I received a free copy from Netgalley for an honest review.
I know, I know! What the hell is this?!
I laughed out loud when I saw the the cover art and the title, curiosity got the best of me and I couldn't resist. Let it be known that I will read almost anything for the sake of excellent recommendations for book lovers.
To start us off, this is not a good book. This is the type of strange fiction that you find through a hushed section of the internet that people eventually openly laugh about because it's so strange and ridiculous – 'My Immortal' comes to mind – so much so that I can't tell if the author is genuinely serious about their writing or it's contemporary satire, given the Bookish community's resurgence of "spicy" content. This kind of thing isn't new, but it usually stays in its respected places on internet forums etc.
As you can guess from the cover, the book details a young woman named Tanis who falls for an Allosaurus called Big Al after he saved her from her grim and ghastly father. Before we have a chance to stick this in the pile of 'woman violates animal' we learn that dinosaurs are in fact just like humans with feelings and the ability to communicate telepathically due to some recently invented technology, this is followed by lust and unfortunately blood lust – it is a carnivore after all. The plot is very basic. A star-crossed lover, misunderstood trope that wraps up very quickly with very little personality from the characters other than they like each others naughty parts. Yes, I understand the point of an erotic novella but I would have loved some meat and bones to this story – not just the flesh from Tanis's unwanted suitors.
Thankfully the book is short, less than 100 pages. If anything I suggest you pick this up so you can be equally grossed out by this hysterical novel. (Sorry to all dino-lovers! – Literally) Best enjoyed in a group of not so squeamish and easily entertained friends.
If you’ve watch Jurassic Park and wondered what it would be like to have “relations” with the dinosaurs this book may be for you.
Suspend reality for a moment if you will. Where humans and dinosaurs are alive together.
There’s a dinosaur who is able to communicate via telepathy with a human, she has many orgasms (he words not mind). It is an absolute wild adventure, and if this is your yum, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

I...can not in good conscience ever recommend this book and rue the day I told myself that I'd "give it a try" while wondering "how bad could it be." Outside of unexpected gruesome cannibalism I wasn't expecting, this book really made me struggle with any character motivation. It was literally just a series of more unexplicable events happening to our protagonist. I think they were shooting for Ice Planet Barbarians and how fun that series is but they just completely missed the very important arc of basic characterization and storyline to make it interesting. 1 star because Netgalley is making me add a rating, which I would prefer to leave out.
Wow, this book was a whirlwind. I can appreciate a little monster smut every now and then. But this was not it.
It was ridiculous and completely bonkers. My main complaint? HE CHEATS ON HER. Absolutely not. I don’t care if you are a dinosaur or not. I’m not a fan of the cheating trope. And this stupid girl still wants this dino after he cheats on her. NOPE.
Also… spoiler alert… HE EATS HER ARM OFF. Wait, that’s not even the worst part. SHE ENJOYS IT. FINDS PLEASURE IN IT, EVEN. Wild.
This short novella was a wild ride, that I wish I wouldn’t have taken. It gets 1 star because of how hilarious it was.
Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for a complementary arc of this audio. All thoughts are my own.
This is one of the weirdest books I've ever read. It was a short book, so the storyline was very rushed feeling. I feel very like this was one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. As crazy as the storyline was in this book, I still would read another of her books.
Hahaha omg. What did I just listen to????
Very much not good and very much didn't like it. First she was SEVENTEEN and second HE ATE HER ARM.... Like, why?
I first heard about this book a few years ago and had been intrigued. My sister, cousin and I knew we had to read it so when i saw it available as audio on NetGalley I knew I had to give it a listen.
BUT the only good thing I can say is this was a super quick read/listen.
Thanks NetGalley for the audio ARC in exchange for this review.
Wildly inappropriate for a middle school library, but everything the librarians need in their life. I'm not going to elaborate any further, because those who get it will get it.
describing dinosaur hair with the phrase "sexy, and hip, honkey-tonk curl" is not quite what I expected my ears to be graced with on a Tuesday morning.
