Like other Tracy's books in series this one too follows two main characters but still involves previous heroes, so I recommend reading in order. I loved Theo(dosia) as a character and strong heroine in no need of male. Her dreams are to teach and study and live her life as she wants. But in a world of men, her dreams aren't easy to reach. She's caught in scandal when she runs away from her engagement party and hijacks her friends Dash's carriage. He follows her and tries to rescue the situation- or to make more scandal?

I loved the tropes, they are friends but both have hidden feelings towards each other. If the start was slow, you could quickly detect their chemistry- I loved Dash's patience and attention, and I was happy for their new found feelings. But both are strong and determine characters that can clash... Will their ending be happy or not?

A runaway bride and marriage of convenience story are the base tropes of this fifth installment in the Duchess Society series by Tracy Sumner. Sumner's writing is sizzling and sensual, making for a fast paced, charming and sexy story! Sumner's style is delicious and eloquent giving a delicious layer of heightenment which works well in a historical romance. I was truly charmed by this couple and this novel. I would definitely recommend for a lover of historical romance. Tracy Sumner is definitely an author to keep on your radar!

A funny, entertaining, romance. The plot hooked me at the beginning and was paced evenly. It was a great escape read.

While I enjoyed this romance at points due to the characters’ individuality (both coming from impoverished backgrounds and having ambitions beyond marriage) and their friendship, it was not compelling enough to make me truly invested. The romance was confusing as it seemed a lot of the characters’ previous relationship was detailed in other books, and the summary wasn’t enough to make me understand the arc of their relationship. The novel began in media res leaving me disoriented and not giving the reader time to really invest in the characters. The plot both rushes and drags, with the couple too swiftly united and then stuck in contrived conflict. The characters are interesting at points but both their backstories are reiterated often without ever feeling fully clear (another symptom perhaps of this coming from a larger series but one that could have been rectified).

I love The Duchess Society series and this one slots into it so well.
It was perfect that we got to see Theo & Dash's story after we saw Theo help Dash to become a favourite author on his favourite subject of cheating.
After Theo runs away from her wedding in Dash's carriage she finds herself hiding away at Dash's new country house and then surprisingly in a marriage of friendship.
Will the two's love for each other become more than friendship??

Such a perfect regency romance from Tracy Sumner. This series always captivates me and puts a smile on my face with these strong female leads and the men who get caught by their magnificence.

Runaway bride, Theodosia Astley, hops in the first empty carriage she can find. The owner of said carriage turns out to be none other than her friend and former student, Dashiell Campbell (who is, according to literally everyone, like the hottest man around). After convincing Dash to get her out of town, one more scandal ensues forcing the two to wed in order to save Theo’s reputation. These two agree to remain friends and discover pleasure in the marriage bed with one another, but under no circumstances will they fall in love. What could go wrong?

𝘔𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴:

Dash and Theo – be still my heart. I don’t typically like friends to lovers, but I don’t think Tracy could write anything I wouldn’t like. From the beginning, it was clear that these two cared for each other and had some underlying feelings. I can’t remember their exact ages, but they’re both younger characters and it was so pure seeing them discover love and a sense of home with one another. Also, the chemistry between Dash and Theo was undeniable and they had so many cute and sweet moments. Every time Theo would teach Dash a new big word, I thought it was so precious.

I adored Daddy Macauley imparting all his wisdom upon Dash and all of their scenes together. I love the way Tracy writes found family and so seamlessly incorporates new characters into the Leighton Cluster (looking at you, Jasper). One of my favorite things with this series is how it builds upon itself, and Tracy does such a great job of getting you excited for the next book.

As always, I’m so looking forward to reading more of Tracy’s backlist and seeing what she does next.

I have been waiting (im)patiently for Dash’s story, and I was not disappointed.

Two scandals and a Scot is the fifth book in the Duchess Society series, and I swear I swoon a little heard with each book. With this series, each book focuses on a different member of the Duchess Society, and their friends, while still giving you glimpses into the lives of all your favourite characters from the previous books.

In this book we finally get more insight into Dashiell Campbell, and the bookish Theodosia Astley, and boy was I here for it. Thus far, Dash has had such a mysterious quality to his character, drifting in and out when needed, but always in a fascinating and alluring way. There was such potential to ruin the mystique of him by giving him his own book, but Tracy Sumner did an amazing job managing his allure while sharing his history. Theo, has also been rather peripheral thus far, lending knowledge and advice where needed. In this story we get to see more of her spirit and a little more of her rookery beginnings shine through.

I love how this story unfolds through scandal, delight, toe-curling spice, and humour. There is a captivating pace to the story that will keep you turning the pages. There is a staccato rhythm to the writing that took me a bit to get used to - lots of short and indirect phrases - but as I read on, it becomes a part of the characters: for Dash, it’s the way his mind works quickly to take everything in, as is the way of the cardsharp, con and Gambling God. For Theo, it’s the way her academic brain processes everything around her, moving quickly from subject to subject to gather all pertinent information.

