Sweet Annie Walker is the towns florist and she is determined to find someone who compliments her life, she just needs some practice. Annie has the perfect tutor in mind, cue sexy and tattooed bodyguard Will Griffin, who is temporarily back in Rome providing security for Annie’s brothers wedding. But Annie’s the sweet ‘good girl’ who just wants to find the love of her life, settle down get married and have kids, and Will’s a bad boy who doesn’t do relationships. This ‘practice dating’ surely won’t end well, or is it true what they say ‘opposites attract’? ⁣

What can I say….. I absolutely loved this adorable small town romance. I was there for all the romance tropes….. sweet girl meets bad boy, friends to lovers, fake dating, small town, slow burn, bodyguard romance.

I fell in love with Annie and Will, both such sweet and loveable characters, they were just adorable⁣ together. ⁣

A beautifully written, hopeful and heartwarming romance. I really fell a little bit in love with Will myself. Who wouldn’t want a big tattooed bodyguard who will come over in the middle of the night when you’ve text him to say you can’t sleep, climbs up the drainpipe, through your bedroom windows and cuddles you all night!

Sarah Adams is definitely a favourite auto buy author of mine and I will definitely be reading anything and everything that she writes. There’s going to be a part three in the ‘Rome’ series and I cannot wait!!!

This is my first book by Sarah Adams and I thought it was a cute read, perfect for those looking to start reading romance or those who don’t like romance books with a high spice level.

The story follows Annie and Will. Annie is an introverted, romance book obsessed, flower shop owner who ends up enlisting her sister-in-laws bodyguard, Will, to help her get better at dating after she hears her date call her dull and boring. She’s used to being the town saint but she’s over it now.

Will, is seen as the ‘bad-boy’, thanks to his tattoos and job title, he’s never believed in relationships and never wants to get married after witnessing his parents failed marriage growing up.

Will and Annie form an unlikely friendship as Will helps her get more comfortable with dating, and to the town he might seem like a bad boy, but to Annie, he’s super gentle and just wants to see her succeed and live the life she truly wants, not the one people think she wants.

I really liked seeing Annie’s growth throughout the story and how Will fell for her despite what he thought he wanted in life. This was a cute story and the perfect choice if you’re looking for a sweet romance.

I enjoyed joyed this book, but admittedly enjoyed The Cheat Sheet more. That being said Practice Makes Perfect was a quick, fun and easy read and I loved the not-quite-friends to lovers dynamic and Annie? Ahh loved her!

To everyone in Rome Kentucky Annie is an angel, a saint, a real town favourite. She’s determined to find her soulmate, the love of her life who she can marry but after a disastrous date with the local bank teller her confidence is at an all time low and she’s starting to think she is the problem. Enter Will, tattooed bad boy bodyguard, back in town to work for her future sister in law. After a little meddling by said sister in law Amelia, Will becomes Annie’s practice person, her dating coach, a way to help her prepare for any and all future dates… nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?

First of all, can we a little commotion for the cover?! This is probably my favourite cartoon cover of the year so far, it is perfection!

This was such a cute book, I loved Annie and Will and their banter and flirting. The side characters amused me, particularly Mabel and Harriet and their constant bickering. The town/towns people reminded me a lot of Gilmore Girls, especially when the petition came out.
The writing flowed well and it was a quick easy read. I have When in Rome sitting on my TBR shelf so I’m looking forward to reading it and being back in the town.

Read if you like-
• grumpy/sunshine (kind of, she was the epitome of sunshine and he was just a little grumpy)
• fake dating/ dating coach
• good girl Vs bad boy
• he looks after her when she’s sick
• bodyguard
• small town romance

Ok, I loved this book. Was it is high quality literature? No. But it was the cutest thing ever. The MC was the sweetest thing and the romance was as believable as it can be in a romance like this. If there was one issue, I found the issue with the MC going to therapy important to the plot that was not explored enough and also, the plot of the MC not wanting to fall in love was solved too easily.

