This was a dull read. Really had to push to finish it. It was a book not telling a story really, just about a life. Didn't enjoy.

The novel itself is about a young immigrant white girl who is prostituted by her own mother. She later flees from an abusive husband and gets caught up in the decimation of Indian tribes by white settlers and troops in the mid-19th century. This should have made for an exciting, heartbreaking and educational story but the writing is just so incredibly flat and expository that I found it very dull.
