Kids would find this book so hilarious! I can picture my nephew and students in my classroom giggling at this goofy book.
This was really funny and cute. The repetition was nice, and I loved the observations of who they passed on the stairs.
Illustrations and representation were great. I would definitely recommend.
I have a colleague who would definitely read this in her storytime!
The illustrations for the boy who cried poop were delightful. My little one had lots to take in and ask questions about and they were entertaining. I found the story a little disjointed. I enjoyed the moral of the story and think this is a good moral to instil in children to reduce any feelings of shame. There were elements of the story I just didn't get though. Why all the random numbers of the people on the stairs, 13 or this, 6 of that. And why specifically 168 steps. A young child doesn't understand that this is a lot of steps, and the story line doesn't suit an older child. Also, the group told stories about accidents they had, but then the pool was clean again with no understanding for the child as to how it had got clean again?
I read this to my toddler who’s trying to potty train and my 5 year old who thinks “poop” is the funniest thing ever to say. The illustrations were super colorful and fun, the story was very relatable for any parent and was exciting for my kids. So silly and fun, we definitely enjoyed this book!
This is such a cute and fun story about a little boy who had to poop. Then he didn't. But then he did. You get the picture.
Poop stories are usually guaranteed to make little ones laugh. And probably a few adults too.
This would be a great read-out-loud book to read to a group of youngsters. I can just imagine 6 or 7 children sitting around in a fit of giggles while listening to the story. Laughter is contagious!
The adult reading this story aloud can appreciate the frustration and patience of the father.
There are a lot of imaginative bystanders in this story too. A pregnant lady with a plate of bacon, moulting flamingos, an older brother who counts steps (I can identify with him), and more.
Great illustrations!
And the moral of the story: poop happens!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.
This book was very cute and told a story a lot of kids might be able to relate to but are too afraid to talk about. Heck maybe even some adults. I liked how the people were all different ethnicities and shapes and ages. Very relatable.
My kids laughed the whole time I was reading to them. A silly, funny book.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC!
My five year old son said this was a good one! It’s very fitting as he’s currently taking swim lessons.
Oh this was so great. The story was fun to read, and hilarious. It made something embarrassing normal and relatable. The illustrations are INCREDIBLE, so gorgeous and colorful and just fun to look at. I can't wait to purchase this one for my son when it's published!
This was…interesting and entertaining.
So as a society we don’t want to glorify poop or pooping in a pool but this author not only made it OK if you had an accident in a pool, but actually made it kind of fun which is awesome, yet terrifying.
This book was so much fun. However, I feel like there should be a note at the end, reminding people that accidents happen, but let’s not poop in the pool because it really isn’t all that cool.
I could totally see my son and my niece purposely pooping in a pool if I read this to them but it’s too funny not to share lol
Delightful book for young children. The illustrations are really cute and serve as a treasure hunt of sorts. 8 definitely enjoyed finding and counting all 13 cats! The characters are drawn with different skin colours too, which lends the book a multicultural perspective. It would be great to read this to any kid who has had a poop accident.
I found this to be a very relatable book. My toddler and I were out to lunch a couple days ago and we got up from the table four times to go to the potty. He never went, then ultimately it was an emergency in the bushes. I think both parents and kids will enjoy this story. The illustrations are fun and engaging.
The book overall was cute, I can relate to this book as a dad who has 3 kids. The poop talk did get a bit in-depth towards the end, I didn't care for the part about the pregnant lady pooping, thought that was too much info for a kid's book. But overall the story was good and it was that everyone included the boy and didn't make him feel like an outcast. The illustrations were good, and the book was a good length.
This is such a funny read!
I loved the illustrations in this one! They were bright, imaginative, and hilarious! The story was really funny as well, and kids and adults both laughing. I love that it is just depicted as something that happens sometimes and a kid should not feel shame over having an accident.
Really silly and also endearing.
