to see, feel and read the difference between the main characters narration and emotions. I got that from the very first chapters of this book – Kate brought these characters to life amidst a background full of suspense and intrigue.
Although I adore Katy Colins contemporary fiction, I am firmly planting myself in the Kate Gray camp and demanding more please of this genre from her!
This is a really top rate read! Two couples on honeymoon in Bali agree to meet for their last night dinner in a cliffside restaurant. Sophia and Mark meeting Erin and Jamie begins a story where you are desperate to get to the end! Both have plenty to hide particularly after what happens nearby after the meal ends. That will haunt them for ever. The story keeps revealing something new about both couples and makes keeping reading to the end a must. To say any more here would risk spoiling the anticipation. This may be basically a murder story but it becomes a great deal more than that. It is a clever idea for a story and is very well written with bellevable characters. I strongly recommend it.
