The book works as a standalone but also as part of the series. I enjoyed it a a lot, and can see how the next book is going to be good too! It was a good book to read and get lost in!
I really enjoyed this book, I think more than when in Rome looking back on it. I would give it a 3.75. The book works as a stand-alone because of the recap of characters at the start, but I read this straight after finishing the first book. I think if it had been a little while or if I hadn’t read the first book I wouldn’t have found it as annoying. However, I really love the characters in this and I’m glad I got to see more about Anna as she took my interest in the first book. I like that there were aspects of found family for Will, but mostly I really loved Will and Anna’s relationship. I loved their banter and it made me laugh when she called him different names, and her versions of swearing which I have added to my favourite quotes. I loved to still see the relationship with Amelia and Noah progress, and the sisters, but I also like that this book was about Anna finding herself as a person, it didn’t just focus on the romance but on her development too.
I like that the book is set up already for another relationship with James and one of the other sisters and I definitely will read that book when it comes out. I also like the setting of this book, still in the town with the familiar areas but also the flower shop itself. I now want to get an open book tattoo!
Incredibly cute and hot, despite being a mainly closed door romance.
A flower shop owner fake dating a body guard?!
This was an awkward, embarrassing, sweet slow burn full of heart.
Will and Annie were healthy and mature characters and I really loved seeing the clear communication and honesty.
I loved it! 💛

Having read the first book in this series and enjoying it, I was excited to see what the follow up would be like.
While it can be read as a stand alone story, it does make a bit more sense if you've read When In Rome first.
I did prefer the first book and was a little bit surprised that this almost read like a YA romance instead of an adult one.
For some reason the female lead acts and feels like she's in her mid-teens, instead of her actual age.
And even though I did like returning to Rome, it felt a bit repetitive in parts.
However, I look forward to seeing what Sarah Adams does next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book follows Annie and Will and is a sequel to “When In Rome” this book can be read alone but I believe makes more sense when read as the duo.
This book did kinda put me in a slump though, I found it difficult to read and was not that excited to pick it up. I’m glad I read it though as it was cute and wholesome but I think maybe I was a little out of the age range for the book. I’d say this book would suit someone more of the ages of 15-18.
Just like all Sarah Adams books, another knock out of the park. Continually I am impressed with the world these characters are living in. The whole 'opposites attract' was a big draw for me in this book. It may be closed door but the tension... 5 STARS!
This was a sweet read. Annie’s not having much luck dating so ropes bodyguard Will in to help her practice. It goes exactly as you’d expect (and exactly how you want it to). The only downside is I read this book first. There’s another book in the series and I did feel like I was missing something. It’s not huge but they do reference the characters in the first book enough to make me consider switching to When In Rome first. But that’s a me-problem and not a book problem. I would recommend reading the series in order but I do recommend reading the series!
I loved the first in this series. This was even better. The characters were relatable and lovable. Rome, the small town of the series is a confórmale and cosy place.
This was a lovely book, it was a perfect swoon worthy romance with a hot MMC and a lovely FMC. It was my first Sarah Adams book and I’ll definitely pick up more for sure.
The playful interactions were great between the characters and added a few giggles into the romance which was nice. Just an overall enjoyable easy read!
I really love this series from Sarah Adams, I definitely loved the first book a lot more than this one but this was still really cute and I think if I’d skipped it I would have felt like I’d missed a part of the overall story.
There is something about this series set in this little small town that really gives me such strong Gilmore Girls vibes and I think that’s why even though this story didn’t work as well for me as the first, that I still enjoyed it because of the vibes!
If your looking for something super cute and sweet then this is for you!
From the blurb-
Florist Annie Walker is determined to find someone who complements her life. But after overhearing her latest date describe her as 'so unbelievably boring', Annie wonders if the problem might be her. Is it too late to become flirtatious and fun like the leading ladies in her favourite romance movies? Maybe she only needs some practice . . . and Annie has the perfect tutor in mind.
Sexy and tattooed Will Griffin is temporarily back in Rome, Kentucky, providing security for pop-star Amelia Rose in the build-up to her wedding to Annie's brother. He also has his own agenda: stay away from Annie Walker and any attachments to this sleepy town, which becomes difficult when she enlists him to help fix her love life.
Amid steamy practice dates and strictly 'educational' tutoring lessons, the lines of their friendship blur and Annie reconsiders what her 'dream guy' might look like. Maybe her love life doesn't need to be perfect - it just needs to be real.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher, via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
Annie Walker has always been the quiet sister, the one who everyone in town trusts, and has never stepped a foot out of line. However, her friends and family don't know how much she longs for romance, and when she overhears her bling date calling her boring, and trying to get himself out of the date, Annie knows she needs help. Who better to help her than Will Griffin, the tattooed bodyguard who Annie has had more than a few dreams about, and who is in town just for Amelia and Noah's wedding. Will would rather eat his arm than settle down, and he can't wait to escape Rome, Kentucky, for a new career in the big city. Definitely not someone who Annie could fall for, or who would find himself considering a quiet life with a beautiful florist, right?