I'm giving this three stars out of the pure audacity Lola had to write and publish this. props to the narrator for not bursting into laugher every other paragraph.
The narrator was very good, able to convey emotion and get listeners captivated, however, this story was not for me.
I wasn't expecting the storyline to take the turn it did, so I was quite shocked with some of the plot. This might be a book for someone else, but it was definitely not for me.
Well this was an interesting read - Big Al's talons were quite something! Spicy from the very start, but a little lacking in much else. If you're looking for a quick, quite amusing read, then this would be enjoyable for you. I'm not sure I'm into the monster spice, however the narrator did a great job on the audiobook version.
This title is perfect for lovers of monster romance, it is nothing exceptional but, let's say, it gets the job done.
It is well-written and well-narrated.
Both the plot and the characters are bonkers, this book exceeds even the monster-romance level of bonkers, let's just say I wasn't really into the eating-arm thing, but the rest was okay.
Thank you for letting me listen to this arc.
I will say this is my first hot dinosaur read. It’s a quick spicy read!
I had seen this book on social media and honestly thought it was a jokes. Nope erotica dinosaur book. My kids love dinosaurs so I may have picked this book before thinking through what I had gotten my self into.
It’s what you think it is. Nothing surprising.
This was completely nuts I do not know why I did this to myself. though there of course were so many ridiculous parts that had me cackling but I do not plan to read another dino smut novella
Dont judge me, but this is my first Dinosaur Erotica LOL...I've already heard of this author when some fellow booktubers mentioned Dino Stud when it was available on NetGalley in Feb 2023. I did not read that one. When this one was was available as audio, I decided to give it a try. Egh, for a novella or very short story, there is no plot really. The dinosaurs actually have verbal translators on them so Tanis can understand Big Al. Alot of things really didn't make sense like Big Al actually ate Tanis' arm off “There was something deathly sexy about watching Big Al consume a part of her like a tasty, meaty protein bar…” Do I think I'll try anymore of this genre?!...most likely not. All of these covers though....a mix of old school poses and filters are the perfect fit for them.
Katrina Medina (Narrator) did an amazing job like I actually liked her narration.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
First time reading monster/dino smut, and I have to say this was highly enjoyable. Definitely not everyones cup of tea, but for those with an open mind and the ability to see this for the fun of it.

What in the world 😆 Big Al & Tanis y’all had me ROTFF 🤣 Why I bothered: Well I’ve been seeing a lot of hype about this book on several Facebook Reading Groups and when I saw there was an Audio ARC for it I couldn’t pass it up….or should I have🥴 ok to be honest the narrator did a great job and it was a super fast read👏 I couldn’t have kept a straight face much less not bust out laughing if I was given the job or a million dollars! It was highly entertaining, and I just couldn’t stop laughing…well until I got to the menstruation part…no joke that was gross. Anyways, if you are looking for a gag gift, a book to make you laugh your tush off, or need something entertaining to get you out of a reading slump then this is the book for you. This was the highlight of my day😆🥴😆
Thank you at @netgalley for this Audiobook Arc in exchange for an honest review. Big kuddos to the narrator Katrina Medina!!!
I recently had the opportunity to listen to "Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer" on audiobook, thanks to NetGalley. As a lover of comedy and even some monster romance, I found this book to be a hilarious and entertaining listen.
While I hope it was intended as a satire, I must admit that the monster romance aspect didn't quite do it for me. However, I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity of the situations the characters found themselves in.
The narration was well done, and the humor was definitely the highlight of the book. Overall, I enjoyed my time with "Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer," and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good laugh.
I rated it two stars, because although it wasn't my thing, I laughed a lot.
Thank you again to NetGalley for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
Oh no. I started off cackling, but the longer I listened, the more disturbing it got. Someone send help, I am not okay. Absolutely unhinged.
Thank you to netgalley for the advanced listening copy of wet hot allosaurur summer by Lola Faust. I decided to grab these because I saw it talked about on TikTok and now I'm realizing this was a huge joke. I laughed through almost the entire book.
