I love Primrose Hill, and I love vintage dress shops, so I was immediately attracted to this book. It didn't fail. And no, I can never find d a dres to buying thesesnops as a. They are designer goodies and made for tiny tiny women, and b. The price is beyond my budget.
So again I understood the story.
It was well written, enjoyable and believable. Nice style and content.

This is part one of a two part book , after reading Thisi. Can’t wait to see how it ends, I do love a slow burn of a story abd romance, nothing like patience and the build up for a great climatic read. I loved the humour, the characters, location, just everything and really need the second part.

\First part of a four part series and what a series this is. Fashions going back to the 1930's, a snobby boss who thinks she is the bees knees.. Sophy wants enough money to get to Australia but she has lost her job.. She ends up working in the Vintage Dress shop, you will have to read this lovely book to find out what happens. Well worth 5 stars.

Thanks to Netgally and publisher for this ARC

I really enjoyed reading this book, it is a short read, as it is part 1 of a 4 part series. It was easy to read and well written.
I don't know much about fashion, vintage or modern but I was still able to enjoy reading about it. It was an interesting subject.
I liked Sophy, the main character, she deserves some luck. Phoebe, the manager is not so nice and I hope that she gets her comeuppance in one of the next books.
I am very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

If you're in the mood for a quick, fun and romantic novella, this story is the one to pick up! There's a protagonist that's super easy to root for and a great love interest. This was a lovely book to read and I cannot wait to read the second part.

A truly stunning book from Annie; although she is a new author to me. It is beautifully written with lovely descriptions.

Thank you netgalley for an advanced copy of this book. This book is part of a series a detail I overlooked when I started reading it as when I'd finished it I was desperate to read on and find out more, which tells you how much I enjoyed what I'd read so far. I can't wait for the next book.

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to NetGalley who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.

The Vintage Dress Shop In Primrose Hill is part one of a four-part series and if this first part is anything to go by, it is going to be an amazing book and well worth a read!

It was such an easy book to read and i loved the authors style of writing. Each chapter pulled me along into the next one and made me whizz through it until there was nothing left!!

Sophy was such a lovely character, so down-to-earth and real and I found myself really relating to her.

This was a wonderful start to a story, with some great characters and I cannot wait to read more…….

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

i really enjoyed reading this book. The characters all different in their own ways and have their own stories to tell as the story progresses. in future instalments.

Sophy, at the age of thirty, not only loses her job, as she's made, but also, her relationship ends with her boyfriend, both on the same day.

Now, she's back, living with her mother and stepfather., having to sleep on the sofa as her bedroom has been changed into a spa room. her relationship with her real dad isn't that good, he wasn't around much throughout her life.

When she meets him, he offers her a job, in his shop. But Sophy only knows of him owning a secondhand shop., so she's not that eager to work there. As she's planning to move to Australia, she has no option but to take him up on the offer. We then get to meet the characters at the shop where Sophy is going to work, which isn't a second had shop as she was expecting.

i recommend this book.

Sophy is a girl who is a little bit lost. She has been made redundant from her decade-long job in a cheap and cheerful fashion shop and her boyfriend has called it quits on their relationship. So when her unreliable Aussie dad, Johnno (such an Australian name!) offers her a job in his job, Sophy decides to give it a go.

What she doesn't realise is that instead of the junk shop she thought she was going to work at, the shop sells designer label vintage dresses, not really Sophy's area of expertise. The shop is run by the nasty Phoebe who goes out of her way to make Sophy's life miserable, for no reason that Sophy can figure out. However, Sophy needs the job so she tries to make the best of it.

Along the way, there are misunderstandings, frustrations with her dad (Sophy is considering migrating to Australia and needs his help to do so) and the general stuff of life.

This was a great book! The only thing was that when I requested it, I didn't realise that this was only the first part of a 4-part series, which was a bit annoying, it has to be said because I wanted to continue the story. I hope I get to read part 2 :) As a mad reader, I find it detracts from my enjoyment of the book because by the time I get to read the next part, I have lost the rhythm of the story and it takes a bit of time to get that back.

Would love to read it, in it's entirety!

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton.

This was a taster short story and left me wanting to read the whole book and is the fourth book in the series following the high and lows of Sophy's erractic loves and life..

A bit of a slow burner.
Didn`t realise it was a two part book until I got to the end so was disappointed I didn`t find out how it ended.
Sophy wants to move to Australia and finally meet her grandparents, so her estranged dad offers her a job to save up for the ticket.
She thinks the job is in a antique shop but is pleasantly surprised it`s a vintage clothes shop with a very bossy manager.
I just couldn`t gel with any of the characters so would not be interested to get the second book to finish the story.

Annie Darling is a new to me author who I'm very pleased to discover. This was a very enjoyable instalment of a series. I loved the details of the dress shop. The world of vintage fashion came alive and so did the cast of eclectic characters.

My only gripe is why was this book broken into parts when it seemed like it should have continued? I was really enjoying the read and then bam, it was over and left me with so many questions. Most importantly what will happen when Sophy sees Charles again, and will she ever get to Australia?

I'm sure I will continue with the series because I'd love to find out how Sophy's plans turn out.

Sophy finds herself on her own, jobless and sleeping on her mother's couch at the age of 30. She decides to emigrate to Australia to stay with her paternal grandparents, but needs a job to save for the visa and travel. Her (very) strange, mostly absent father offers her a job in his shop. Rather than the junk shop that she remembers from her childhood though, it is actually an upmarket vintage clothes shop.
I found myself really enjoying this story, even though I know nothing about clothes, my wife is more the expert here and she would love to work there. The manager is a dragon though, and the other two assistants standoffish. In this first part Sophy begins to find her feet, plus there is Charles, a very charming gemstone specialist who sources clothes for the shop and she is attracted to. All in all a very good introduction to the serial and one where I can't wait to read the second part.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

It was an enjoyable enough read while it lasted, but it’s only part of a book really, as it ends in the middle of nowhere, and without a definite date of even the next instalment will drop, and so it leaves the reader rather discombobulated.

The first part of this series, set in an upmarket vintage dress shop, has a likeable main protagonist and a cast of complex individuals who add authenticity and depth to the story. This book has comic moments, fledgling romance and developing friendships, which sets the scene for an engaging serial novel. The setting is knowledgeably described. I like the location, the humour and the characterisation.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

The first of four parts that will ultimately make up the novel, this book introduces the reader to Sophy. She has decided she wants to emigrate to Australia, where dad Johnny is from. She knows she needs to make money to get there, so when her dad offers her a job in his shop, she has to accept. The shop isn't as she expects, and there she meets some interesting characters - will she be able to stick it out and raise the money she needs?

A promising start, with plenty of characters to provide interest in the remaining 3 parts. I haven't read a book in this format for nearly thirty years, so it's good to see an author try it again!

3.5 rounded to 4.
