Oh my god!! This made me sad, mad and glad all in one. Layla's story was intense and I was glad that at first I actually wasn't able to put the pieces together. I loved finding out who was responsible and learning more about them. This is incredibly well written with some amazing work on characters. I loved the dynamic relationship between Gale and Layla as siblings but also as partners in the sense that they are trying to solve the case.

The story was amazing and although it took me a couple of chapters to get into, once I'd hit that point I was hooked and couldn't put it down. 5 star read. It's amazing and I would love to read more by Gregg Dunnett sometime soon! Highly recommend this to anyone who loves a thriller/murder mystery with a twist.

Little Ghosts by Gregg Dunnett was a Brilliant and completely gripping psychological thriller and with a shocking twist that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. This book was so addictive I had to stop doing my house cleaning and cooking my tea etc. to finish it.

Gregg Dunnett is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this book. I will be looking out for more of his books in the future and reading his old books he has written.

Big thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator for this ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

A fun and relaxing day at the beach was on the agenda of the Martin Family. But instead their life’s changed forever. Layla, their daughter got taken and was found brutally murder. 2 years later the police still don’t have a inkling of a though about who killed little Layla. But her brother Gape has, because Layla told him!

I am not sure how I Need to review this book. On one hand the story itself isn’t bad. It well written, fast paced. On the other hand I have some issues with this book. For one, it isn’t very original and very predictable. The huge plot twist wont surprise most of the readers, because it is quite obvious very early on. And then there are the huge plot holes and the inconsistency in the overall story. Also, please show and don’t tell. Especially after the killer got arrested.

I am writing this honest review after being given an advanced copy from Netgalley.

I didn’t think I would love this book because of the ghost angle but I was wrong. A kid, 10 year old Layla has been found murdered and the killer has not been caught. Layla appears as a ghost and gets her brother, Gale to believe she is real. She helps aGale solve the murder but part of the book is Gale trying to convince adults Layla the ghost is real and has provided pertinent information.

One of the biggest problems is the person she is saying killed her is someone that no one will believe did it.

And so continues this murder mystery.

Well written and I enjoyed the style it was written in.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley to review below is the blurb

"One moment my beautiful daughter, her face flushed from the sun, her curls still wet from splashing in the ocean, was waiting in line for a strawberry ice cream, the next she was gone…
As I sit in her dimly lit bedroom, surrounded by flickering candles, I feel the crushing weight of my daughter’s absence. It's been two years since Layla was murdered. The police have searched tirelessly for her killer, but they've found nothing – it's like whoever did it vanished into thin air.
My once-perfect marriage is falling apart, we can hardly look at each other anymore. Our ten-year-old son Gale is struggling. He’s changed since she died. He’s more secretive and also… I can’t quite put my finger on it. They were so close, is this Gale coming to terms with her death? Still, unease creeps over me as I watch him. He just stares past me at something I can’t see.
Then one day, as I butter his toast for breakfast, my son tells me something that stops me in my tracks. "I know who killed Layla.”
I can barely get the words out to ask how. Looking at me with his serious little boy expression, he puts a hand on my arm. “She told me.”

I really enjoyed this book. The story flows easily and I especially like the relationship between Gale and his sister Layla. Apart from an initial shock early on in the story I don't think there are any twists and turns I wasn't expecting but I still enjoyed reading it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it’s a little quirky, ghosts aren’t really real….are they?? There’s nothing not to love, it’s beautifully written, the story line is intriguing and I devoured the book in a couple of days. A perfect Sunday afternoon read

It's been two years since Jon and Rachels daughter Layla was kidnapped and murdered and still no one has been caught. Their son Gale is seeing a counselor to help him but he's still a very quiet and lonely boy. Gale is soon turning ten, the same age Layla was when she was taken and suddenly his sister appears to him. He begins to wonder if he is going crazy but she convinces him she's real and she tell him she knows who killed her but whose he going to tell since no one will believe him.
This book grabbed me from the start and kept me turning pages deep into the night. I was on an emotional roller coaster reading this. It is told with such emotion that I laughed and cried and swore I wanted to kill the guy myself. I loved it that's all I can say.

Two years after 10 year old Layla is abducted and murdered, DI Clarke, the lead investigator on the case, hasn’t found the culprit. But Layla’s little brother knows who killed her, because Layla told him. Nobody else can see her ghost and nobody will believe him, so he has to find the evidence himself.

The story hooked me in from the start, the characters were mainly well developed (I think more work is needed on the parents) and the premise was great. A brilliant twist followed by a tense race for Gale to prove that he is telling the truth, before the killer silences him.

The sibling bond between Layla and Gale was wonderfully described and brought the emotions to the forefront.

A really good read!

5⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This author is new to me and I don't normally read this genre, but I thought this was a great read. Dunnett's writing is very smooth, there were a lot of intense moments that kept me turning the pages, and I found it overall to be a quick, engrossing read. Definitely will be looking for more books from the author!

While two parents try to navigate through a parent's worst nightmare - the abduction and murder of their child - their other child has a secret.

Their son, Gale, can see, and communicate, with his dead sister, Layla. As Layla communicates details of her murder to Gale, he is left trying to find a way to convince those around him who her killer really is.

I found this an easy, enjoyable read, and loved the relationship between Gale and his sister.

An excellent, well written novel. A page turner that brings all emotions to the fore with a good, unexpected twist in between. If you enjoy a good thriller embroiled with the paranormal, this is definitely one to read.

Little Ghosts was a hard one to read and probably why it took me a little longer to finish. Aside from the typos and a few parts of the book that were slow it was a really good book. I also don’t understand why they author always attached the last name anytime the parents were named especially Jon Martin…kinda annoyed me.

Layla Martin was a 10 year old girl who was found brutally murdered, even though in the autopsy they couldn’t figure out how exactly she had died. Her brother Gale was 8yo when she died and he never really got over her death. Her parents Rachel and Jon Martin’s marriage was really struggling after her death and fought a lot. Layla has been appearing to her brother since her death. It wasn’t until the anniversary of her death when she was 10y 5mo when she that she spoke her first words to her brother. After that she finally realized she needed to solve her murder with her help of her brother Gale. She knows who killer her.

DI Carter has been on her case since they found her body 2 years ago and has not been able to solve her murder. Until one day he is shows a picture of his house and is accused of her murder and he is trying to prove his innocence. Ellen Cross is a single mom to boy named Joe and is just a beat cop when she gets pulled into an interview and ends up becoming part of the case. Ellen is my favorite character she is a good cop and very smart. She wants to become a detective but is letting fear hold her back.

Part II is when the action started and I couldn’t put the book down. I thought by learning who the killer was early on would ruin the book but it did the opposite it kept me glued bc I wanted to see what happened. I had to know if or how he got caught. You start to see what kind of person he is bc of his audacity and smugness getting the better of him thinking he’s gotten away with her murder. The story is heartbreaking but I feel like Gregg Dunnett did a great job with his storytelling.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this ARC for my honest review. I just reviewed Little Ghosts by Gregg Dunnett. #LittleGhosts #NetGalley

I enjoyed the book thoroughly and did not want to put it down. I’ve already recommended it to several of my friends. Ghosts, murder, sibling bonds, and everything in between intertwine to create such a captivating story. I can’t wait for the author’s next book!

This book was very strong in the beginning but I just didn’t love it and skimmed the last half. The twist felt very obvious to me which I didn’t love.