I felt a sort of kinship with Annie during When in Rome, and that was definitely true in this book too. As the younger Walker sibling, she had always had her brother and sisters as her champions, and losing her parents so young, she barely remembers them. The entire town see her as angelic, someone who could never put a foot out of line, and that has been true for so long. She's someone who will never rock the boat, or really do anything for herself, if it may impact on others. She's even running the local flower shop, as her mother was a lover of flowers, though it's not even her dream really. Being on the date where everything goes wrong, and she needs to be somewhat rescued by Will, causes her to decide that enough is enough, and she needs to take a hold of her life, before it's too late. As someone who loves romance books so much, she should've seen the fact that she and Will were bound to fall for one another, but the process of it all was a hoot. Will was such a grump, though with Annie he bolstered her, and empowered her to take action, and grab what she wanted. The fact that he even read her romance books to understand her more, and see what she cared about, was perfection. The pair had some real heartfelt moments together, and their romance was as powerful as Noah and Amelia's! I hope there's more in this series, as I need the other Walker siblings to find their happiness too.
I rarely have beef with authors, but when I do, it’s personal. DNFed at 11% percent, but no amount of romance or good dick is worth whatever it is this book tried to put me—and its female characters—through.
First of all, for all that Annie tries to be a girl’s girl, she is very much a “she’s not like the other girls” type of character. Which is off-putting, but workable. But the biggest perpetrator is the side character, Rae Rose, a superstar singer. Who was done a grievous disservice by the story. RAE ROSE IS A POP STAR, BUT SHE MOVES IN TO LIVE WITH HER BOYFRIEND IN A MIDDLE OF NOWHERE?????? I’m sorry, that man is packing bags and going with HER. She’s a ✨Barbie✨ and he’s just a Ken. Ain’t no way whatever he has going on in his small town life is in more important. True love or no, girlie is worth more than Kentucky. *shudders*
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC copy of this book, in exchange for this honest review.
What a sweet, cosy, heartwarming romance! This book took me back to the feeling of first love and watching Gilmore Girls as a teenager. Loved it!
Told through a dual POV structure, this is the love story of Annie and Will. Will is a famous bodyguard made for the big city and wild non-committed relationships, whereas Annie is the small-town-girl florist who has little to no experience in romance. Whoever said opposites attract was not wrong when it comes to these two characters!
The book opens with a disastrous first date for Annie: her date leaves in a rush, completely put off by her analysis of flower biology. It just so happens that Will, Annie's best friend's bodyguard, is there to save the day and give her date a lesson, forcing him to pay before shooting off. Annie absolutely has a secret crush on Will. And Will most definitely has a secret crush on Annie. They can't stop thinking about each other after that first inciting incident. But they are also friends and know they are complete opposites and couldn't want more different lives, so when Annie's best friend suggests Will becomes Annie's dating coach, a safe deal is made.
As their relationship develops, Annie realises she's more than the goody two shoes she's always set herself to be, and Will begins to reflect on what he really wants from life. Both characters grow as their relationship blossoms and learn from each other. The tension between them is also so entertaining, making this the perfect steamy happy ending romance for those who don't really want to read spice.
A great holiday read, I truly enjoyed reading this on my honeymoon! Thank you Sarah, the publisher, and Netgalley.
A completely forgettable romance with zero chemistry!
Practice Makes Perfect (the sequel to When In Rome), follows Annie on her quest for love. When Will Griffin (bodyguard and dating extraordinaire) agrees to coach Annie in dating, she reluctantly agrees. Soon enough the lines of friendship blur and a romance blossoms between Annie and Will.
My main gripe with this book is that although Annie is in her 30s, she reads like a 14 year old protagonist. This makes for a pretty frustrating read. It also makes the romance seem rather inappropriate at times considering how much older Will comes across.
Ultimately, this was a completely forgettable romance.
Love a small town setting. Preferred it way more to the cheat sheet. Nosy neighbours and very steamy. Also hats off to the designer of the front over as its beautiful
I loved When in Rome so I was keen to read this new book by Sarah Adams, especially as this book is also set in Rome, Kentucky with its cast of sweet, eccentric small town characters. I liked the dual POV, slow burn tension, fake dating aspect and the sweet-innocent/grumpy-bad boy main characters. This book was cute and funny, however, it needed a little more spice for me to love it.
I loved Annie and Will, the story was great and it was very romantic and steamy! Exactly what you want from a book like this.
I really enjoyed this book - the two POV characters had very distinct voices and I enjoyed how they grew over the course of the story. I also enjoyed the small town setting - much as I hate busybody neighbours in real life, they're always hilarious in books.
"I swear the sunlight hits this woman differently than other people. It seeps into her skin, makes her glow."
3.5 stars!
Dual POV included and the miscommunication trope nowhere to be seen!
I enjoyed how this romance saw a healthy level of communication between the fmc and mmc. I appreciated that the dialogue and scenes shared between them flowed nicely and there was no forced connection between them.
I did initially become hesitant of the story, with the fmc just too self-depreciating and small remarks singling herself apart from 'pretty girls', but I was pleasantly surprised that this trait was quickly removed. The mmc met many standards of being a romantic lead, and it was enjoyable to read his POV chapters.
Overall, a good romantic story. Perfect for those looking for healthy communication, fake dating and low spice levels.
Thank you to Netgalley and Headline for the eARC, I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Annie runs a flower shop in a small town and she wants to find her perfect match. She wants to become more like the heroines in her favourite romance films and she decides to ask Will to teach her. Will doesn't want to change Annie but he can't say no to her request.
I really enjoyed this one. There was an instant chemistry between Annie and Will. I really enjoyed their interactions. I did find that in places the story dragged a little which is why I gave this 4 stars rather than 5.
