ARC from Netgalley.
The Seven Wonders of The Self is a fantastic book to pick up when you need a bit of selfcare or a different perspective on life and situations. It is very insightful and highly recommend if you want to learn about energy and meditation with easy to understand context. It doesn't claim to be scientific and certainly doesn't read like it
I will say the the author comes off a bit more woo woo than I am typically comfortable with, that said, there is a lot of good advice and suggestions for people who wish to have a deeper sense of meaning and are seeking truth within.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. I believe in mindfulness and understand that we create our own destiny. I believe in the power of positive energy and love. I don’t believe, however, that science and modern medicine should be tossed aside. This book gives me the energy that so many Instagram influencers do… this toxic positivity that tells us that if we become ill or fall into misfortune it’s because our attitude was wrong or we didn’t manifest enough joy or health. When people start comparing their “vibrations “ to others I am immediately suspicious because there’s a 50% chance that the conversation is going to lead to conspiracy theory. Our bodies are wonders and energy healing is real and glorious. But I can’t get behind the authors message.
