Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.

I let curiosity get me all the time and all I get out of it is pain. If wild as fuck erotica is your thing and you need a quickie I suggest this book. It has to be satire because if it is not I am going to be giving you the biggest side eye ever. Like... I wouldn't trust my dino kids around you, okay? Lol.

There were times when it was fun but in the end it was just meh. I didn't take anything away from it except that maybe I need to reign in on my curiosity.

This was just so ridiculous. I don’t know why this exists, but it was entertaining. I was confused 98% of the time

I love silly smut, but I want a good story. Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer gives you both. I enjoyed it very silly but fun. I did enjoy this more than the other books in the Dinosaur Erotica series, but not as much as Dino Stud.

*******Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced audiobook copy in exchange for my honest review!******* (Emphasis on that part)

<b>"She saw stars again, whole galaxies in his iridescent feathers."</b>

Everybody's so creative!! Original concept? I sure hope so. I mean... if you're into this then I guess it's good. Ya'll stay safe out there.

Spoilers? Tropes? Trigger warnings? Unsure... <spoiler> arm amputation, cheating allosaurus, allosaurus harem, allosaurus to WLW pipeline?, ritualistic allosaurus sex </spoiler>

When you’re offered dinosaur erotica, you of course always say yes to reading it. Thank you to NetGalley for this unique opportunity.

✒️
Tanis has always been fascinated by the big dinosaurs. Dinosaurs has been revived and – like most things capitalism – integrated into the work force. Tanis, of course, meets the hero of the story – Big Al, the allosaurus, and they fall in love. But love isn’t easy, especially when it’s interspecies and Tanis’ dad doesn’t approve. Will their forbidden love survive?

📖
This book is the obvious choice for someone looking for a lighthearted, funny and fast read, if you don’t mind the erotica of course. Without really knowing the dinosaur erotica genre too well, I will also be honest and say I think it’s a good entry point to experience what the internet jokes about, without being too grim, because Big Al might be an allosaurus, but he sure is humanized in a lot of the book, so it doesn’t become too ghastly to read. And don’t let the cover fool you either – Big Al does have feathers in the book, even though they’re lacking on the cover. I will also recommend picking up the audiobook, because Katrina Medina does a phenomenal job with the voices and the storytelling in this book.

As mentioned, I don’t have a lot of experience with dinosaur erotica, but I feel like this book fit a whole lot of plot into the 175 pages it had. They surely got to work fast, while giving enough of a plotline to keep me entertained throughout the book while not being one long love fest for the characters. My first thought for this book was actually “too much plot in too little space” in this amazing world of dinosaurs and humans living side by side, but it works for the genre, because much more plot and explanations probably would’ve taken some of the humorous tone off the book.

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer has intrigued me enough to maybe pick up other dinosaur erotica at some point in time, if I’m looking for an entertaining short read.

Bonkers, absolutely baffling, and so fun.
Insta love between a farmers daughter and a ripped allosaurus, which is as over the top, and hilariously entertaining as you can imagine.

I’m trying to be better about giving reviews, and actually voicing my opinion in a way that isn’t “I liked this part, I didn’t like that part, etc”

To me, this was enjoyable the way that campy 80s horror movies are enjoyable.

This was a very fun and out there kind of read. The erotica was fun but I was super invested on how Tanis was going to be able to keep feeding Big Al without him just eating her. Good thing they slaughterhouse can do. 😅 For what this book was, it was great! No pretense, they get busy asap.

Was this the most ridiculous thing I've ever read? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes and no. Yes, to those I know who have a sense of humor. And no, to anyone I am related to or work with.

Let me start off with the best thing about this book - that beautiful cover. Absolute *chef's kiss*. The vibes are immaculate and it immediately tells you the most important aspect before starting this book.... don't take it too seriously.

This book is not taking itself seriously, and neither should you. The ongoing humor did help to balance some of the more distasteful aspects but it really wasn't able to bring it to a net positive. Almost every review will tell you about the most immediately disturbing aspect - Big Al eats her arm after a wound made amputation necessary. While in the moment there was little description (thankfully), it was described in more detail multiple times throughout the book. Personally, I could have done without that. It kept dropping my humor level back to a negative and the funny parts were too far apart to make up for it.

There were also many phrases that made my face squish up like I smelled what was being described, and I was thankful I was taking my dog for a walk in the middle of a field and no one would see my facial expressions. Lots of "stale spunk", "glorious and primordial stink" and "meaty sauna of his breath". As uncomfortable as it was, it did feel like I was smelling it along with the FMC!

But the entertaining parts were certainly entertaining! With phrases like:
- "Big Al, with his big honky tonk hair and cocky stare"
- "He folded her over forward like his own savory little tortilla"

A BIG kudos to the narrator, she really did a fantastic job with such... unique... subject matter.

Overall, a ridiculous read that wasn't quite on the net positive side of enjoyment. The potential was there, and there were definitely some LOLs but there was more distaste, unfortunately. I will certainly check out more of the author's works.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this…

Tanis is a country girl who’s looking for something more. And she finds it - in Big Al, the Allosaurus. They take off, getting away from the judging eyes of Tanis’ family and friends and try to make their love work.

I mean. This book has been all over bookish social media lately so when I was on Netgalley last week and saw it was available as an audiobook I could not resist.

I really don’t know what else to say. What do you expect when you *know* that you’re going into an interspecies sex story that features dinosaurs? I think I got what I expected. If you picture Big Al as just some doofy human with poor social skills, it was actually a cute story with some steamy scenes…just don’t think too long and hard about the logistics of it.

i mean....you know youre going into this reading a romance about a dinosaur and a human. so look past that lol. The writing was good. It wasnt overly flowery or too simple. Ive never read a monster romace so this was my first and i thought the spice level was decent. I did chuckle a few times, but it was an enjoyable time which surprised me honestly.

