So turns out I actually purchased this book from Audible in 2021. (I have a massive addiction to buying books, too many to actually read in a timely fashion from Amazon.... I'm working on it 😆)

I'm so mad at myself for leaving this dark, twisted addictive book unread for so long.
For fans of John Mars you will love this.

Yes I know I have an addiction and don't need to anymore books but guess who just went and purchased Will Carver other novels. (I promise they are not going to sit for 3 plus years.)

This was another book that wasn't for me.

Maybe in print, but I found it far too confusing to follow which character was which as the narrator didn't differentiate (and maybe that pays off at the end!)

Just don't like stories about cheating and affairs. I didn't like any of the characters, or love-to-hate them.

If you don't mind affairs, Adult~ content, and can handle confusing storylines give it a try!

The narration is good, but not what I needed from this.

This book was almost too creepy for me but I preserved. I kind of loved and hated the ending at the same time, but you have to admit it’s certainly different

Here are two… why have I not heard of Will Carver before? And what the fuck did I just read?!

Fast paced, addictive, macabre and downright disturbing, yet also gripping and unputdownable, this was a uniquely WEIRD book that I obviously devoured + loved!! This naturally gave me John Marrs’ THE GOOD SAMARITAN vibes at the start, but soon sets out on its own path of infatuation, mental health difficulties, sex, dysfunctional relationships and obsession, and discusses these topics openly.

The plot was dark and gory; the characters were multi-layered and complex (Seth especially) and the TWISTS were refreshing and well thought out. There’s no clear cut good guy/bad guy with the characters: everyone in this book is flawed, which made for an interesting read as I related to NOBODY.

I thought Seth’s insomnia was described brilliantly and genuinely had me feeling anxious and uneasy just listening to his line of thoughts. The narrator was great, however I do felt multiple narrators would have enhanced the listening experience as it was difficult to differentiate between POV.

There are some graphic and strange sex scenes in this + a LOT of talk of suicide so be aware of these things, but if you like a dark and sinister book I’d recommend this! After doing some research, I’ve discovered ‘dark and sinister’ seems to be Carver’s signature themes for a book and I’ve already ordered THE DAVES NEXT DOOR!

What a dark, dark tale. The book touches on so many topics, but the main focus on mental health issues, suicide and murder makes for deep dark vibes. There is a lot going on in this book and it’s not until the last few chapters that things link up. Clever, deep plot, made even more chilling when listened to as an audiobook.

This is a wild ride into the very dark side of human psyche. There are lots of unexpected twists. The style of very short chapters, switching between the characters view points, works well for this particular book. Thank you to Bolinda Audio and NetGalley for the audio ARC. A gripping dark novel could not stop listening. Seth goes through his phone book and rings random numbers this leads to plenty of twists and turns. Changed my mind a few times who was guilty as bodies turn up. A well plotted thriller. The narrator is a key part of the novel as he keeps listening.

A dark, dangerous, disturbing and utterly unputdownable thriller. Continuous adult scenes throughout. Which on reflection seems like a weird thing to write about a murder mystery thriller. Basically there are way more sex scenes than I’m used to.

At times throughout this novel I felt physically sick, The premise and plot for the story is astonishingly good, almost the perfect scenario for multiple murders, multiple suspects and splintering side stories. Absolutely brilliant! The twists and turns are perfectly executed.

The narration was excellent, and played a large part in keeping me hooked right til the end of the story.

What a premise!!! I really enjoyed this audiobook, it was tense in all the right moments and the narrator was a great choice!

With thanks to the publisher for the copy received. Good Samaritans is one of those novels that leaves you lost for words. And it is extremely difficult to review without revealing anything about the complex plot.

All I want to say is that this was a wild ride from start to finish. I loved the writing, I loved the characters. The characters are so screwed up and it just gets worse the further in to the book you get. It feels kind of wrong to love these characters but how could you not? They are so well written, and who does not love a well written messed up character? I loved all of the twists and I didn't see any one of them coming, and there's a lot of them. I've never read anything like this before. It's so descriptive and graphic, Really good read.

You definitely get that 'what am I reading' with this book. It was a dark and challenging read that I just couldn't put down. It's hard to describe without giving spoilers. This is a character driven book with an intriguing and deeply flawed cast of characters.

I found the narrator engaging, and he made it an easy listen. I wished he had given the characters all a different voice because you don't always know 'who is who' in the book.

It's a fast-paced read that just got stranger and more addictive as the storyline developed, but I really enjoyed it.
