I don't normally read spy thrillers but this appealed to me and I was delighted to be approved to read it. It turned out to be very serendipitous as it starts off in Nice and I started reading it on the plane to Nice. Thank goodness my holiday there was nothing like the heroine's experience in this book. Though she of course, was working,

Emma Makepiece works for MI6. She is asked to go onboard a Russian oligarch's yacht to try to find out who is behind the selling of chemical weapons. But someone in MI6 is working against her. Can she uncover them before she is snuffed out.

I enjoyed this a lot. It was great having a female spy as the main character and Emma, although Russian by birth is a determined and fearless spy. The characters are good too especially the Russian oligarch and his horrible bodyguard. With plush settings onboard an amazing yacht, this is an ideal holiday read, Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin for the ARC.

I loved the first Ava Glass book about Alex/Emma and this one is even better. The Agency send Emma undercover as a stewardess on a Russian oligarch's yacht. It becomes apparent that there is a leak at the Agency and she is in danger. She tries to complete the mission and find the traitor. It's so fast moving and exciting, I read the whole book in an afternoon.

Thank you Netgalley, publisher and the Author Ava Glass for the opportunity to read the nearly out in hardback and e format The Tailor; crime and thrillers are may fav genre so in for pound I thought I would ask to review it. The writing style is easy to read which best suits Sunday afternoon or bus ride to work. This is book two and likely a further number in a series portraying a young MI6 operative who seeks to root out those who would do wrong to the UK and its interest. I found it a difficult one to rate as on the scale of John Le Carre as a 10 for hot spy (the greatest espionage novel perhaps, well written, deep thriller) vs The Traitor (surface read, easy to understand, quick thriller ) both have their followers and who am I to belittle The Traitor at the opposite end to Tinker Tailor etc; the Traitor was a biscuit and cup of tea compared to neat whiskey for Carre., one cannot compare the two as both in different leagues and aimed at different audiences. And I don't feel that you have to wait to read book 2 if you havnt read book 1, give it a try.
If you prefer a soft story approach to your spies with a sprinkle of romance then this is your cuppa.

I started reading this on the train to work, I was only going 3 stops and I thought, probably not enough time to get into this book properly... I nearly missed my stop I was so engrossed!

Such a high octane plot. There has been lots of discussion recently about the new Bond being female. I disagree with that because Fleming created Bond as male, my argument has always been, we don't need a female Bond, we need a new female kick ass character who creates her own adventures.

In Emma Makepeace we have that character. I love how men underestimate and she constantly outsmarts them. She's a great character who had me holding my breath so many times as she tried to uncover what some Russian Oligarchs were up to and uncover the third man in their dastardly plot.

I don't know if I have my own spy talents, but from the moment I met a certain character my spidey senses tingled and I didn't trust them, turns out my gut instinct was right, I had that character pegged!

Flew through this book, brilliant read.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion

Loved the fast pace of this thriller involving the Spy Emma Makepeace. Lots of drama and twists and turns when she goes undercover to find the killer and the traitor.

I loved this authors’ style of writing. She painted the picture of scenery and the on edge feeling when you wondered what was going to happen next. It kept you guessing till the very last page.

My only disappointment was that this is the second novel in the Alias Emma series which means I haven’t discovered this author sooner. And now I need to go back and read the first novel.

A great read!