I was so excited to read this one! No matter the book I always preorder Sarah's books. This one hit the nail on the head and I absolutely adored it!

Annie is the picture perfect, good-girl next door. But she's been so concerned about being good, that she's afraid she's become boring and sets out to learn the basics of seduction. And who better to teach her than her friends former bodyguard, internet hottie and all around gruff bad-boy, Will.

Will is the ex-military, tattooed, bada$$ bodyguard. He's the love 'em and leave 'em type. But there is something about Annie that draws him in. So much so he agrees to her mad plan, he's sure that there is no way his relationship-averse self will ever catch feelings! Famous last words!!

These two are adorable. They each have boundaries they won't cross as they don't want to hurt the other. Annie's naivety breaks Will's defences though. Will is perfect in that he didn't want Annie to change a thing about herself, just be more confident in herself. Will is a man who understands that communication is key! He's a cinnamon roll with a bada$$ alpha shell!

There are laughs, tears and giggles to be had in this story. The townsfolk are a scream and I loved one particular town meeting scene at the end! And when Annie finally broke her shell and let all her annoyances at her siblings, the town, and even herself, out brought a tear to my eye.

Annie and Will were so adorable. It was cuteness overload and just what I need to read at this time. Also a bodyguard and floweshop owner romance, I was hooked from the start and was rooting for these two.

Annie is a florist, who believes in romance, but when a string of bad dates leaves her thinking it might be her and not them, she gets help from a tutor to give her practice, but it may be more than what she asked for.

I love this author! They are one of my go-to reads. We are back in Rome, Kentucky and even hear back from some of our previous characters, it was brilliant to revisit these characters.

These characters are first seen as complete opposites but Adams gives us characters with hidden qualities and a lot in common, this novel has humour which will have you laughing out loud in places and swooning over the characters in others. Another fantastic book by this author and another I recommend.

Although this novel follows on from the previous novel this can still be read as a standalone.

Small town romances written by Sarah Adams will always have my heart and this was no exception. (Release date: TODAY! 2/5/23!!)

Thank you to the publisher headline / headline eternal and NetGalley for gifting me an arc copy in exchange for an honest review!

This book had some of my favourite tropes of all time, bad boy x good girl, grumpy x sunshine and fake dating! It was an absolute hoot from the beginning and had me laughing out loud so many times, the humour and banter in the books written by Sarah Adams is honestly unmatched.

Annie and Will are opposites, or at least at first you’d think so, but as they warm up to each other you start to see just how similar they are and it makes me giggle and kick my feet. They were perfect, I loved the way they interacted and the tension between them was SO good. I just absolutely adore the writing too, there’s something about this book and the previous title (when in Rome) that just feels… homely. Both books are like the warmest, cosiest hug and I could never get tired of them. These books are becoming my comfort stories and I can’t wait to go back to Rome, Kentucky when I need to find solace and comfort. 💗

Practice Makes Perfect, the most recent novel from Sarah Adams is pure rom com perfection. I was already a huge fan of Adams, having read and loved both The Cheat Sheet and When in Rome and Practice Makes Perfect had only gone to further cement my love for her books.

It was so great to be back in small town Rome, Kentucky and amongst all the familiar characters from When in Rome. That said you could still pick up Practice Makes Perfect and read it as a standalone, though I think it’s even better to read it after When in Rome as it follows on so perfectly. I loved Annie as a side character in When in Rome and was so excited that she was getting her own book.

Florist Annie is determined to find someone that she thinks will complete her life; she’s desperate for the kind of marriage she’s been told her parents enjoyed. But after her most recent date dismissed her as ‘unbelievably boring’ she’s worried she’s not got what it takes to find herself a suitor. Maybe she needs some practice, and with some meddling from Amelia it seems bodyguard Will might be the perfect tutor. Will, however, has been trying to fight the magnetic pull that keeps bringing him to Annie and avoid any attachments to the sleepy town of Rome.

