This was fantastic! Perfect for a Kate Morton or Lucina Riley hangover, this book will draw you in and won't let go until you've read the last page. This book was unputdownable - fascinating characters, excellent writing, and a plot that keeps you turning the pages. I loved every second of it. I will definitely be ordering a paper copy to have on hand. If you love fiction, especially WWII - then you absolutely must read "The Shakespeare Sisters."

The Shakespeare Sisters by Juliet Greenwood

A brilliant book set in ww2 and the author really managed to capture the era completely.
Loved the plot and was brought into the story of the sisters and felt their relationship felt very believable.
I found myself reading chapter after chapter unable to put it down.
A first time read by this author but certainly not the last.

An absolutely brilliant read. I could not put it down. Set before , during and after the Second World War . 4 sisters and 2 brothers and a very domineering father and a weak step mother. It tells the pressure to marry well and the power of men at times . I loved how the war changed everyone and it was a gripping story. Made me very grateful for the freedom I have. I really loved it. Can not recommend it enough.

The Shakespeare Sisters is a really well-written, engaging novel. The titular sisters are engaging characters, and I was fully pulled into their lives and quests for independence. I was a little disappointed that the book skipped over the majority of World War II--it jumps from 1940 to 1945, with just a few explanations of what happened during the war. However, the post-war historical setting was still interesting. Definitely a great pick for any fan of historical fiction.
