It wasn't a bad story but I felt the story time line was rushed. There is a lot going on in the book. The case details were interesting. But to go from campaigning to voting on bills just went by as if an after thought. I felt the romance was where the author spent most of her efforts. The story needs a bit of revising to make it more appealing.
It was almost there but not quite. I cannot get over the fact that they are opposing counsel ... who have an affair with each other. There is not a professional rule of conduct against it (at least in the model federal ethical rules), but it's still not cool. Also, the blurb is not written well, which generally translates to the book.
I wanted to like this book more but I couldn't. I didn't like Kayla, she doubted his feelings, thought she was always right no matter what, accused the MMC of things that he didn't do and didn't apologize. God, she had so many problems. I liked Joe, he wasn't perfect but he put up with her and that takes a saint. He was so sweet to her, he was there for her even when she was being stupid or rejected him. He deserved so much better, she was blergh. And the plot had to many things happening without conclusion or without reason really. It was strange and weird. This had potential but it fell short
