Having read the previous books in the series featuring Lizbeth Rose I was looking forward to this latest book in the series
This book features and is told from the POV of Lizbeth Rose's half sister , Felicia who is boarding at the "Grigori" school . After being treated as a non-entity for years we see her learning to use her magical powers - just how powerful van she become ? Once her powers are recognised she comes under attack from all corners will she have the courage to survive ?
This is a fast paced book with plenty of twists and turns , with complex well written characters . I will say that I was not quite as sure of the writing direction in this book as I was in the previous books in the series but , that being said it was an enjoyable read

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

When I requested this book I didn’t know it was part of a series that had already started but having read many books from
this author before I did continue to read it.
I really enjoy this authors writing style and found it easy to follow along with.
This book follows the story in the perspective of Felicia who is Lizbeth Rose’s half-sister. I found Felicia to be an interesting and really well developed character. I did struggle at first to understand the magic system but once I understood it was very interesting. Felicia is in boarding school for ‘Grigori’ because she has magical powers. We see her learning to use her magical abilities and her learning just how powerful she can become. The plot had a good steady pace which had plenty of action throughout.

I will definitely go back and read the first three books in this series to see what I have missed. I do feel after reading this one that it could easily be read as a standalone.

Thank you to Netgalley, Publisher and the author for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I read the first two instalments in this series and I was a bit on the fence. Thought this one was a new series and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Plenty of twists, an alternate history world, well plotted characters.
I think I will read the next in this series
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

First up, I've not read the first 3 books in this series, I didn't know Charlaine Harris had a new series, I wasn't watching closely enough having enjoyed her books previously.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, enough of the changed history of this world was explained to me that I didn't really feel like I was missing anything not having read the previous books. The characters were interesting and the settings were vivid, the plot points made for a great story which held my interest right to the end!

As with the other books I have read by this author, I was caught up in the story within the first few pages. Picking up this book was like a welcome home hug, the writing style was so familiar and welcoming to me as a reader, asking me to dive in and enjoy the ride.

This is a four-star read that is also forth in the series. I started this one and didn’t realise it was number four in the series, then I did, so listened to the first three stories and then read this one, so I don’t know if it was too much and the different format meant I didn’t enjoy it as much, but honestly this one didn’t have the same kick. It was still very good, and I liked that we get to know Libeth and Eli better, as we know them a little but now we know them on a deeper level. I don’t know if you could read this as a stand-alone, as it has different main characters, if I am being honest I would say go back and start from the beginning, as you get the full interesting story then, and wouldn’t feel like you are missing anything.
