This is the story of Dave, a tribe member who gets cornered by a sabretooth tiger. The tiger is big and scary, but his tribe comes to his rescue. Dave learns that getting along with the members of his tribe, and being a good citizen, and helping out is the way to go. The book has a cadence and rhymes pretty well. Sometimes the cadence is a little choppy and the rhymes harsh, but the story is nice. However, I’ve seen this topic done better.

Very cute and unique book. You don’t see many children’s book with characters that are cavemen. There were several lessons that were learned throughout the book. Also, it rhymes - so that makes it even better!

A children's picture book that follows Dave, a lovable but not-so-brave Caveman, on his perilous adventure to earn the respect of his tribe. Young readers will journey back to prehistoric times and learn about the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and asking for help. Filled with suspense, humor, and valuable life lessons, this book is perfect for kids who love adventure and want to learn about the power of friendship.

This is a silly rhyming book about Dave the caveman who learns to pay attention, work as a team with his tribe and be helpful. My 1 year old loved the rhyming and pictures of Dave.

Dave and the Sabretooth is an appealing story for kids by Matt Crew. Released 31st March 2023, it's 37 pages and is available in paperback format. The author has included a QR code in the book for purchasers to acquire a copy in ebook format as well.

This is a fully illustrated short tale for young readers, told in rhyming text. The illustrations (see cover) are whimsically appealing and *many* of them feature funny small details for both young readers and the adults in their lives to find.

Protagonist Dave isn't particularly brave, or super intelligent, or strong. He's a sort of everyman character most of us can sympathize with and recognize ourselves in. He just wants to prove himself, so he sets off alone to hunt and finds danger instead.

The loosely rhyming text couplets are funny and lightly humorous. There are a couple of typos in the text, but the review copy provided to the media is an early version, and presumably the (minor) errors are corrected in the print release copy.

Four stars. It would make a good choice for public or school library acquisition, gift giving, and home use.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