Ok, I know I am *not* the target audience of this book... but when NetGalley gives you an ARC of dinosaur erotica, how can you say no? That said, I made it about 28 minutes until I decided I couldn't take it anymore. I mean, it was hilarious and ridiculous, and I guess apparently there is a strange subset of people who are into dinosaur erotica? I'm just not one of them.

I don't think I was the only one who thought this was at least gonna be fun (or at least funny) besides for the erotica (which is, unfortunately, for me, the main idea). This instead used overly dramatic situations as the gag/parody and was unexpectedly gorey (though it should have been expected because of the said carnivorous dinosaur). Thankfully, it was short, and the last chapter being about mental health was really good, and I wasn't aware of it (though I should have because it's the most logical thing).

4 stars for the audiobook performance.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with the digital copy for an honest review.

Thank you net galley for providing me with a free copy of Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer in exchange for a honest review.

Shakespeare reading dinosaur takes young woman's virginity, eats her arm and has the audacity to cheat on her. He then proceeds to gaslight her into forgiving him and running away with him to live as outlaws, encouraging her to go down a criminal path shoplifting clothes from Walmart when in lack of money.

Worst part? The dinosaurs name is Big Al.

- I haven’t read much in this genre, and I don’t think it’s for me. It was so absurd, but in a way that really took me out of the story.
- in hindsight, I should’ve not been as surprised that a dinosaur book would be a little gory, but that was a very strange touch.
- this was also the most insta love of insta lives I’ve ever read. It felt like I was reading an abridged version of a book where they removed a chunk of introductory info. The book starts out right in the middle of the conflict.
- for people who like this genre, you may really like it! For people looking for an intro into this genre, definitely read reviews first.

I'd heard of this book via social media when readers on Tiktok found it and were discussing how crazy the plot was. I laughed and moved on. THEN when I saw that the audio was out as I was scrolling, I had to try it. This book CANNOT be taken seriously and I don't believe the author wanted you to. The narrator did a great job conveying the sweet sentimentality of this feelings this female main character had - but in reality it's still a women and a dinosaur so it's hilarious.

O-kay. . . I don't know how to review this.

I had an idea what I was getting into with just the description alone. Dinosaur Erotica. Says it all right?

Well this was beyond what I was expecting.

The non-smut plot/worldbuilding is actually intriguing - a population where dinosaurs have been revived and are capable of communication with humans, working alongside them is quite interesting. I could have listened to an entire story following just that for hours.

As for the spice. . . Holy Moley. It was a battle between outright laughter and complete confusion about the mechanics of some of the scenarios. There were times when I had to pause just to re-collect myself as the dinosaur/human ahem smexy stuff was outrageous. Honestly without the mention of his feathers or other dino features, I kept forgetting and was picturing Big Al as human.

Overall it was a fun listen, and I appreciated the chance to explore a genre I haven't read yet.

Thank you to #NetGalley and BooksGoSocial Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review this title.

3.5⭐️ but I’ll round it up to a 4. This was so bonkers, I kinda lived for it 🦖🦕 this audio was SO MUCH FUN! I truly will never forget it.

Well that was different. If you need something that will make you laugh with zero plot and some interesting spice this book might be for you. I think Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer is by far one of the strangest books I've read. I sort of feel like my brain is in wtf-did-I-just-read-mode.

Tanis is obsessed the the dinosaurs who work on her fathers ranch. Life quickly changes when she runs into Big Al (a sentient Allosaurus) in the barn and her father gets mad she's so close to him. Will Big Al kill her will he fuck her? Read and find out at your own risk.

The narrator, Katrina Medina, did an amazing job. I would listen to more books narrated by her.

HEA, Monster erotica, dinosaur erotica, monster romance

Definitely check the TW/CW before reading

2.5/5⭐️ for the book
4.5/5⭐️ for the audio
3.5/5⭐️ Total Rating

I never thought that I’d find a book that’d make 𝗜𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 seem sane, but here we are! I was tired of some of the triggering content that I was coming across in romances lately so I felt a break was in order. And what better way to do that than by reading about a dinosaur-human lust/love story?

Thanks to science dinosaurs have been brought back to existence and some are even part of the workforce. Tanis becomes obsessed with one of the dinosaurs on her father’s ranch - Big Al. I kid you not. With the aid of modern technology they’re able to communicate. When her dad goes berserk seeing them talking, they run off on their own adventure, avoiding law enforcement and weary humans. If you thought it was weird in the first few minutes it gets even more bonkers. Anyway, some of the highlights include:

“𝙷𝚎 𝚜𝚖𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚍 𝚑𝚘𝚝 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚢 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚊 𝚋𝚊𝚛𝚋𝚎𝚌𝚞𝚎.” - describing Big Al

“𝙷𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚕𝚍𝚎𝚍 𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚍 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚘𝚠𝚗 𝚜𝚊𝚟𝚘𝚛𝚢 𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚊.” - sexy times

“𝙲𝚢𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛 𝚘𝚏 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎” - take a guess

I knew full well what I was getting into. Kudos to the narrator because there’s no way I could be composed reading this aloud. I finished the audiobook in a matter of hours. The story embraces its absurdity, and honestly, it was a terrific reset for my mind and my reading. I’d recommend it if you want to switch things up, are good with copious amounts of sexy times and smut, and want something completely crackers.

Thanks to @netgalley & #booksgosocialaudio for my ALC. This is my honest review.