If you love a spicy historical romance, this is SUCH a good series. Thank you to NetGalley and Tracy Sumner for this ARC. My review and opinions are my own.

3.5 stars — I’ve read only one of the other books in this series and really enjoyed it. These are technically stand-alones but I do think it would make more sense to read them in order.

I loved the set up of these two characters —- their word play, their obvious attraction for one another; but too much of this plot was left unexplored and under-developed. Major points of their past were mentioned in passing and never followed up on again and it felt like those past occurrences were kind of key to understanding current motivations from both characters. The tension & the chemistry between these characters was off the charts but there wasn’t really more to their relationship than that. The wooing involved just — buying a lot of stuff? And the initial wedding wager was built on feelings that were already so far past friendship for both of them.

I do love this author’s brazen & fiery FMCS and Theo was no different. Her desire to teach & learn was such a highlight in this book.

It was sexy but could have used just a little bit more! I think I’ll go back from the beginning before reading the next installment.

I was very happy to see Theo get her own story in Two Scandals and a Scot! We had already met her in the earlier parts of this Duchess Society series In The Wicked Wallflower, we had already seen that Theo had a mind of her own. And when her fiancees very pregnant mistress shows up at their engagement party, she decides to run away with the first carriage she can find.

Which turns out to be the one of Dashiell Campbell (does the name ring a bell? In the Wicked Wallflower he was introduced as Xander’s protege). Needless to say, Tracy has produced yet another wonderful story full of romance, fun and laughter. Absolutely Loved it.

Mind you: I believe you will enjoy it more if you’ve read the whole series. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Tracy Sumner is reliable when it comes to regency romance novels and two scandals and a Scot is no exception, I thoroughly recommend the whole series.

Two Scandals and a Scot (part of the Duchess Society series) by Tracy Sumner is a very enjoyable historical romance. Bookish and intelligent Theodosia Astley runs away from her engagement party after her fiancé’s side action shows up and announces she is pregnant. Theo hops into the nearest carriage and given society constructs of the time, finds herself needing a hero to rescue her and her reputation. She figures out the carriage belongs to her former student Dashiell Campbell, who she helped write a book about the art of gambling. While he has a reputation, Dash proposes to marry Theo to save her.

I enjoyed the relationship between Theo and Dash as well as Theon’s character. This was the first book of the series that I have read and think (1) I didn’t need to have read the preceding novels to fully enjoy this one and (2) that I have to read the others in the series now given how much I enjoyed this book.

This is the 5th book in The Duchess Society Series by Tracy Sumner. This is Theo and Dash's story. These 2 were a blast to watch fall in love 🥰. This is the student falling for the mentor. Theo being impulsive and running from what would have been a terrible marriage ends up ruining herself really, and Dash comes to the rescue!

We have met the Scot before in previous books in this series, and just knew he would have his own story soon - and yes, he was young compared to the others in his group, but oh he was very fine and well experienced with the ladies of Society. And he just had to fall for a bluestocking - of course - someone who was really just the opposite of his gambling character, but who had great empathy for his hard upbringing.
Sumner has written a grand series that I am enjoying very much, and reading Dash's love story is a delight. He has been in love with her since he met her and she helped him with his first book about how people cheat when gambling - which he had learned through experience and apprenticeship! And she taught him new words all he time. So it only makes sense that he is who she runs to when she is trouble and that he helps. .
Well written and a good addition.

So far of the 7 books in this series I've read 4.. 2 I really liked and 2 were okay but not as good as the others.

In this series, a group of loosely connected men and loosely connected women end up falling in love and marrying. In this installment, Dash, who has just published a book about how to win at gambling, falls in love with Theo, who had helped him with his book the past year.

Theo was supposed to get married but was essentially jilted and ended up leaving her fiancé at the engagement party. Dash heads out to find her, they are caught kissing and "forced" to marry by her brother.

The major conflict of this book is that Dash is amazingly gorgeous, and Theo is a bluestocking who loves to learn. Dash has to learnt that he's worthy of love, and Theo has to learn to trust Dash.

I enjoyed the two characters and their story. My only complaint (which was kind of a major one) was how disjointed the story was. Theo ran away, Dash went after her, they were forced to marry, then they fall in love unbeknownst to each other, and when Dash is away doing work, he is felled by some gossip and Theo has to learn to trust him. Then there's an out of the blue incident and Dash is more "unworthy" and Theo has to believe he'll come for her.

The characters are enjoyable, and I like this series but the storyline leaves quite a bit that could be improved.

Really hate having to knock a star off the normally stellar Tracy Sumner's Duchess Series.

I feel like this pair had such sizzling potential (and they do have some really steamy scenes) especially going straight into marriage. Let's stay friends as a trope is one of my favorites and this still fell unfortunately short.

Previously I would agree that these stories could standalone with a delightful sprinkling of older characters layered in to add depth. Now, there actually isn't enough backstory to remind me why Theo and Dash were a thing, Dash's mysterious backstory is not well explained, and the "Leighton Cluster" just keeps. popping. in. Plus I get wanting to set up the NEXT book but this time around it felt really forced.