Amid steamy practice dates and strictly 'educational' tutoring lessons, the lines of their friendship blur and Annie reconsiders what her 'dream guy' might look like. Maybe her love life doesn't need to be perfect - it just needs to be real.

Adams writes with such sparkling wit and charm you cannot help but come to adore her characters. I already liked Annie before but I adored the journey she went in in this book. I loved that as much as this was a romance where the girl finds her guy, it was also about the girl finding out who she is, who she wants to be and defining that to those around her who had unknowingly boxed her in. Annie was such a fab female lead.

Will was equally great. He’s a roguish bad boy with a reputation, but with an absolute heart of gold. Both Will and Annie have their own reasons for why they approach the idea of relationships so definitively and I loved how open and honest they were with one another. Also, and I hope this isn’t a spoiler, but I loved how Will thoroughly indulged Annie’s love of pirate romance novels. The chemistry between this pair was excellent and the novel gets a little steamy but still fades to black; Adams really knows how to write a romance accessible to all.

I loved being back in Rome and can’t wait to hopefully get there again!

It’s always a feat when a book makes me giddy, but this one did just that. It was a pure joy to read, filled with kind-hearted characters and cosy small town vibes. The book put its own spin on the classic fake dating trope, which allowed for plenty of emotional spiralling and pining from afar.

Annie was such a wonderful heroine. She started off with little confidence in herself but by the end she was living her life out loud, not worried about what her beloved siblings or tight-knit town would think. But this didn’t mean her personality did a 180. She was still the kind, generous and relatable woman from the first page. Will was a great leading man. Like Annie, he was suppressing a part of himself. In his case, he was denying his shot at love despite deep down being a secret sweetie – especially when it came to Annie. The couple caught feelings fast but I didn’t mind because they had a great dynamic. Annie and Will were polar opposites on paper, possessing their own unique narrative voices, but they complemented each other so well.

The side characters were charming additions. I specifically liked Annie’s sister-in-law to-be, Amelia, as she was unwavering in her support and always only wanted the best for her, even if it pushed Annie out of her comfort zone.

The entire book was brimming with sweetness. It did veer towards sappy at the end, what with Will’s grand romantic gesture, but by that point the book could do no wrong and I really liked how it wrapped up.

Would I recommend?… YES, if you’re feeling sad, you should read this. If you’re feeling happy, you should read this. If you’re just hungry, YOU SHOULD READ THIS.

I LOVE Sarah Adams books so this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 and it did not disappoint! This was such a cute, sweet romance - I loved it🥰

Annie and Will are opposites. Annie is the girl next door; sweet and looking for love (though her shyness and introverted nature doesn’t help on first dates). Will, on the other hand, is the flirtatious tattooed body guard that doesn’t do relationships or believe in love. It had everything to go wrong but when Amelia starts meddling and gets Will to agree to be Annie’s dating coach, they quickly becomes friends and the more time they spend together the harder it is to ignore the chemistry that so clearly existed between them. Soon, the line between friendship and something more starts to blur and Annie and Will will have to decide whether it’s worth giving their relationship a chance.

I loved seeing both Will and Annie’s developments but Annie’s was one of my favourite things about this book. It can be so easy to get lost in the version of ourselves that other people see and it’s definitely not easy to let go of it and become our true selves. Seeing Annie stand up for herself and let go of the sweet, pure little girl reputation that she had got over the years was heartwarming and emotional and I loved that Will played such a big role in it by seeing her by who she was, listening to her and always encouraging her to be her true self. Their communication was great and the effects show.

I also have to mention the insane amount of adorable scenes we got in this book, which never failed to put the biggest smile on my face and make me swoon.

If you’re looking for a book that feels like a warm hug, with awesome characters with outstanding chemistry, amazing banter and a bunch of the sweetest scenes, this is the book for you!

