Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
This was such a fun read. I enjoyed the mystery part so much and the book had an interesting concept.
Thanks to netgalley for an opportunity to read this book.
This has been such a fun ride to read and all the spooky aspects mixed with the library setting made me so happy it was perfect
The story had incredible potential but just fell a little flat for me. The story itself had some incredible moments but I couldn’t help but keep asking for more of this and that.
I think the idea of this book was brilliant, like the perfect murder mystery for bookish people. I mean what could better than be able to get inside books?
I think this was a light fun read with a mix of elements that many will love.
I enjoyed the premise of this book but unfortunately the formatting of the ARC copy was difficult to read. I ended up waiting until the book came out on ereader and read it that way but struggled to get into it. The ending felt a bit rushed and I would've liked a bit more depth to the characters. I may try to give it a reread at another time.
The plot was good but predictable. The characters were shallow, and I spotted a few typos, so The Secret Librarian Society Murders wasn't particularly a win for me. This is the author's debut novel, and there were a lot of good elements. Proofreading and character depth is needed, but this novel has good bones.
i’m very 50/50 about this book! on one hand the plot was great, i always live a good murder mystery and this book gave me exactly that. one the other hand, the writing was horrible. this was a second draft at best, i can’t believe this seemed ok to any editor and if it did, i’d be interested to talk to them since it clearly needed more editing. now i liked the group of friends and their relationship, i also finished this book so those other aspect must have captivated me or i wouldn’t have finished it. 2.5⭐️
The concept of this book: to be able to go into the pages of a book you are reading. What a dream come true that would be! This book provided me with the perfect escapism, imagining myself jumping into the pages of my current reads and living the storylines myself.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me access to this arc.

I'm going to start off by saying, I know this is a debut novel. Debut novels are rarely perfect, and the fact you've gotten this far is amazing! The book's plotline was wonderful and truly drew me in.
However, all of that being said, the writing does need a bit of cleaning. Every author has their kryptonite, and I think this book could profit off of better dialogue. A lot of the dialogue felt forced or felt like it was trying too hard to make the characters appear a certain age. Leaving conversations to feel fake or unnecessary.
Overall, this is a great starting point, and don't let my review (or any others) stop you from your passions for writing!
This book was DNF for me. While it may have an engaging characters or plot for some readers, the writing style read as juvenile and clunky.
This was a fun read. The writing seemed a bit younger than YA at some parts but it still engaged me and I was interested the whole way!
I loved Anna. She cared so much for her brother, acted realistically and yet moved the plot forward, and her friendships and friend group are really heartwarming. She’s such a spirited main character, and seeing how she grows and matures was lovely. The use of flashbacks between the past and the present solidified her relationship with her brother, and seeing his death before we saw the aftermath and confusion was horrifying and a PERFECT choice, goosebumps all around.
I also love the concept of this novel - what are libraries, if not horror and murder lurking beneath old books, and the friendship of a bunch of outcasts.
That being said, I do have one major bit of constructive criticism. This book isn’t edited well: and there is genuinely enough poor editing to take one out of the story completely. Paragraphs are much too long and don’t break up logically, leading to a stiff flow of thought. Characters use far too many ‘speaking’ verbs after their dialogue, which makes their interactions feel clunky and forced. There is little sentence variation which creates a monotonous tone for most of the novel. As a writer, I definitely understand what happened here - I made all of these mistakes when I first began writing, so I don’t blame the writer for this. These problems could all have been fixed with a good editor, I think.
I think this book is aimed at a younger audience than me, but it was still a great fun, light read. Anna is in a terrible mess after her brother's strangely inexplicable demise. In a library. Anna and her buddies set out to solve the mystery of his strange death amongst clues, libraries and books and mysterious librarians. Not really my thing but an enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed this book so much! I read this in one sitting and I could not put it down! This was absolutely perfect.
I just reviewed The Secret Librarian Society Murders by Teresa Husvar. #TheSecretLibrarianSocietyMurders #NetGalley

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me, though I really tried. Many errors, the writing and the voice of the story are very juvenile, which is the main reason for not finishing the book.
The cover was what intrigued me, alongside with the blurb. Concept of the story is really good, but the writing doesn’t match it.
2 1/2 stars. An exciting adventure of a group teenagers trying to figure out who killed Anna's brother. Their investigation leads them to a secret society of librarians who are able to enter books. Will Anna be able to stop the killer from killing again?
Overall, I liked the concept. The story was exciting with some nice diversity. However, the bickering between some of the characters got annoying and some of the dialogue seemed a bit too juvenile for college age.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
This unfortunately was a DNF for me. I felt the writing was juvenile, too simple and a bit lackluster. I think the concept is brilliant, but I couldn’t get past the first few pages. I’d love to see a total revamp of this, I’d definitely give the concept another shot.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC.
This book has a great name, right? Seems like an awesome premise. I couldn't get past page 3. Every single sentence had the exact same format/shape and it felt almost more like beats of a stage play than an immersive novel. I would have loved to read about secret librarian murders! Unfortunately I couldn't even focus on what the bad sentences were saying because they all were so similar that my eyes glazed over.