“It was easier to say I don’t believe in love, rather than admitting to myself that I was afraid that I wouldn’t be loved back”

This book is about Annie, a shy introvert who is looking to find a boyfriend and get married someday. She has just had an awful date where she overheard her date asking his friend to call him and say there’s an emergency and he has to leave because he finds Annie boring. Will Griffin is the opposite to Annie with tattoos and a bad boy reputation. However there’s more to him than that. They make an enragement where Will will teach Annie and give her lessons on how to have a successful date by being her “practice person.”

I really enjoyed this book. Annie is such a sweet character and her shyness is very relatable. Throughout the book I did begin to feel sorry for Annie because of the way other people saw her and how much she hated it because she was way more than that. How could you not love Will Griffin, he’s sexy and tattooed but also really kind and sweet. He was into Annie From the beginning and always treated her with so much kindness. I loved the practice kissing scenes, along with the scenes they’re going deep into each others layers and understanding each other more.
Overall this book is so adorable. You need to read this sweet and swoony romance if you love friends to lovers and small town romance.

The book contains
- practice kissing and dates
- Friend to lovers ish
- Zero to to no spice
- Small town romance
- Element of Insta love

Quotes
- “Annabell, I need you to know, I’ve falling madly in love with you”
- “Come with me?”
“Anywhere.”
- “I’ve never felt safer with anyone than I do with you”
- “Please. Just let me be here. I don’t know why, but I can’t be anywhere else.”
- “Having Annie’s trust feels like holding the world. I never want to break it.”
- “If I waited until I felt confident to live my life and do the things I want to do, I’d never live.”

From the first paragraph on page 1 I knew I was going to love this book. I found myself relating a lot to Annie with her mindset towards men and dating in general, it’s such an awkward thing and I found her first date with John very relatable. But as the book progressed, I honestly adored Will. He was so perfect for her and I could see the ending coming a mile off but that’s what I expected from this kind of novel

I didn’t read When In Rome but I can definitely confirm that there’s no right or wrong order for reading these books and they can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

Honestly the fact he seems to be able to communicate makes me fall for our male MC in a way I haven’t in a while!!!
This book is a beautiful emotional love story set in a stunning city. Honestly as if my desire spend all my time in a flower shop wasn’t already strong enough!
I hadn’t read the first book in this series prior to reading this ARC but honestly I am going to be picking it up next!
Can’t recommend this enough!

“Some part of me has always known I would love you.”

5/5 freaking stars i am so obsessed with this book and it is now one of my new favourite romance books of all time!!! i adore annie and will with my entire being. their story captivated me in such a way i have only experiences with my absolute favourite books, i will never get over this one.

the banter in this novel was phenomenal, the relationships were so strong and well built, the small town vibes were so ADORABLE!! (apart from when they thought they could vote on who someone dates but it was comedy nevertheless) i need a will griffin in my life asap, someone who loves me as much as will loves annie. this love is truly only in the books but i will eat it up nevertheless!!

the tension was absolutely perfect, not too much and not too little, once again i so appreciate the fade to black/closed door scenes, this is why sarah adams is a QUEEN! i need to go and read amelia and noah’s story asap because i was absolutely dying at their love for one another, SO WHOLESOME! i also sense a lil romance with mr james and maddie but we shall see hehe.

please stop whatever you are doing and pick up this book if you can. you will not regret it. this is one of the most wholesome, sweet and giddy romances and it has absolutely everything i needed and more. i will 100% be rereading this in the future!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGallery for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was absolutely adorable! I devoured When In Rome and was pleased to see there was a sequel involving Annie.

You can't go wrong with the bad boy/good girl storyline and it didn't disappoint. The pacing was great, I'm in love with the town and all the characters are delightful.

Sarah knows how to write good banter and sexual tension.

Such an easy read, effortless writing and a story that feels like a warm, cosy hug.

I'd like to move to Rome, Kentucky, please.
